Hi, this is my first RMT and post here. I've only just got back into pokemon after a few year break, and I decided to try my hand at competitive. But enough rambling, onto the team. It's kinda built around U-turn, as it's my 1 of my favourite moves in the game. :P (Changes to the team are in Blue).
Rhyperior (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Lightningrod
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch
Rhyperior takes away the glaring rocks weakness I had before. He can set up stealth rocks, and hits hard with earthquake and stone edge. Ice punch has actually worked wonders on grass types who switch in. His Ev's are for max HP, since it needs to stay alive and wall things, and SDef because it was pitiful before, and could take very little special attacks.
Zapdos @ Life Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Roost
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Heat Wave
I use Zapdos to apply pressure (Not just the ability, lol), as it can threaten a large variety of targets. Not too many pokemon that don't resist electric can happily take Zapdos's thunderbolt. Heat wave hasn't really been impressing me, so I'm looking for alternatives. Hidden power grass takes out stupid ground types who think they can take my attacks, as well as anything that resists my thunderbolt. U-turn is for the momentum, and quite a few people don't expect it. Roost is now there instead of U-turn, as now I have Life orb, I need to recover some of the damage. Life Orb makes it a lot more dangerous, and can cause several switches, allowing me to get of the roosts.
Blastoise (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Roar
- Scald
- Toxic
Instead of Xatu, I have Blastoise. Rapid spin gets rid of rocks/spikes/t-spikes, and with Toxic he can really stall out. Scald for an actual damage move, and it can get off a burn. Roar is for Baton pass teams, as well as Pokemon that attempt to set up (Get off swords dances, etc). Blastoise has however made my team very weak to ludicolo.
Victini @ Choice Band
Trait: Victory Star
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- V-create
- Brick Break
- Bolt Strike
I had a special line breaker in the form of Zapdos, and I needed a physical one. In addition, I have never used Victini before. Also, It can learn U-turn. :P Choice band just increases it's already high attack, with U-turn for an easy switch. V-create just straight wrecks some pokemon, and brick-break just breaks (no pun intended) Porygon2. Bolt strike gets rid of water pokemon who attempt to KO it.
Sharpedo (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Waterfall
- Protect
- Zen Headbutt
Physical sweeper. Speed boost allows it to outspeed and take out the remainder of my opponents team with it's 2 STAB moves, and protect gives it a free turn to get a free speed boost, which usually gets it faster than the opposition bar choice scarf users. I'm considering using focus sash, since it's paper-thin defences can get 1HKO by scarf users. Life orb is for added destruction, since choice items do very little when I need to change attacks.
Umbreon (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Wish
- Foul Play
- Toxic
- Protect
Umbreon do work. Lots of work. With Wish, Toxic and Protect it can successfully stall out quite a bit of the Pokemon I see in UU, and is Incredibly hard to deal with if you don't have a fighting type move. Ev's for HP and SDef makes my wishes really large, and SDef because I already had a physical wall in the form of the giant turtle with cannons. ^_^ Foul play is needed just as a straight damaging move, and can take out a variety of opposing pokes.
One thing I have noticed is that this team is weak to Lucicolo. It is super effective against 2/3 of my team, and I have nothing that is X2 back. Any suggestions for him?
Given up pokes:
Gligar (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Immunity
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Roost
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Earthquake
Gligar is my lead. He has eviolite instead of leftovers because I felt that leftovers didn't do that much, and the defence boosts have certainly helped. Roost is basically for stalling, stealth rocks pretty much speaks for itself. Earthquake can be useful with roost, as long as the opponents poke can't do more than 40% with 1 hit. U-turn is for taunt leads, since it will do nothing and I'll be able to hit a lot harder with another pokemon.
Xatu (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 240 SDef / 16 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- U-turn
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Psychic
I love magic bounce. It's just funny. Also, I didn't have a rapid spinner, and at times this can be even better. U-turn - Momentum. Thunder wave is useful for slowing things down before I can get off a U-turn. Roost is for stalling out, and goes well with thunder-wave. Originally I had toxic instead of psychic, but thunder-wave turned out to be more useful, not to mention making toxic worthless. So psychic is there because I didn't know what else to put, and I wanted an attack that didn't switch me out.
Yanmega (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Protect
One of my favourite pokemon ever. Useful, since it's a very good special sweeper. Protect for the same reasons as Sharpedo, and 3 coverage moves which allow it to take out most types. Everything to do with speed both applies here, as does life orb.
Read, rate, review, and all feedback is welcome!
Rhyperior (F) @ Leftovers
