but the worst part is that Klinklang just ruins it unless I have a Sub up before and haven't taken too much damage.

Since when did Klinklang care about Subs? After a Gear Shift, one Gear Grind will do a minimum of 75% to Glaceon. If you have a Sub, the second Gear Grind will be the one that does you in.

Well, I run max HP/max SpA Modest. 49.4% max on the second hit if I don't have a Sub up, but that's at +0. At +1, the most the second hit is gonna do is 73.65%, so without SR, I would live through it and /I think/ KO back with HP Ground.

EDIT: Forgot LO, my bad. Uhh, with Lefties, I would win. Also, my Volbeat runs Sub, so I normally try to pass that as well when I'm BPing to Glaceon.

isn't swift swim Carracosta's DW ability? Either way that kind of has nothing to do with the NU metagame....

Edit: Also, I love dry skin Jynx now! a Gorebyss tried hitting me with a surf but I psyshocked it in the face and got the KO ha ha!
Yep, Jynx is pretty good. I've been using a specs set (timid; psychic, ice beam, energy ball, focus blast) for a while and it's wrecking quite a lot. Dry skin is awesome, and it hits really hard. Alternatively, you could try Psyshock instead of Psychic for stuff like Lanturn/Flareon, although they are rarely seen. I hardly use psychic anyway.
Slowking will screw you regardless, as EBall will only deal ~41%-48% (grass knot is the same), so you've got to find a way around him. Speaking of, is there a good physical attacking counter/check for him?

(all Jolly with max Atk against 252/4 neutral Slowking) Jolly Scarf Braviary does 67-79%, Scolipede and Jolly Pinsir outright OHKO Slowking holding Lefties, and so does Absol with Night Slash. Shiftry can OHKO with a little damage.

Essentially, anyone with a SE STAB move works.

If you're going to use Double Dragon, why wouldn't you use Druddigon, which has way more power. CB Outrage does 41% - 49% to the most defensive Klinklang ever seen (not divulging the EVs because its my personal spread) which is REALLY solid damage, and it gets Earthquake which obviously wrecks it. It also does 58%-68% to max/max bold Weezing, which is really nice.

I disagree 100%, you can pretty easily play around it since: all the spinners are weak to SR, Klinklang is dominant in the metagame and wrecks everything on a hail team except Slowking, and CB Sawk punches huge holes in teams because again, Slowking won't be around forever. It's a decent-good team archetype, and when built right it can be a pain in the ass. However, broken it is not.

In fact, I don't really think anything is outright broken in this metagame. There are no threats that you just have no answer to, unlike say Yanmega in RU or Kyurem in UU. However I have a feeling that when the tiers update on January 1st, we're going to be dealing with a bunch of mons that are about to drop from RU. But that's still a month away, so let's enjoy the balanced metagame while we can!

I disagree with this statement. Sandslash can spin and he resists SR you know. Don't count him out just yet!

Also, what is the best possible set for druddigon? I mean, he has access to some of the best abilities in the game (Sheer force? YES Rough skin? SURE. Mold breaker? OH MAN, PLEEEEASE COME TO DW) and a decent movepool, plus beastly attack. But is it ok to sacrifice rough skin for sheer force? Just wondering what would be the best possible set to run.

EDIT: Also, how is lanturn doing this tier? He seems to be an interesting mon with only 2 weaknessess (grass, ground) and two sick abilities: water absorb, and volt absorb.

Don't give up Rough Skin. In a set of Dragon Claw/ Outrage, Sucker Punch/Crunch, Superpower/EQ, and Fire Fang, you only get a boost on Fire Fang (or Crunch if you opt to use it over Sucker Punch). And CB Druddigon is best Druddigon.

Master Win, Sandslash is RU. Please check your facts.

Edit: don't bother with Water Absorb on Lanturn, it's pointless since Lanturn resists water and is only neutral for electric. Also, Electric attacks are way more common and it allows you to basically completely shut down Magmortar, as well as taking random Thunder Waves.

Lanturn is really good but he has competition with Quagsire, and Slowking for a bulky water. With a lack of reliable recovery and meh stats, Usually Slowking is preffered. However, the typing is amazing

However, he is still correct that not all spinners are weak to Rocks. Ive seen a few Wartortles, and not only do they spin well, they're damn bulky

I'll admit I totally forgot about Wartortle but that's because its totally set-up bait for basically everything...

Lanturn's biggest downfall is probably its lack of legitimate recovery. It shuts down some pretty cool things like Magmortar, Rotom-F, Rotom-S, Eelektross, and Magneton. All of those have to run some kind of HP to hit it super effectively, and even then it's hardly fazed. I'm not really sure what set to run on it though; some people seem to invest like nearly entirely in bulk while others have some power and speed. Lanturn's really cool though and definitely not something to just ignore.

