2012/2013 Soccer/Football thread

We need a top quality attacking midfielder as soon as possible.

A world class player in Sneijder is available and we HAVE to take him while we can.

the idea that a mid-table club who can't stump up 5mil for Dempsey HAS TO HAVE SNEIJDER WHILE THEY CAN is pretty lol

There's a difference between not being able to spend 5m and not wanting to spend that 5m (which was 7m actually).

Sneijder is a realistic signing for us. Nobody is vying for his signature apart from Galatasaray and we can afford him.

edit: we can't provide CL football as lee said, so that might be a stumbling block, but I think any player would rather be a Liverpool player and not play in the CL rather than play in the CL with galatasaray (with all due respect zoro)

You couldn't find the money. Rodgers wanted him, the owners wouldn't give him the cash, your transfer policy was, is, and will continue to be a fucking disaster.. and, 'you think any player would want to be a liverpool player' lolno. Your PR lately has also been a total fucking catastrophe (see your PR manager left by 'mutual consent' after threatening a liverpool fan?), you're a mid-table club, just because you won a lot a long time ago means fuck all now.

and nottingham forest won the CL twice but it means nothing because it's in the past and they are no longer relevant to european competition, nor will they be in the forseeable future.

see the connection?

Here's hoping Arsenal - City will be a better game. Sturridge looked good but still lacks sharpness. I do think he could be a very good player.

Also looks like all you Arteta haters were right, he's been dropped now Diaby's back. Midfield will be Diaby, Wilshere and Cazorla. Diaby vs Toure was some midfield battle at the Etihad, this time Toure isn't there.

um, Arteta is injured (and crucial to Arsenal)

Well actually "winning a long time ago" does mean a lot actually, especially since we've won the CL 5 times. Just because we have not been a World Class team since 2009

oh oh oh and 'not a world class team since 2009?' you havent won the league title since 1990. please.

lmao i love how you have sources from inside Liverpool football club

Rodgers came out and said that the club wasn't willing to overpay on certain players we targeted (which included Siggurdson's wages and dempsey's transfer fee). ironically, we overpaid on other players but that's not the point.

and no i don't think any player wants to be a liverpool player. i think specifically said that any player would rather be a liverpool player rather than a galatasaray player. STRONG READING SKILLS

all your posts scream WOMAN LOGIC AT ITS FINEST

Edit: i agree with you and lee, we're not a big club, we're a gigantic club.

not willing to pay £7 million for dempsey but willing to pay 5 times as much for carroll? i mean i'm sure torres funded it but they could've bought someone much better for that than carroll (i've seen people value cavani for that amount)

i don't know much about this so i'm not going to comment on anything else this just stood out as being odd to me

Damien comolli and dalglish were in charge when the carroll transfer happened

Not that i like the club's recent signings but i'm just saying that there is a lot of money available and they chose not to spend it on siggy and dempsey

I haven't seen anybody who isn't connected to Liverpool claim that Liverpool are a big club for a long time now.

Also anyone who is in a European competition have relevance to European, and oh look Liverpool are still in the Europa league.

yes, I forgot how relevant Milwall and Portsmouth and Birmingham have been in recent seasons. when you have to play the Europa league card you're in desperate straits lol

fact is 'big club' status is temporary and has to be earned and re-earned - Liverpool have lost it and if you think that players all over the world haven't noticed this then you're naïve. you've spent more time in the relegation zone than the champions league places over the last few seasons. how you can be effectively frozen out of the biggest competition in football for such a long time now, with no realistic hope of getting back there for a few years, and yet still claim to be one of the biggest clubs in the world is beyond me.

just accept you're not anywhere near the club you used to be. i've had to do it, i'm pretty sure lee had to do it too.

Yes but the season is not over. City have a better first XI, better squad and were more succesful than you last season. Therefore they are a bigger a club. Everton are also a bigger club than Liverpool for the same reasons.

btw, I don't actually believe that, but I'm just using his brilliant logic. Thank you for popping up and enlightening us with your brilliance.

@shade: we know that we are not as big as before. but we were european giants and always one of the favourites to WIN the CL. You can't go from that to midtable club in 3-4 years as others have suggested. Leeds were never european giants, so don't compare yourself to us. You're also in the fucking championship.
