Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

You have been so patient and helpful. Thank you. I am considering making a youtube video of my trials and tribulations with this stuff to help others once I get the hang of it. What you are saying makes sense. Just to confirm understanding, once I hit my seed by making my 9 Elm calls, if I'm shooting for 351, I'd just do the simple math thing and know that I need to advance 342 more by either elm calls/radio/whatever method for advancing it, then head over and begin?

I plan on videoing the encounter and shouting thanks to people, haha.

If you're aiming for 351, you need 350 advancements (again, still need someone to confirm this is correct). So if you make 9 calls, it means 341 more.

You want to make sure you don't advance more frames than necessary so count as if every time you touch the station as if you advanced 20 frames. When you get close to 351 stop with the radios by calling Elm which if you keep track of what he tells you will let you know in which frame you are. Stop at frame 51 and talk to groudon.

Hey, I'm trying to hit an egg IV seed in HGSS:
F1130234 2011/05/27 19:56:50 Delay: 553 Elm Calls: EKEPEEKKKP
But I keep getting something like: KEKPKPEEK, which doesn't get a result when I search. This has happened a lot, and I can't work out what seed I keep hitting.

Try setting your Delay to +/- 90 and Seconds to +/- 3 in RNG Reporter if they aren't like that already, and see if that helps.

Does this mean that RNG Reporter 9.95 will have support for Emerald egg PID abuse with an Everstone?

It's not guaranteed that Emerald egg PID abuse will be implemented in 9.95, but once it is implemented into RNG Reporter, whether it be 9.95 or 9.96 (or whatever version), it will most likely support everstones. I heard that 9.95 was just going to be a quick update to fix 9.94's bugs, so Idk if we'll get anything new until 9.96.

Thanks PoJ. Would it be difficult to RNG the PID of a Tyrogue egg in Emerald since it only has 1 ability in 3rd gen and is always male (so you couldn't use gender or ability to help determine what frame you hit)?

I am working on RNGing a wild scyther in Pokemon Platinum, and I have come across a question that I have been unable to find an answer to. I have found a spread that occurs on Encounter Slot #2, and when I look it up on the spreadsheet it shows that Scyther can appear there as well as Ponyta (Daytime)/Noctowl(Nighttime).

Does this mean that Scyther has a 50/50 chance of appearing when I hit the correct seed and advance the frame the correct amount, or only Ponyta/Noctowl? Please let me know, this question has been driving me crazy!

Thanks in advance for looking.

Well, since there are 3 Pokemon that appear, it wouldn't be 50% of the time... It'd be 33.66666 to however far you want it to go %.
But either way, no. Scyther appears in the morning for slot 2.

Guys, thank you so much. You've been incredibly helpful and I was able to do this after a bit of trial and error. I've been trying to find shiny Groudon through various methods, including soft resetting (forget that now that I know how to RNG, lol) for more than a year. I took video of the capture; check it out:

Thanks again to Exploits, Zoap, and Princess of Johto! There's more where this came from.

I'm glad I could be helpful, even if it was just a little help. Great job! :D

So I was trying to show my friend how to hatch a shiny egg in his heartgold game. We calculated his delay is 503 however there was nothing that used that frame. I opened the zomg timer, and I'm very confused about how it works. I've used it before when my delay was 493, and the delay I had to hit was 493 and seconds were both 14. So what I did for him is put his delay in as 503 and set the target as 797 (seconds both 14) and the results weren't even in the time finder. As far as I know you reset at the first timer and press continue at the 2nd timer. What I don't get is how does his calibrated delay at all affect the the time for the target delay? I don't see how your average affects how long you need to wait at the continue screen, please help. Also in an unrelated issue, how do I catch a flawless ditto?
Don't know if anyone say that... Just so you know, still need help...

I'm not 100% sure I followed what you were saying since it sounded like you tried to hit Delay 493 at one point with a calibrated delay of 493, but if you open up RNG Reporter and widen the results to +/- 3 Seconds and +/- 90 Delay you might find your results. From their use the update feature on Zomg timer. Also, I wasn't sure if you were soft resetting or not based on your wording. If so, I don't know how that works, but otherwise what you do is press on your game at the end of the first timer and press Continue on the main screen at the end of the second timer.

As Alphabet said, expand the +/- delay to 99. As far as the seconds go, if you're using a timer, at most put it to +/- 1.

+/- 3 is excessive when using a timer, I also think that even +/- 1 is not needed. Unless you have HORRIBLE reaction speed you should not be missing your target time when using a timer at all.

It yields more results, so even if they aren't that far off, it's there incase they are for some bizzarre reason. "Better safe than sorry". There is no hurt in having more possible results.

Actually, there is. I recall ToastPlusOne (I think it was him?) saying that if you have too many adjacent seeds generated then Seed to Time might end up telling you that you hit an adjacent seed that you really aren't hitting (because there might be some seeds that have similar Elm responses/Coin Flips).

I think. I don't remember for sure :P

This is rather rare from personal experience (i always have it on +/-3 sec +/-90 delay) since it has happened to me several times. If your results before have been in the general area of your target, then you can safely assume what you did hit. If it is the first result, the above will happen shortly enough.

Its more for confirming via the roamer method than elm/coin flips as that is where similar results are most prevalent.

+/- 3 is not needed with a timer ever. The whole point of a timer is to be accurate to 1/60th of a second not within 3 seconds. The +/- seconds is a relic of the days before timers when mashing in game gave you anywhere between a 3-4 second range. Advising newer members to use an outdated method is silly and ridiculous. So again +/- 1 is all they need if they really feel they are gonna have bad reactions, but even then +/- 0 is less problematic.
