For those of you that play UU, you know the name Deoxys-D. Love him or hate him, he's taken a commanding lead in the 1337 statistics, seeing usage on nearly 40% of all high-ranked teams last month. I know, shocker, right? The real cinderella story here, however, is how Sharpedo of all things manages to steal second place, even over the menacing Sand duo. Perhaps this sheds more light on the issue of Spike stacking offense monopolizing the list of effective strategies in UU? Or perhaps a new hero will arise amidst the confusion and save us from ourselves...

Raikou is 47 in 1337 stats. Just wow. Swampert just made one pokemon cry by dropping down. Honchkrow being n.5 is really surprising. Haven't seen him that much outside of me playing it but i didn't reach 1337 (almost but people prepared better for Honch). Heracross is from n.1 to 14, impressive. People have to stop using deoxys-d, it is such a awful pokemon because it gets sr up and always one layer of spikes. Or ban him!

Is sand that good being place 3 and 4 and in ''normal stats'' being 30 or something like that? Never used sand because I do not like weather. That is why I play UU.

btw how do they determine drop downs and rises? is it from the standard rated stats, from the 1337 rated stats or some sort of mathematical combination of the two? I understand once a poke reaches a certain percentage but from which usage stat though

When a Pokemon is 50 or 51 in usage (I forgot which one) I think it'll drop if it continues to stay like that. And I think it's the Standard Usage Stats.
 
Toxicroak would be manageable in UU because there isn't any permanent Rain.

Scrafty would just be monstrous. Strong, bulky as all hell, and gets Dragon Dance and Drain Punch. If Scrafty drops, I forecast a pretty immediate ban since I don't think anything outside of Quagsire can take a +1 Scrafty, and Scrafty can probably 2KO Quaggy with Hi Jump Kick if it uses that over Drain Punch. Also, fucking Moxie.

Fighting and Dark are two of the best attacking types in UU, and Scrafty can even run a coverage move like ThunderPunch (pure theorymon) to beat up Waters or Rest+Shed Skin to troll them even more.

sadly heracross is the ONLY one who is resisting. unless scrafty decides to run a coverage move like stone edge.

I'm personally excited to try out RestChesto + DD set with moxie. You're lookin at something that would be scarier than Kingdra once it gets just 2 boost
 
So uhh you've tested that out in the current meta and confirm?

Its pointless to theorymon because its not definite it will become uu and you can't accurately predict what it would be like if it dropped
 
If Chansey falls back down to UU, we might be seeing the return of stall. It would fit right in to all the spikestacking that has been going on lately, and before it was OU it was the best wall in the tier.

It's if it falls below 3.41% usage, in combination with the last three months statistics with a higher bias towards the last month.

I don't know why you guys are focusing on Honchkrow (who really deserves more credit), when the stats are reflecting a huge jump in Hippopotas usage. Just goes to show that sandstorm is a very viable strategy in the metagame. Surprised it took this long for people to catch on, with it being a few months after the Abomasnow ban. Also, fuckin' Gligar. Finally, some respect! But Sharpedo is a huge surprise as well. Just when you thought the metagame was stabilizing!

Its totally shocking to see people use sand, because it wasn't one of the most common strategies even before Hippowdon. Wait, yes it was. Nothing surprising at all about seeing them in the 3+4 spot.

Honchkrow, on the other hand, is RU but proving to be very effective in this meta. I do believe he will be leaving RU shortly, and judging from the RU players, they are happy as can be.
 
What's with the Hitmonlee rise? It isn't exactly a good Pokemon, and I don't see what kind of niche it has over Heracross outside of Unburden, which is pretty meh-ish tbh.

Err...Raikou, more random people running it? Also with the lack of Rapid Spinners the only good available one is Blastoise? It's basically competing with it for bulky water. So no matter how you look at it there are several factors which make it less than desirable. The spinner argument is especially relevant when you see Claydol's rise, that thing is terrible in UU this gen yet it still managed to find room to come up.

Most of the changes are of absolutely no surprise to me.

