Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

That's something we never tested. Mostly because you have to wait over a year for the glitch to activate.

Mine's been sitting there for over two years with the same non-Jirachi save and no signs of its battery getting dried.

For what it's worth, my copy was bought in 2009 and had advertisements for the DS Lite in its box.

Thanks for the seed. I'll see if my cousin's game has a dead battery. I'm not sure how, but he managed to get his Emerald's battery dried out like two years ago (for the record, I bought my copy around one or two years before he bought his and it still isn't dried out).

I don't use timers. The problem is, I don't know how or if it's possible to hit an odd delay. I think I remember hearing something about a GBA game in the dual slot will switch it between even and odd.

Ohh, I see. Well, there are two ways to fix that. If you're using a dual slot Ds, inserting a third gen game will switch your delays from even to odd, or vice versa if you already have the game and just removed.

The other way is to change the year +-1. Let's say your DS clock marks is 2012 and you're only getting even delays, making the year to 2011/2013 should fix your problem.

Ok good, but now I'm lost with checking the seeds. Can someone link me to the guide for breeding shiny and perfect iv Pokémon in HGSS? I can't find where it is.

There are also video guides in this post if you're more a visual person.

Also like previous posters mentioned, using a timer is a good idea simply because it will broaden the range of delays you can hit. This means that you would get more results instead of just the one 493. So please consider using a timer, it will make your RNGing a heck of lot easier in the long run.

EDIT: Rockin X, I know that with Gen 2 games that when the battery died it was simple fix of just opening the cart and replacing it with a new battery(they used watch batteries), so gen 3 may be the same but I don't know if anyone has ever tested what removing said battery would do.

I'm trying to RNG in Pokemon SoulSilver for a Modest HP Ice (BP 70) Zapdos, using Method K, Stationary Pokemon. I am using EonTimer. I have done two test runs thus far and seem to be getting inconsistent frames.

I'm going for a frame of 38, have saved the radio cursor to be at the bottom of the screen, and tune it 37 times to the Pokemon Search Party station to advance the frame to 38. Or so I thought. When I ran the IVs through "Find Seed by IV Range" tab, I first got a frame of 51, then 45. But it listed them as "Method 1 Frame", not "Method K Frame". Does it make a difference I have killed off Raikou and Entei and have not activated the Latios event? I don't see any wandering NPC's. What is causing these inconsistent frames?

Please give us the seed in future posts, I can't tell you much easier this makes things. Now first off, don't save with the cursor of the radio anywhere but the middle, otherwise you're libel to get weird advancements. Next when you put your seed in the main window under Method K, you should see something that says Occidentary frame, that is the method 1 frame. Look for one that matches 51/45 in the 38-60 frame range(to be honest I don't know how much the cursor being down there will have advanced your frame.

Also how are you confirming your seed? I'm pretty sure Elm works, and he is easier to keep track of then the radio.

You should use a timer, it makes things so much easier. In addition to the dual-slot thing, changing your target year by 1 in either direction will change all your seeds by 1 delay, making odd ones even and vice versa.

You should just use another way to advance your frame. The readio can be pretty inconsistent when not done properly. For a frame so low I would just stick to chatots or even calls.

So I used a timer and the first time I used it I hit my seed. So I deposited the parents into the day care. According to the video since it was on the 8th frame it meant it would be the 8th egg. So 7 eggs later (I denied receiving the eggs if that makes a difference.) I saved in front of him holding the last egg. I went to check if it was shiny, and it wasn't and all the stuff I rnged for was incorrect (except for gender which I'm certain is a coincidence. I entered my Id and Sid correctly, and even if I didn't I think that wouldn't have messed up ability and nature as well. A similar thing happened in platinum too. Is it possible for someone to personally walk me through this, say in 6 hours maybe? If not I'd still appreciate someone telling me what I might of done wrong and how I can fix it. If you need any information to better sort out the details just ask. Oh, I forgot to say I called Elm to verify I hit my seed I called him all 12 times or whatever the amount it your supposed to call him.

During denying eggs, did you get any calls? Whether you answered them is irrelevant. All calls that you get advance the frame, so that's not the best way to advance the PID's frame.
Best way to get the egg PID advanced is by calling Youngster Joey.
One call to Joey is 2 advancements. So for frame 8 you'd need to call 3 times, deny one egg, save for the next.
As long as no one calls in between the calls to Joey and saving, you should have a shiny egg waiting for you.

Calls mess it up!? I thought HGSS was supposed to be easier. I just read your guide, did you ever find out if he still advances the frame when wanting to battle?

Yuppers they do. You don't even have to answer them and it'll mess things up.
HGSS is easier in some ways. Knowing what seed you hit, no duo parameters, other things as well.
I always found that Joey always advanced even when he wanted to battle, but others have said he doesn't advance any when he wants to battle. So you'll have to see what your game likes.

I was having trouble with the seed look up for when I hit the wrong seed. What do I do and where exactly? I wish the video I watched mentioned calls... Well thank you I'll try again in a few minutes.

In the seed to time window, you need to press "Search Elm" near the bottom part and enter in the Elm responses you get. Once you press Ok it will tell you what seed you hit.

4th gen Tools > Seed to Time. That's where you find adjacent seeds.
Yeah some videos don't have all the information, that's why I found written guides to be the best for getting started. Videos are amazing no doubt, but they can't hold all the information that a guide can.

Is it worth it to start a new file on sapphire to rng for latios or would it be easier to reset my soul silver file to rng for it there instead?

I'd say to RNG it on SS. Unless, you want 3rd gen moves, and in that case, obviously do it on Sapphire.
