January 2012 Usage stats

Btw ShakeItUp why the fuck are you using Combusken? I just can't think how this poke can wallbreak with those mediocre attacking stats. Can you tell me it's role on your team?

Don't blame combusken, DON'T. You will regret laughing at combusken till you see it working. Is surprisingly good and while it's not ''a top wallbreaker'' is a nice late game sweeper and has awesome stabs. ShakeItUp surprised me with it in NU and I saw it working here too.

I don't like all the flak that Claydol gets. I don't use him because, yes, he is a liability (other top usage 'mons can be a liability in certain cases too). However, liability or not, he can do a few things pretty good. Dual screens, spin and stealth rock, and troll it up with Magic Coat (:. He has electric and ground immunity, and has resistances to Rock, fighting, and psychic. He gets some decent chances to switch in and do whatever he is going to do... It's not 100% n00bs either. He has respectable "1337" usage.

Anyway my point is: I'm surprised too, but I think, "Hey, nice job Claydol. I hope you manage to keep getting used."

And lol, Muk is breaking 100 next month if I have anything to do with it!

Agreeing with DestinyUnknown, Combusken isn't as bad as it seems to be. With Entry Hazards support, it can be a really deadly sweeper late game, just like Sharpedo but it's just more of a surprise factor compared with Sharpedo as it isn't used that much. Expecting Combusken to rise in usage the next few months in both RU and NU.

Yeah, it seriously is. I'm running Flamethrower and HP Fighting because i'm tired of losing games to hax...but that's beside the point. Even with these two moves, it can still sweep effectively late-game, so with Fire Blast and Focus Blast, it's even more deadly (bar hax).

Hitmonchan>Hitmonlee, seriously Hitmonlee is better in practically every way
Reckless STAB hjk hurts a tonne
You failed with your greater than sign / statement after that, js. Anyway, Hitmonchan is bulkier, allowing it to be a better Rapid Spinner and such; it can even run Foresight. Hitmonchan also has access to Ice Punch and Drain Punch, allowing it to run sets such as Bulk Up and restore its health.

@ shake it up, I meant why is chan being used more than lee

To add to what ShakeItUp said, I'd make the argument that the two fulfill somewhat different purposes, at least, if you need a revenge killer I feel that ScarfLee does better than Chan, whereas spinning if way better on Hitmonchan since Hitmonlee could use that Spin slot for coverage, a Spin is a pretty shit move on a Choice set.

I honestly think Sigilyph is the most broken Pokémon atm. Not many Pokémon can counter it and after a few Cosmic Powers it sweeps with Stored Power.

Sorry if I'm an idiot I've been playing RU for three days. Which is long enough to know how broken this guy is, though.

It's tough to break, but not impossible. Phazing is the best way to deal with it and then just make sure you hit it really hard when it comes back in again before it can get its cosmic power boosts (like CB entei or durant which 2HKO it at worst after +1).

I don't know what set you're seeing to make you think that Sigilyph is the "most broken Pokemon in RU," but it really isn't broken. Cosmic Power, Roost, Psycho Shift, and Stored Power/HP Fighting is completely destroyed by Dark and Ghost types respectively. For example, one of the most used Pokemon, Spiritomb, wrecks this Sigilyph. Other sets such as the offensive LO one can't take as many hits without Cosmic Power. I believe that Sigilyph fits well in this tier because of the large number of super effective moves that exist, Taunt, and Dark types, mainly Spiritomb, which balance it out. If you find a really good set please post it in the np thread for further discussion! IMO, the LO set is the best.

I forget who, but someone was using a Charge Beam Sigilyph against me, and I played them multiple times. It's good because one of it's usual counters, Slowking, can't really switch in. The downside is that it's pretty much asking for Manectric to come in and grab a free Lightningrod boost.

How does Slowking counter Sigilyph at all? Charge Beam is incredibly unnecessary against it. The Cosmic Power set can just boost up to +6 while Slowking does little and start firing away with Power while the CM+Roost version can 3HKO with a +1 Air Slash iirc meaning that if it flinches turn 2 Slowking is dead without even doing anything. Sigilyph should never have to use Charge Beam at all.

Well some Slowking do run Dragon Tail, so they can switch in on Sigilyph and phaze it out. Charge Beam also gets more damage on Mandibuzz who often switches in to Whirlwind Sigilyph away. Still, Charge Beams pathetic damage output isn't going to be hurting them much even with +1 so I don't see the point of using it over Calm Mind.

Shocking! I'm sure I remember somebody getting angry and insulting me for saying that people were using the lead set. How embarrassing for whoever that was! I look forward to the apology.

Cosmic Power Sigilyph is pretty mediocre in my opinion. It doesn't become threatening quickly enough. The best variant of Sigilyph is in my opinion, the offensive Calm Mind set.

For people complaining that Cosmic Power Sigi destroys stall, heres a way to 100% beat it:

Knock Off Mandibuzz/Drapion + a cleric.
1-Knock off its Flame Orb and let it burn you.
2-Whirlwind.
3-Bring your cleric and heal bell/aromat.
4- Done! Your -dark typed mon is now a perfect wall against sigi! Look at him wasting his PPs, you will eventually win.

Offensive CM Set is MUCH more threatening. Ok, it may be much weaker than alakazam, but it wont fall once hit by rattata's STABed tackle

^ i am disappointed in this

ive used this thing in both RU and NU and its one of the best late game sweepers and priority abusers that ive ever seen, you think its high risk? set up some screens, it can take a beating and set up belly drum. with max speed it outruns haunter and entei, and outruns things like sucker punch. only stupid shit like ferroseed and quagsire stops it

it takes some support, but the thing is a total beast late game, it even has lol rock smash to get rid of aggron.

seriously, its incredible late game, and deadly on screens offense, use it more people

I'm impressed by Butterfree's performance this month. SilentVerse apparently likes Bug-types as much as I do.

However, I'd best be careful with Stealth Rock at any rate. I, too, might start using 'Free in RU.

That would be me dear sir, i also run ice gem w/ice beam on it too lol my real purpose for this was because i already had too much set up going on on my team, and i needed a special attacker who could just come in and start shooting away instantly. Charge beam is for SpA boosts and ice beam has netted me so many kills against predicted drapion switches when i am at +2, not to mention it kills golurk when they think they can come in.

It is an unorthodox set, but i didnt like any posted on smogon currently, so i went and made my own, and has worked surprisingly well too.

and all that tentacool usage, that is me ;)