Sharpedo and Honchkrow have been a long time coming. Both have the advantage that it's near impossible to kill them once they have the first kill under their belt. Honchkrow takes a bit more set up before he can go on a rampage. But Sharpedo only needs a Life Orb and he just starts stomping things, virtually nothing can get away unscathed because of it's mixed coverage and power.

This made me just laugh, I called this months ago when some kept raving about Swampert being godly in UU. Nobody who wants to win will use Swampy, it's just expired this gen and brings nothing to the table so deal with it. It only takes a few rounds of using it to realize that anything it can do, something in UU does several times better.

This. In the whole of Gen 5 UU as far as I recall after Sun ban and even during Hail domination. The top rankers were always commonly Sand teams simply because as a weather Sand is still by far the most versatile.

For those of you that play UU, you know the name Deoxys-D. Love him or hate him, he's taken a commanding lead in the 1337 statistics, seeing usage on nearly 40% of all high-ranked teams last month.

On Deoxys-D, this thing is a (BAN ME PLEASE). It's been established long ago hazards rape most of UU apart and make the things you can use centralized to a very small pool of those who don't mind them as much. Add in things like Roserade and Mew and you have a near perfect combination of hazards, stall and offense.

On that note I can't even begin to express the raw unadulterated hatred I have for that little asswipe Mew, it still always finds a way to mess you up no matter what you run. It's no surprise Sharpedo has started to take command, besides being a great sweeper it's one of the few things that can threaten the stupidly fast and bulky Deoxys-D and Mew.
 
I've always had this sinking feeling that Mew was a little too unpredictable and has this obnoxious way of bringing down a Pokemon or two with him even after you've figured out its set. Both in theory and in play, the little guy is nothing short of amazing.
 
Why not more Weavile? :l
Has amazing utility in trapping the shitloads of Psychic and Ghosts and in revenge killing almost everything that doesn't boost it's speed (and occasionally stuff that do with Ice Shard). Not to mention its tough to switch in to something that has huge attack and almost always a Band or Orb. All that's missing is a stronger STAB.
 
the same reason as always in that it's SR weak and very frail, so unlike say tyranitar or scizor, if he pursuits and the opponet stays in he's dead. Thats just 1 of a couple reasons, although I will admit CB weavile can surprise scizor and ferrothorn on the switchin with a 2hko low kick

Care to say the other couple of reasons then?

You bring a good point, in saying that in OU you have to play mindgames with Pursuit. This is less so in UU where you are going to be trapping much weaker things like Froslass who just die to Pursuit if they are a tad weakened, say from SR, or Deoxys-D which can't do anything to you except get an extra layer of Spikes (extremely annoying but if you cannot deal with one layer then your team sucks). Chandelure is probably the most dangerous thing you try to Pursuit but most of them will be Scarfed and stuck on Psychic/Energy Ball/Shadow Ball when you are trapping them or weakened by SR. Lastly since lots of Weavile use a SD set Pursuit is not always the first thing anticipated.

I have been using Weavile and it is not disappointing me. I fail to see how it as frail as you say it is. An Empoleon did less than 60% to me from a Torrent boosted Scald. It has decent Special bulk for an attacker which allows it to even better trap crap like Mismagius and Chandelure. This is all not to mention bulk is not too relevant to Weavile's main purpose-revenging and trapping.

Lickilicky... Interesting seeing a NU mon so high... I think it was Demonkiller who was using it.
I expected Weavile higher, considering it beats the spikers and breaks a lot of common cores, at least I bumped it a bit on 1337 but not enough though.

And ZH would be useful if toxicroak comes to UU too. I don't see Drain Punch that good either, I mean, it will probably be better to run LO Scrafty with spikes and DD/HJK/Crunch/filler to sweep late game.

Hitmonlee has surprised me a lot, it has more power than heracross (thanks to Reckless) and it hits like a truck, for example, Adamant Scarf Reckless HJK 2HKOes 4/0 Zapdos, which is a lot. I haven't tried it yet but it seems pretty cool for me, I will try CB (Unburden is weak !) to see how it performs.
