@Oglecent
[*]If you were to leave Smogon for some reason (irl or w/e), what do you wish to accomplish / do before that?
It'd be pretty cool to be an admin B)
But realistically I want to see RU through to a balanced state with all of the DW abilities released (we still have to survive Contrary Serperior and Shadow Tag Lampent)
[*]What has kept you here on Smogon this long?
IDK, probably my leadership, people have come to depend on me in various parts of the site, and there's always stuff to be done.
Also boredom...
[*]Has the well been enjoyable?
For sure !
[*]Would you want to have another round of the well xD
Probably not lol, so many questions .-.
@Oglemi
[*]What aesthetic change would you like to bring to Smogon (main page etc~) if possible?
A new emblem for the top left corner. aragornbird made the current one, and had a work in progress for a new one, but we haven't heard anything about it since.
[*]How many users have you helped get into C&C etc and why? :O
There's probably too many to count and I don't remember everyone that I've helped out specifically, particularly because most people are pretty self-reliant and only need a single push in the right direction to become a good contributor. I've never been one to actively seek out users to get them involved in C&C, I wait for them to make the decision to get involved and I help them from there. Some users that stick out in my mind though that I helped get involved are SuperJOCKE, sirndpt, and Jellicent. There's plenty more that most people probably don't know (YaM and Alonsoforever stick out).
It's what I like best about being a mod is that I can share my knowledge and help out aspiring new users to become good contributors. I've learned so much from working on Smogon, and even if the person is only going to be around for a little bit, if I can help even just a little to improve their writing skills or whatever they're interested in doing then I feel accomplished as well. It's also one of the best feelings in the world to see a user go from a nobody to a top contributor and see their work up onsite. It might seem silly, but even for something as meaningless as getting a Pokemon analysis up onsite, there's a huge sense of pride and accomplish of seeing your work get put up; it's a huge moral and self-confidence booster that can reflect in real life.
[*]Does your eagerness to help others on Smogon reflect how you are irl / your passion of teaching / becoming a teacher?
Probably lol, maybe not as prominently
[*]iirc you said you'll like to be a History / Social Studies / some humanities subject teacher. How do you intend to make the subject more interesting for students? x) /me bad at humanities subjects
By making the subject relatable. As I said earlier in the well, right now most humanities subjects in high school are pure memorization and therefore uninteresting for most students. However, the more that you can put a student in the shoes of the people in history, the more they're probably going to be interested and therefore going to learn.
I plan on using a lot of media when I'm a teacher; despite the state of the History Channel atm, there's still a lot of good specials that the channel airs that I'd like to show my students, particularly the special on the Great Depression. There's also a lot of stuff you can do on the interwebs to get kids interested. Having as many games as possible and anything to make the classroom more fun will also help.
The worst thing you can do for a humanities course is to be a boring speaker and have your students read out of a book while in class or simply fill out terms sheets. You need to make the classroom an engaged learning experience, and save any reading that needs to take place as homework.
[*]What is one thing you wish you know how to do on Smogon and irl? (one each) eg battling / arting
Smogon - Programming or research (if I have to choose only one though I'd go with programming). They're the two most valuable skills I think you can have on the site, and the most sought after as well. I admire the work the people that know how to do these things are able to do, and actually being able to make things for the site with programming would be the coolest thing ever I think.
IRL - Draw. I can't draw worth a fucking damn, and I've always wished I could. I know I can always take the time to practice and blah blah, but I wish it just came naturally :/
