Why Don't You Battle Me Then, Chicken?

Hello my name is Stephen, I'm also know as Saboros on this forum, I'm
somewhat active and mostly interested in the VGC metagame. Last year
my VGC11 career was cut short when I faced Jeremy Fann at the San Jose
regionals. Since then, I've been training hard to become a better
battler and hopefully at least take the regional title this year.

Blaziken@Life Orb
Adamant
Speed Boost
4HP/252Atk/252Speed
{Flare Blitz} {Hi-Jump Kick}
{Shadow Claw} {Protect}

Blaziken's been my favorite Pokemon since the beginning, and it's
the main attraction of this team. When I first
stole my friends Ruby and he hated me until I returned it 7 months
later, I used Blaziken. I don't need to waste necessary Attack from a
Jolly nature when I've got Speed Boost and Protect makes it easy to
utilize it. Flare Blitz is a strong move, but with Life Orb and Flare
Blitz I take a crap-load of damage. Life Orb Blaziken only KOs Tyranitar thru Chople sometimes with Sky Uppercut, but always with Hi-Jump Kick . Shadow Claw prevents me from being walled by
Jellicent.

Cresselia@Sitrus Berry
Bold
Levitate
252HP/252Def/4SpDef
{Psychic} {Icy Wind}
{Light Screen} {Protect}

I hate Cresselia with a passion, but if you can't beat them, join
them, I guess. This is a standard support set, so meh. Psychic is to
do some damage every once in a while and Icy Wind lowers their Speed,
an important element of Pokemon. Light Screen raises my teams SpDef. Protect is for protecting.

Tornadus@Flight Gem
Jolly
Prankster
4HP/252Atk/252Speed
{Acrobatics} {Taunt}
{Tailwind} {Protect}

Tornadus was great last year and with it's access to not only Flight
Gem Acrobatics AND Prankster it's a huge threat this year as well. Not
much I can say about this set besides that I guess. Flight Gem
Acrobatics OHKOs Hitmontop through Intimidate and Priority Taunt stops
Trick Room and Tailwind in their tracks assuming there's no Mental
Herb.

Scizor@Occa Berry
Adamant
Technician
252HP/252Atk/4SpDef
{Bullet Punch} {Bug Bite}
{Superpower} {Protect}

Scizor was pretty much my favorite 4th Gen Pokemon. With Technician I
get a boosted Bullt Punch and Bug Bite and they reach scary heights.
Super Power takes care of anything that resists Bullet Punch and Bug
Bite. Protect is to protect me from annoying Heat Waves after Occa
Berry is gone.

Hitmontop@Fight Gem
Adamant
Intimidate
250HP/252Atk/8Speed
{Fake Out} {Mach Punch}
{Close Combat} {Wide Guard}

Hitmontop is for awesome support, and with my 8 extra Speed EVs I outspeed all other standard Hitmontops. Intimidate was great in singles,
it's a monster in VGC because of the fact that it lowers both
Pokemon's attack. Fake Out is to break Sashes. Mach Punch to finish
off any low health guys and Close Combat does a crap load, especially
with Fight Gem. Wide Guard protects us well from the usual ZapChomp
combo and other AoEs.

Latios@Dragon Gem
Timid
Levitate
252SpAtk/4SpDef/252Speed
{Dragon Pulse} {Thunderbolt}
{Hidden Power[Fire]} {Protect}

Latios is a pretty awesome Pokemon, with access to Levitate I become immune to Earthquake and it's typing allows it to resists Discharge, Muddy Water and Surf. Dragon Gem Dragon Pulse does a ton to everything that doesn't resist it and doesn't come at the price of a stat drop. Thunderbolt hits Politoed pretty hard and HP Fire hits grass types and ice types. Abomasnow in particular.

What I use:Hitmontop/Scizor/Latios/Blaziken

How I'd Start the Match: Leading with Hitmontop and Scizor is my best choice against rain teams, First turn I'd Wide Guard protecting me from the imminent double Surfs and Bug Bite with Scizor KOing Ludicolo.

