ugh just got in and still a bit drunk after well and truly drowning my sorrows. i can't describe the atmosphere in a geordie pub at the 15th minute and especially in the 94th...the devastation was palpable. i never really expected to get anything out of the game but to lose like that is just heartbreaking. i'm not one to make excuses - we were foolish to concede immediately after scoring, and even more foolish to concede in the 94th minute - but i felt that 5 minutes injury time was a bit unjustified, given the second half was fairly uneventful with the exception of the clash of heads. we defended well and got a few lucky breaks and it looked like we'd be rewarded with a point but it wasn't to be.

can't and won't complain, Arsenal were good value for their victory (i think they had 70% possession for long spells of the game) but a draw would have been a fair result also.

still, we're really enjoying this season and just happy to be where we are. gg Arsenal, looking forward to our next meeting because we seem to have a bit of a knack for putting on a good show

excellent link up by ramires and drogba for that fourth goal and a class finish by ivanovic - worthy of winning any tie.

nice to see chelsea showing some passion again too, it's been too long. di matteo hugging his players at the end was especially nice.

hard to bear for napoli but they just didn't push enough in the second half of extra time. they should have been throwing their keeper and their kitchen sink up but they just allowed chelsea to have most of the ball. disappointing.

Very pleased with the performance. If we continue this way we will surely finish fourth.Watching Rey cry was good popcorn for the match.:DDDDDDDDDDD

Its a shame a team like Napoli are out, whilst Marsielle who have been absolute crap make it through and will now undoubtedly draw Madrid or Barcelona and concede 7. At least Napoli would have made an entertaining game with pretty much anyone left in the draw.

reyscarface said:

he did it again a few minutes later and got a free kick on the edge of the box for it. he playacted but he was within his rights to go down and claim a free-kick because in both occasions he WAS hit in the face by Napoli players who weren't watching where they put their elbows.

that said, he knew he had the free kick - he continued to feign injury in the hope that the ref would brandish a red card and yeah, that is pretty scummy.

I would disagree except for the fact that Marseille's goal against Inter was the luckiest piece of thing I've ever seen. The fact that the ball went off Brandao's back and set up perfectly for him can only happen one in a million tries.

I watched the first half but had to leave, but I'm led to believe that it might have been a decent match :DDD

Happy enough for Chelsea but I always liked Napoli's attacking football so I didn't mind either way. What do Chelsea fans think need to happen in the summer for them to be challenging for the top prizes again?

they need to sort out who is manager
john terry or di matteo. cant have both barking orders out - it won't help
crock luiz at the start so he defends

Uh JT is our leader and Di Matteoo is the Manager. The same stuff happens at Anfield with Gerrard and Kenny.....And as you can see having a leader like him back for this crucial game gave the team much needed motivation and confidence(except maybe for Torres >_<).At this rate I really think that Di Matteo should stay as manager;I bet the players are tired of going through the 'new manager syndrome' so many times and is arguably the reason they've been underperforming. That being said I'd like to address another issue. When AVB got sacked everyone was like 'That was cruel;he deserved to be given more time'.One guy even called Chelsea an embarassment to the premier league.I would agree with that sentiment considering the foolish manner in which Ancelotti was sacked but not AVB.Everyone knows we would not have won this with him still in charge.Maybe it wasn't the players fault after all.
