Rain OU Team

Actually, Dragonite is an amazing Pokemon on a rain team. It can run special or physical variants on them. Physical can run Waterfall, while special run thunder and hurricane.

Anyways...

I perfer this Jirachi set more. I actually used your set, and if you choose not to go with this set, then at least add wish to Jirachi as Cosmic Power + Wish is a REAL troll. Anyways, a more suited Jirachi (in my opinion, as people will roar/whirlwind Jirachi out)

Jirachi @ Life Orb/Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
Nature: Timid
Effort Values: 252 SpA/252 SpE/4 Hp

~ Thunder
~ Psychic
~ Calm Mind
~ Hidden Power (Ice, Water) or Water Pulse

Thunder is 100% accurate and can hit things like Skarmory (which is always nice) hard.
Psychic is STAB, and can take a few fighting Pokemon out that Scrafty problems.
Calm Mind is to set up, it works well when setting up on walls, ect.
Hidden Power (Ice) hits Gliscor/Dragons hard. Hidden Power (Water) is more base power than Water Pulse. Water Pulse has confusion chance.

No offense, but why are you using Scrafty? You can use anything else on this team, and you chose that?!
How about Virizion? It has a much better speed, fighting and grass typing (helps with bulky water types).

Virizion @ Lum Berry/Leftovers
Trait: Justified
Nature: Jolly/Adamant
Effort Values: 252 AtK/252 SpE/4 Hp

~ Leaf Blade
~ X-Scissor/Stone Edge
~ Close Combat
~ Swords Dance

You have no physical walls?! You defenitly need to replace Volcarona for one. Ferrothorn makes a great partner with Latias. It can eat ice/dragon type attacks and be a fairly good wall cores for this team.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
Nature: Sassy
Effort Values: 200 Hp/180 DeF/130 SpDeF

~ Leech Seed
~ Toxic/Thunder Wave
~ Gyro Ball
~ Power Whip

Thats really it from me, I wish this team luck ^^
~ Anthonias

I don't know why everyone is hating on your team, originality is exactly what the meta game needs right now. Dragonite on a rain team, come on, lets please do something more creative. I personally run a successful offensive rain with Choice Scarf Gyarados, and it's so unique no one ever sees it coming. I'v one hundreds of battles due to my opponent's lack of judgement, shame on them for expecting the norm. There are some obvious changes to make though, and the first would be surf instead of hydro pump on Politoed. Reliability and consistency are some of the most important factors for a great battler. If you want to try the Gayardos set here it is:

Gayarados @ Choice Scarf
Intimidate
252 Atk/252 Spe/4 Hp
Adamant

Ice Fang
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Waterfall

I think he could do a good job of replacing Latias, so try it out.
Good Luck with your team Moxie Rain King

I'll try that, thanks.

For Jirachi, I'll try that.

I'm using Scrafty because I never actually have tried using the little guy as long as I've been battling, so I figured I'd give him a chance.
But apparently he doesn't need one for this team ^^

I'll try out your Virizion.

And I'll also probably try out that Ferrothorn.

Okay, just for anyone else with suggestions, my team now stands at this.

Jolly>Adamant on Virizion, max speed is critical since unlike attack it cannot be boosted with your set.

Toxic/Will-O-Wisp/Pain Split>Thunder on Rotom-W, since having two electric moves is redundant, and Volt Switch is superior with the set that you are using.

Surf>Hydro Pump on Politoed, the extra 25 power isn't worth the 20 accuracy loss, especially when you're finishing off Pokes.

Just some more sugestions

I really liked that Volcarona. It's something that noone will expect and it works pretty well. Of course it's not as good as in sun, but it's creative and gives the team a surprise factor. I'll use it.
Although it's still a very original team the way it is now and I really like the Jirachi and Gyarados. I'm glad the raters didn't turn an original team - even though it had some obvious flaws - into a pile of standard shit...which happens quite a bit.

Okay, I'll try to hit this on point by point.

" Why make this an RMT if you made it in under 4 minutes? "

I figured, " Why not use the RMT " to get the team ironed out a bit, then start looking at actually improvements. So I threw it on here to see what would be said so I could polish it up a little bit before I actually used it on someone and looked like a fool. Because that usually isn't a good feeling.

Although looking at it now, it does seem to be a bit of a silly way to do things, keep in mind, I'm new to the site. Although that is no excuse, sorry if I made a bad impression on anybody. But I'm definitely not a stranger to competitive battling, been doing it a while. I came here from a bit of a different site, you might have heard of it, " The Pokemondb "
Anyway, I always used the RMT section there to get improvements before testing out my teams, but we had a different set of tiers, in which Jirachi and Latias were both uber. So I never really used them, ( Didn't do a lot of Uber battling really. )

" Anyways, first things first. The Politoed, no offense, is an abomination. Try Scald / Toxic / Protect / Perish Song. You just don't run an offensive set with defensive EVs... "

Scald and Toxic? Isn't that a bit contradictory?
I've found myself using Hydro Pump on my Politoeds without Sp Atk investment a while ago, and thought it was kind of stupid, although look at it this way. 120 power move, + Rain boost ( 50% ), + STAB ( 50% ).

Normally by the time all of that's calculated, he has no trouble doing some serious damage, while Perish Song was something new I'm trying out.

Although I will try your set out on him, I've grown fairly attached to the one I'm currently using, only with Hypnosis or Toxic.

Also, why would I try to Toxic stall while wearing myself down with Perish Song?

