Weird glitch..

Sometimes I'll be cruisin' up and down the breeding route waiting for an egg for ages, twice I've just gone and talked to the old egg man, and he's had the egg there, even though the breeding pokètch thingy said there was no egg.

Anyone else had this happen?

Basically, the dude has an egg the pokètch says isn't there, and in turn it makes me go up and down that path too many times, since according to the game, there's no egg.
So I keep riding up and down.

The poketch app takes awhile to update. You can tap the app itself to update it there and then. It should show an egg if there was previously none

I "update" it like every 10 seconds.

The problem is even when I "update" it, it says there's no egg, even when the daycare dude has one.

Which is annoying.

I think this may have happened to me too, but there is always the possibility that the egg was created just before walking up to the old man. Best thing to do is to check with him every so often.

Why do you even need the App? When the man is facing right he has an egg ready for you. You only need the App when you are somewhere else (not on the breeding route).

Yeah, I've found what WER says to be true if you want immediate.

Updating the App takes a few seconds to realize an egg is there.

I don't know about tapping the screen, I always had to go into/out of buildings for it to update. >_>

But yeah, the facing right part is easiest to see (especially since I'm generally running the step counter instead of the daycare watcher).

I know exactly what you're talking about. To avoid it, I only use the app when I actually have things to do other than breed. Otherwise, I'll talk to the man to find out, since I keep the step counter on when I'm hatching eggs anyways.

Tapping the screen will definitely update it to the current status, but unless you're right next to the old man when updating there's always a chance that he will get an egg while you walk up to him. I think that's what happened if he has an egg that didn't show up on the Pokétch.

Exactly what I was about to say.

I did some vast research about this over the weekend, actually. I won't bore you with numbers, but here are the conclusive results of my extensive investigation.

Daycare App: crap.

Man facing right: always accurate.

The Daycare App is just a new hi-tech gizmo, but the old man has been watching eggs *mysteriously* appear for ages, so of course he's learned to show some courtesy by looking away when it happens.

the same thing happened to me...i got really pissed for not getting eggs, since i only look at the poketch not the old man.

haha

Happened to me too. It seriously pissed me off, because I could have gotten a better start on some eggs and hatching would have gone faster.

IMO the most usefull App to have while breeding is the step counter. With the step counter I'm sure I don't take an egg while the step counter is on 254 or something like that, wasting precious time.

Wait, what?

Also, does anyone else the old man actually taking a step? That was my favorite part of RSE.

In short, when the you take an egg the intern step counter resets to 0 (thats when you reset yours too). When you have made 255 steps (or multiples of it), it reduces your egg counter by 1 (or 2 when you have flame body). When the egg counter reaches zero, the egg will hatch.

For more info read the breeding guides of Peterko and X-Act.

I just cycle up and down that straight line that goes north through the route about and south through the route below, since that's a long stretch without any necessary turns, and repeatedly tap the toch screen to see if the egg is there. Won't take me more than 2 minutes, 3 when Ditto and Wobbuffet didn't like each other.
