Oda also said that he doesn't let Luffy "kill" his opponents because "victory" (breaking the opponent's will/aspiration) is greater than breaking his life. But that also means that Luffy's opponents need to stay "ultimately defeated" (against Luffy) for the OP formula to work.
 
I'm seeing this as "Luffy will usually not have repeat fights unless he lost the first time" more than "Luffy will never fight someone he already beat". Also, Luffy did fight both Buggy and Alvida in Loguetown.

Although, my point was that they could definitely still be very powerful, not that they'll necessarily fight Luffy again.

I know Enel was defeated, but, I sincerely doubt his will was broken. I mean, he made it to Fairy Vearth, and now has an army of Spaceys.
 
Yea, Croc is def coming back in the new world; Oda wouldn't specifically have panels about him and Daz leaving for the New World if he didn't mean to reinclude him.

I don't believe it'll be as an enemy though, either. But yea, he'll be back, along with Gin. Enel is the wildcard here and I'm not sure why he would be back / for what purpose.

As for Fujitora, let's ignore the movie for a bit (because we're not sure if they were actually introduced as Vice Admirals, wiki beings wikis and all). The marines with pink / purple themes are Coby (hair), Hina (hair and clothing), Momonga (clothing), Strawberry (sword hilts), and Yamakaji (during enies lobby he had purple spots on his coat), Jango (clothing), and Fullbody (hair). The marines with feline type qualities are Tsuru (girl), Hina (girl), and Lucci (devil fruit).

I'm not too inclined to believe Coby is an admiral (too soon, movie said he was a captain). Same with Hina, as she was seen to be weaker than Smoker pre timeskip (she admitted she lost to Luffy during the war) and she's been introduced as his classmate, so at best she'll run even with him, not surpass him. She also already has a difference color epithet..."Hina the Black Cage." I think we'll all agree it isn't Fullbody or Jango lol.

That leaves Momonga, Strawberry, Yamakaji, Tsuru, new guy, or random VA with a new pink / purple theme as options. Honestly, with how much random facetime Momonga has gotten, I'm starting to think it might be him (he also just looks like a Fujitora to me lol). Strawberry did get facetime in the FI arc during the flashback, so I wouldn't be too shocked if it was him either. We don't know anything about Yamakaji so he is a wildcard, and I think Tsuru is just too old to seriously be an admiral at this point.

So Momonga, Strawberry, Yamakaji, new guy, totally off...what do you all think :P
 
I think it would be interesting if a villain was able to get back onto his feet after losing to Luffy and nearly defeat him, it would go to show that Luffy wasn't the only one that improved leaps and bounds over the time skip. Although a more likely scenario is that Croc etc become supporting characters in a future arc.
 
Always wearing an uniform of white and purple stripes, the epithet purple tiger would fit Momonga very well.

Also unlike any other vice-admiral, Oda did emphasize Momonga's skills by basically dedicating a few chapters to him. Considering the meeting with him and Boa Hancock was hardly necessary for the plot(Sengoku could have just called her with a Den Den Muchi just like everyone else communicates in the series), one could say it was basically a big Momonga show-off.
 
We also could consider the fact that a VA like Momonga could've easily been given a powerful devil fruit over the time skip. Combined with his Rokushiki and Haki he'd be pretty darn powerful. But is there a DF with a pink theme?? Bubble gum fruit?? Clouds (i know, not pink but w/e)??
 
Pink fruits would include flamingo zoan (LOL) / wind logia / cloud logia / homosexual paramecia / flower paramecia / bubble gum paramecia

Not too many options . . .

Anything anyone else can think of? Maybe for the purple side?

Also yea, I agree. We had a 2 year timeskip; the era is clearly changing and maybe some vice admirals who had previously settled into their roles decided to train / get fruits that increased their capacity. Sure, they were underwhelming pre timeskip..but they had 2 years to get their shit together.
 
Homosexual paramericia? What the hell? And since when has pink been the color for homosexuality? Last i checked the closest to that would be a rainbow. And what would a homosexual paramecia do? Stereotype blast?

Paramecias also give the body unatural abilities. Homosexuality is natural and normal for humans. So its actually impossible for there to be a df that turns a person gay.

Plus Iva already has a similar fruit that proves that dfs can't change sexuality... Even if they can change sex. At least in Odas world, people are borned gay/straight and can't be forced into switching even with all powerful magical fruits.

Homosexual paramecia sounds fucking great after having Momonga face off against Hancock. He'll never have to worry about losing that fight again!
 
I have been rereading OP from whiskey peaks on lately, and having just finished the fishman island arc, I am wondering if Enel may return as the third ancient weapon. Poseidon is nothing more than an inborn power, and from what we've seen the Goro Goro has the power to destroy entire countries (with Maxim), and was mentioned as having a reputation of invincibility according to Robin. If the third weapon is a sky artifact like the moon ruins Enel encountered suggest, then it would make sense for it to be the power of "Thunder." Additionally, Oranos was the primordial titan of the sky in greco-roman mythology, and Enel was the literal king of the sky island. The position of "god" could even have arisen from a Goro Goro wielder conquering Skypeia and declaring his power to be divine.

However, the third weapon being an akuma no mi would be a little strange since they respawn, though Ceasar (and maybe Dofla with the Mera Mera) have shown that you can potentially predict where the fruit will respawn, which could mean that the Goro Goro always respawns in the sky, where there is no gold to build something like Maxim that can destroy countries at a time. Jaya's poneglyph may have had something to do with Uranus even, as the moon wall Enel found has some people that look like the Shandians on it, meaning they must have had some relation to the sky people prior to being hit by the knock up stream

edit: apparently the Admirals names were named after characters in Momotaro (dog, monkey, pheasant).

...You know what? This makes sense. Poseidon is considered a weapon but we only know it's going to do ~something~ with Noah, which is a ship. Pluton is also a ship, which could only be built by a masterfully skilled shipwright (Franky and Tom) and oh, surprise!, Enel also has a ship, powered by its invincible power and capable of destroying entire islands (Buster Call on steroids!). It's weird that Uranus would be a Devil Fruit, I agree, but we still don't know their origin, much less Poseidon's. This also leaves room for yet another character able to build Pluton, even without the blueprints; it would "only" need another special source of power.