Sun teams

What I use:Tornadus/Cresselia/Blaziken/Latios

How I'd Start the Match: If they lead Ninetails Jumpluff I'll simply taunt Jumpluff and set up Light Screen with Cress because Sun teams are mainly Specially offensive. Then I'd Acrobatics Jumpluff to OHKO and Psychic Ninetails to do a good amount of damage and I'll be at a pretty significant advantage at 4-3.

Sand teams

What I use:Blaziken/Tornadus/Latios/Hitmontop

How I'd Start the Match: If they lead Tyranitar Cresselia, I'd lead Blaziken Tornadus. Tornadus would be to taunt Cresselia so it can't support at all and Blaziken would go for the Hi-Jump Kick first turn OHKOing Tyranitar whether he's Chopled or not.

Hail teams

What I use: Tornadus/Cresselia/Blaziken/Scizor

How I'd Start the Match: First turn they'd lead Abomasnow Infernape, they always do. First turn i would Protect with Tornadus and Light Screen with Cresselia as he Fake Out's my Tornadus. Tornadus then would outspeed and OHKO Abomasnow assuming they aren't Sashed. If they are Sashed then Cresselia's Icy Wind will finish it off and lower Infernape's speed.

Tailwind

What I use: Hitmontop/Tornadus/Blaziken/Scizor

How I'd Start the Match: If they led Hitmontop Tornadus, first turn I'd Fake Out Tornadus and Acrobatic Hitmontop OHKOing it. Next turn they'd probably send out Zapdos and I'd taunt Tornadus as I Close Combat Mamoswine with a Fight Gem this should OHKO.

Trick Room

488.png
464.png

What I use: Tornadus/Hitmontop/Blaziken/Latios

How I'd Start the Match: First turn Tornadus can easily Taunt Dusknoir and prevent him from using Trick Room while Hitmontop outspeeds and fake out's hariyama. Next turn Hitmontop hits Dusknoir with a super effective sucker punch and Hariyama is OHKOd by Flight Gem Acrobatics

yes! Yes! YESSS!!! that's what I want to see, someone who understand the power of Blaziken!! some suggestion thought: first of all, run rock slide over shadow claw on blaziken, because flare blitz in the sun is only 5 BP less powerful that a super effective shadow claw to Jellicent. also something that bring the sun is really appreciated by blaziken, cresselia can learn sunny day. Taunt is not the best choise to stop Trick room due to mental herb, cresselia with trick room can reverse it. I think a support pokemon with trick room and sunny day is very good for this team (i know, you hate weather), whimsicott is the best choice, but i've not any idea to who replace with it.

I guess I could replace Cresselia with it, but I don't think hitting Jellicent with Flare Blitz is that reliable seeing as that I won't always be in the sun.

a pokemon that can counter jellicent is very good, like thundurus or zapdos, thundurus is preferible for prankster t-wave and taunt. with hp ice and thunderbolt is very good
edit: also if flare blitz doesn't OHKO jellicent, a defensive jellicent's water spout with less than 50% hp doens't kill blaziken since there is not rain

Yah I guess I could replace Tornadus with Thundurus?

yeah, it's pretty good. the set i've mentioned on my team i think is perfect:
thundurus @charti berry/life orb
timid
252 spA 252 spe 4 def (def to survive two conkeldurr mach punches)
-thunderbolt
-hp ice
-taunt
-protect
also thunder wave is good but i think hp ice is better

Hm Ok, I'll give this set a shot, I'll probably replace HP Ice with thunder wave tho, because then I can control the speed of everything pretty well. However I'm completely walled by Garchomp but I think Latios will help with that.

turn 1 cresselia: icy wind; blaziken:protect
turn 2 cresselia icy wind; blaziken: hi jump kick =bye bye garchomp
or simply latios: dragon pulse garchomp KO, it is not a big threat for this team

yah, i forgot them. cofagrigus isn't so common but jelli and chande yes. also i've seen now that you don't have anything to hit OHKO chandelure except for shadow claw
