Hello again Smogon, after my successful sun team, I decided to make a rain team based around Carracosta DW Ability Swift Swim. I know that Swift + Drizzle is illegal (I still think that is stupid, b/c beating a rain team isn't that hard, you just have to know how) Anyways so I have to use Damp Rock to cover for this so here goes.
Carracosta is the beast of all Shell Smash pokemon, with Swift Swim as its Ability it can reach 716 speed with a jolly nature. But with Swift Swim as his ability it has opened up for some Evs in his attack and Sp. Atk, and a little in HP. Now he can finally run a succesful mixed set with no probably. But it does have its weakness in the OU, Fighting, Steel, Ground, grass, and Scizor. So to cover his weaknesses I need someone who can resist his weaknesses.
With no weaknesses in the Rain, Bronzong is the best pokemon to set up Rain Dance, and the rocks. he covers all of Carracosta's weaknesses with ease. He fits perfectly well on this team with its typing, but since it doesn't have any good recovery moves, and since its hold a Damp Rock it wont be regaining any HP.
Now, I need someone who can also set up Rain Dance but is a little bit faster than Bronzong. Tornadus is a good canidate for that. With good speed, and Prankster as its ability, its good to come in set up Rain Dance and U-turn out of danger. Having a STAB Hurricane in the rain is a big threat to alot of teams.
With Rotom-W, and Sun teams also a big part in the OU, I needed someone who can help me when the Rain is gone, while still being able to sweep. Previously I had a big Electric problem and no pokemon to help me counter Sun teams effectivily. With Latias she brings a resistance to Electric and sun teams perfectly.
With a lot Scizors running around in the OU tier, I need some to completly shut him down. With Jellicent being introduced this Gen, Scizor's moves are completly useless and Jellicent laughs at him and threatens him to Will-O-Wisp him and any other physical attackers.
What Rain team would be complete without Scizor, its the worst pokemon to see in the OU. And a good pokemon to scout other pokemon as well. I'm still suprised after 3 generations it has managed to stay at the top of the OU tier, maybe Gamefreak loves Scizor. But anyways with Bullet Punch being its best STAB and proritey move, its good for picking off weaken pokemon or fraile ones, and U-Turn its for a quick get away.
The Lead
Bronzong @ Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
Sassy Nature
Evs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SpD
Rain Dance
Stealth Rock
Earthquake
Gyro Ball
With no weaknesses in the Rain, Bronzong is the best pokemon to set up Rain Dance, and the rocks. he covers all of Carracosta's weaknesses with ease. He fits perfectly well on this team with its typing, but since it doesn't have any good recovery moves, and since its hold a Damp Rock it wont be regaining any HP. I gave it Light Screen to help out Carracosta's weaker Special Defense stats.
The Sweeper
Carracosta @ Life Orb
Ability Swift Swim
Rash Nature
Evs: 208 Atk / 200 Sp Atk / 100 Spe
Shell Smash
Hydro Pump
Stone Edge / Rock Slide
Ice Beam
I know its DW ability hasn't been released yet, but I came up with this Ev spread. 100 Evs in speed after Swift Swim is 250, and after a Shell Smash its at a monsterous 500 Speed, which outspeeds Base 130 pokemon. With an attack spread of 600 in both stats I believe ( dont qoute me on that, still calculating the attacks stats after Shell Smash). Carracosta can OHKO Max Hp Latios and Dragonite with MultiScale intact. I gave Carracosta Ice beam to hit the grass types a little harder and for the Dragon types, since Focus Blast shaky accuracy.
Annoyer
Latias @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Refresh
- Recover
Well, Tentacruel just wasn't pulling it's own on the team so I had to let him go. I had to many pokemon weak to grass and Sun teams and Rotom-W was a real pain, and I don't have a Pokemon to counter them. Latias checks various threats to Rain teams such as Rotom-W, Virizion, and such. Refresh is so Latias doesn't get fucked up by a random Toxic or something. Not only would it add an all important Electric and Grass resistance it also ensures me to have some way to deal with sun without the Rain
The Rain Summoner
Tornadus @ Damp Rock
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature (+Spe, -SpD)
- Rain Dance
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Taunt
After Dragonite not being able to outspeed a lot of pokemon, he was starting to becom ea burden on the team. Thanks to @New World Order, I decided to drop Dragonite and add Tornadus to just be the Rain summoner. He is my sudicide, with prankster its job is to get Rain Dance up, and maybe get Hurricane, or U-turn out. Taunt is just to abuse the Prankster ability to stop a Pokemon trying to up its stats on me.
The Wall
Jellicent @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Taunt
- Toxic
- Recover
Thanks to @New World Order, I dropped Jellicent as a rain summoner, and mad him into an all out wall. Its new job to stop Scizor, and threat it with Scald.
OU Threat
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technichan
Adamant Nature
Evs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
U-turn
Superpower
Bullet Punch
Pursuit
The final member on the team. There really isn't nothing to say about Scizor except that its a beast. It fits well on my team b/c Scizor covers Dragonite's weaknesses b/c of Latios and Latias running around. Pursuit is for those pokemon that want to run away and get doubled damage by the move. Superpower is for those Magnezones and heatran that want to be sneaky and think they have a free switch in. U-turn is to get out of a tough situation and get into a better pokemon at the time.
Well thats it for my Rain Team, I just wish I didn't have to use Damp Rock on two pokemon and probably wasted a free slot fo ranother pokemon, but I just got to get around it. I'm still fixing up some problems with the team, any suggestions is greatly appreciated, but I will not Switch out Carracosta.
