The Everything NHL Thread

Mats Sundin: 1349 Pts in 1346 Games Played (~ 1 point / game)
Brendan Shanahan: 1354 Pts in 1524 Games Played (~ 0,88 point / game)

Sundin > Shanahan

Bure got into the Hall because he was one of the greatest pure goal scorers the league has ever seen. Also, the league obviously gives deference to those Russians who helped begin the influx into the league of defectors from the Soviet Union (coughLarionovcough).

Shanny will get there, no doubt.

If it got Bure into the hall...

Bure is one of the greatest goal scorers ever. Shanahan was one of the greatest power fowards ever. Lindros was easily the best player in the NHL right there with Jagr in his first 8 years.

Sundin deserves to be in the hall but not in his first year of eligibility. Oates and Bure waited 7 years to get in.

Yeah Shanahan will no doubt be inducted later.

I do admit I'm a bit surprised to see Sundin let in before him though. Can't help but feel there's some Leafs bias behind it.

calgary is probably the worst organization in the nhl right now... at least teams like columbus know they're terrible and are rebuilding.. calgary seems locked into a perpetual 9 spot in the west.

I'm actually unsure if a 12 years contract was really the best thing in Crosby's case. If he stays injured for the rest of his career and only plays half seasons, that could be a really hindering factor in the Penguins case. While they have a great team atm this could play against them.

Is anybody else having a really hard time picturing Brodeur playing for a different team? I always hate it when a player sticks with a team for their entire career and then plays a couple years longer than they should with random teams and put up bad numbers. It just seems like it tarnishes their amazing career to me.

They should do like Mike Bossy. Play 9 seasons scoring over 50 goals, retire at 30 after the 10th season the moment you only manage 38.

If Mike Bossy's back hadn't been such shite, he would've been a top-5 scorer all-time :(

Boom. Watched replays of him on youtube a few months back. Such a tragedy =/.

Also The Decision is today. And... he goes to EDM. Fuck off.

I'm taking my talents to west mall Alberta.

Happy the Oilers finally got a highly sought after FA, but I'm going to keep my expectations for him reasonable considering this is his first NHL season.