" Your Jirachi is extremely susceptible to status conditions, I can see Jellicent or the like smoking this guy. Get Substitute plz. And Body Slam > TWave, Jirachi is already weak to ground, why make it even weaker. "

I had a friend of mine point out the T-wave < Body Slam thing, I'll definitely change that up. What I replace for Substitute? That sounds like a fairly nice idea for him.

" Run Max Speed on Latias or be screwed over by every single base 100 Pokemon in existence. "

Now, should I just screw Latias and go for Latios?
If not, I'll just do that, but what Ev's do I change for max speed?

" I thought every kid starting off with weather knew that one should never, ever, EVER use Scrafty in Rain. Seems I was incorrect. Rain does absoloutely nothing for this guy, and DD Scrafty sucks anyways. Its Speed is abominable. That's combined with the fact that you're using Moxie over Shed Skin, which is a terrible choice. Scrafty will be wrecked by anything carrying status. Changing the item to Lum Berry will help if you're hell-bent on keeping Moxie. "

Yeah, I was hesitant to even try using him.
And Jolly + Dragon Dance gets his speed relatively high, along with Moxie boosts keeping his attack great, but the points about status, are definitely true. I might just go back to my standard Toxicroak here.
So I'll probably just play it classic there for croak.

Although, I've learned from multiple experiences, that sometimes carry a pokemon that doesn't necesarily benefit from the rain, just for team coverage and not being screwed by other weather, can be a good idea.

Either way, Scrafty doesn't seem to pull it off.

" Not much to say on Rotom-W. Pretty generic rain abuser. Why the weird EV spread though? Just wondering. "

I've found that being an amazing bulky sweeper spread.
Even with 252 Ev's in speed, he's not gonna outspeed other sweepers with Specs equipped, but I love having specs.
He really got turned into a Tank breaker / Bulky Sweeper.
The defensive Ev's let him not be completely screwed by sweepers he can't outspeed, while having that massive Special Attack and epic rain support lets him break down tanks fairly easily, while still having a chance of survival.

" Volcarona...wowwww. This thing is SO bad. I mean, at least use a Pokemon in Rain that doesn't get its best attacking move's power cut in half, and the power of moves that hit it super effectively multiplied by 1.5. Why would you even consider this? I mean, you think this thing can pull off a sweep? Yeah, enter Gyarados. There are more counters, like Jellicent (which by the way will destroy your entire team with proper support), but I'm not going to list them all. This is just a bad idea. I understand you're trying to be original, but sometimes originality has to take a backseat to practicality. You don't even have a spinner, which means if the opponent has Stealth Rocks up, which they most likely will, then your Volc takes 50% on entry. That sucks. Replace this with a Tornadus or something. "

Do I think it can? I've swept people with this thing on numerous occasions. Now, I normally had a spinner on those occasions, due to my throwing this team together too fast, I completely forgot about that.

But look at it like this.

I lose Flamethrower / Fiery Dance. That's Fire type STAB. But I gain a 120 power coverage move, and a powered up and more useable HP water to drain the life out of any rock type thinking they're smart coming in on me.

There's nothing un-practical about it, didn't have to be original.
And oh yes, I'm totally going to stay in on a Jellicent, Special wall and super effective typing. I've got Rotom-W for that situation, Gyarados as well.
( Notice that Rotom-W completely walls out the average Gyarados )

Although, I have been considering using Tornadus, in all of my past experiences, I've swept more and more people with this thing, than I ever have with a rain support Tornadus.
Ya I guess one big thing that Volcanora has over other Hurricane users is that he has an epic stat boosting move, Quiver Dance. You're trying to think outside the box I like that. :) But your still gonna need a spinner I'll try come back later with a suggestion.

Thanks! When you do ( I started using the team already ) could you think of a spinner to replace Rotom-W?

While I still feel that Rainarona will always be a beast, a straight up Wall ( Ferrothorn ) was what I needed here, the team has been working great.

Although I still feel a reliable spinner would be good for my team, the only member who really isn't fitting in is my Rotom-W.

So Thanks in advance! And for being one of the first people here to like my Volcarona ;]

Spinnner...? Well, I would say Tentacreul is the best for that in rain. It can also provide toxic spikes. Tentacreul can so some special walling, so change Ferrothorn's effort values to look like this;

Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip

Tentacreul
Tentacruel @ Leftovers
Trait: Rain Dish
Nature: Calm
Effort Values: 252 HP / 240 SDef / 16 Spe
~ Toxic Spikes
~ Rapid Spin
~ Scald
~ Protect / Ice Beam

Hope this helps!

Aww you beat me :P
Yes Tentacruel is a great staller in the rain and would pair well with Ferrothorn. I would recommend that you try him.
However, if you want to be a bit more offensive you could try a Starmie:

Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP, 252 SAtk, 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
-Surf/Hydro Pump
-Thunderbolt/Thunder/Grass Knot
-Ice beam
-Rapid Spin

Boltbeam has great coveravge and because Starmie is so fast it can make good use of it. I put multiple choices in the move slots for your preference. If you don't mind sacrificing some accuracy for power pick Hyrdo Pump. Thunder doesn't miss in the rain but it has 50% (I think) in the sun so Thunderbolt might be a good option incase you lose the weather war. If bulky water ground guys give you issue use Grass Knot.

Tentacruel might fit on this team better but I thought Starmie was worth mentioning... Good luck!

I'll try both, and I'll go for Thunder on Starmie, I never lose the weather war to sun :D