Wartortles spin well but they're obnoxiously bad at everything else imo. It's really kind of bad that I can easily set up Klinklang on it.

But yeah, I agree with tennisace in the fact that this meta is really cool and balanced. Nothing is absurdly overpowered and it seems most everything has several checks at least.

wartortle was awful in the limited experience I had with it. it's weak and doesn't take hits nearly as well as you'd expect it to. forcing reliance on rest is terrible and horribly inefficient, even with support from miltank. Pity klinklang can't use Rapid Spin or something like that.

Yea, I thought Wartortle would be pretty good. Yawn, Scald, Rapid Spin. However... He's kinda dissapointing. IMO this tier seems to be balanced but leans more towards bulky sweepers and setup sweepers (though stall does fantastic) With gems like Huntail, Gorebyss, Torterra, and Klinklang. Heck, even Volbeat. So Rapid Spin isn't exactly a necessity unless you run pokemon like Articuno (and possibly fire types) but there's better rapid spinners to get the job done

I've seen a few well-built Sunny Day / Rain Dance teams, generally starting out with a Prankster Murkrow (who actually seems really cool, priority Roost/Taunt) that just annihilated my team when I fought them. The Sunny Day one in particular had a field day; down here you've got awesome abusers like Exeggutor, Shiftry, and Magmortar (who then gets Solarbeam to deal with Slowking, its #1 nemesis imo). Rain Dance has Gorebyss, Huntail, Seismitoad, Floatzel, and a plethora of Thunder abusers.

edit: aaa people posting while i type slow ;-;

That's true ha ha. there's also Volbeat and Illumise.... let's pretend these posts don't exist anymore lol. I don't wanna see any rain / sun teams (I only saw one which was a decent sun team, not too good...)

On a side note, anyone try an annoyer Volbeat? Volbeat has encore, confuse ray / thunder wave, moonlight, and even seismic toss at it's disposal which is cool. Seems like it can stop some setup sweepers. specifically shell smashers. What's better is that people will think you're running tail glow and baton pass

I have to agree with tennisace in that this tier is excellently balanced right now and it's simply a blast to play pretty much all the time. Except against hail. Hail's just annoying lols (not broken).

I completely forgot the Volbeat existed in this tier. It can priority pass +3 Special Attack, right? God, that seems like something people would try to exploit more. I don't even wanna imagine trying to take on a +3 Kadabra or something.

Ehh, aside from priority Encore I really think Volbeat's niche is strictly Tail Glow / Substitute passing because its bulk is kind of awful (65/55/75 - initially better than Murkrow but when you count the fact that Murkrow can use Eviolite...) and it can't abuse moves like Moonlight nearly as well as Murkrow w/ Roost. An annoyer set could work but I think that Volbeat would be much better off Baton Passing anyway. :(

god people stop posting before i do

edit @ Xephyr: Yeah, I've fought a few Volbeat BP teams and they can be really dangerous if the pass gets off. Kadabra is a good recipient though it's kind of hard to get it in with BP... Kadabra is frail as hell. I think I got snagged on a Tail Glow pass to Electabuzz once though, too.

Well, Volbeat can't use Seismic Toss with Prankster because it comes from a Gen. 3 tutor. I just use the Sub/T-Wave/Tail Glow/BP set and it seems to work wonders. I'm gonna try BPing to Kadabra now instead of Glaceon, though.

That's what sub is for! But yeah Kadabra probably isn't the best possible recipient, I just named the first powerful and fast special attacker I could think of. I feel like Electabuzz would be excellent with it's good speed and sp. atk and the ability to run eviolite for bulk. Frankly Life Orb wouldn't even be necessary because +3 special attack would just make you so enormously powerful that it wouldn't be necessary.

I'm pretty sure a competant player will break the sub before the pass. Honestly I don't even think volbeat is the most dangerous passer in NU, I think Ninjask is more effective simply because it can pass attack and speed to the myriad of slow, bulky physical threats in NU, namely Rhydon, Armaldo, Torterra, etc. It doesnt even have to pass attack, it can just pass a sub and speed to something like Exeggutor or NP Slowking. Basically it is more versitile and poses some semblance of a threat offensively (sucks it doesnt get much of a movepool).

Unfortunately for the Ninjask-->(Armaldo, Rhydon, Torterra) strategy, my own bulky Torterra walls all of them even with attack and roars them out and ALSO sets up Stealth Rock to limit Ninjask's effectiveness.

I'd be more afraid with people passing to Sawk, since if my Weezing is weakened to the point where I can't WoW I'll be pretty much done for if it has some speed and a Swords Dance. Of course, all I have to do is prevent Ninjask from passing, but it'd still be fearsome.

I haven't tried it out, but would Audino work out? She's good decent all-around defenses and a good supportive movepool, including Wish and Trick Room. She's also got Regenerator. Unfortunately she has no offensive presence whatsoever and Absol and Pinsir walk all over her.
