Tier Shift Metagame (THIS IS BW)

A few things:

First, a few of us were talking yesterday on IRC on some mons that could be really scary in this meta, and we played a bit. It really was a lot of fun. Pokes like Regirock in the sand and Jynx in the rain really shined. Rain Dish Ludicolo did really well for me as well as a sub seeder.

I would also definitely join a tourney for this in a heartbeat.

And as for the ubers changes, I think it could be done in a similar fashion to how things are handled now, giving base stat subtractions to Pokemon based off of usage. If this were to be the way this was handled, I'm not exactly sure what the cut-offs for each nerf would be. But I do think that a side meta with ubers would be a lot more fun. And Swift Swim Ludicolo would be strong with a massive +20 in all stats!

Also shouldn't NFEs and LC pokemon get boost

Also, give me a link to where this can be played.

if you were properly reading this thread you would had known that untiered NFE and LC mons do get a boost they count has NU for this and get +15 to stats and their is a link to a server with this on the first post.

BL are getting boosts at the moment, yes.

Sweet. Alright, so there are more options; in BL1, Kyurem and Staraptor are some of the best options;

646.gif
: 130/135/95/135/95/100 - Hail + Blizzard + S.T.A.B. + Life Orb or Choice Specs = OWNAGE

398.gif
: 90/125/75/55/55/105 - Still as frail as it once was, but it has a little bit more Attack and Speed to work with.

In BL2, Venomoth and Cresselia are the only things in the tier to work with.

049.gif
: 80/75/70/100/85/100 - Still frail defensively, but has more HP, Speed and Sp. Def to work with.

488.gif
: 130/80/130/85/140/95 - Special and Physical wall, like a BOSS! More HP for bulkiness, higher Defense and Special Defense, and more Speed and Special Attack to work with.

Even in BL3 (with only one Pokemon):

124.gif
: 80/65/50/130/110/110 - She becomes more of a threat to the game, as her upgraded HP, Special Defense, Speed, and especially her Special Attack, are certainly those to be matched with Gengar.

What about Darmanitan-Z, who's in Limbo? Should he be left, or should it get a boost?

Some weird pokes are lying around here(I don't think these will actually be usable, but they are kind of interesting): Kecleon has 75/105/85/75/135/55, giving it somewhat more passable bulk even though it still kinda sucks. Might be worth using to set up Trick Room now?

Also, Serperior is now a 90/90/110/90/110/128 speed sub-seeder and probably really wishes it had access to its dream world ability.

Other pokes that are still mediocre but at least possibly usable:

Noctowl has tinted lens and 115/65/65/91/111/85, giving it decent bulk and special attack but still keeping it in a bad speed tier. Still, might actually hurt something now.

Audino might actually have a usable job as a Wish passer with Tier Boost: we're talking 118/75/101/75/101/65 with Regenerator and a usable movepool. Sadly, those are still pretty unimpressive defenses altogether, and a bad typing.

Golbat... 90/95/85/80/90/105 is leagues slower than Crobat but is bulkier even without an Eviolite boost. Also, the SpA increase might make Nasty Plot viable?

Banette might actually hurt something at 79/130/80/98/78/80 and can additionally make some sort of use of its decent Special Movepool. I don't know if it'd be decent mixed, but 80 isn't horrible with a scarf and band can be run with Shadow Sneak/Sucker P.

Seviper is probably nowhere near as good as its counterpart Zangoose is now, but at least he ends up with 115 base in each of his offenses. 80 base speed and 88/75/75 just isn't good enough though.

..Harvest Tropius. 114/83/98/77/103/66 isn't too bad, but his typing sucks and he's slow.

DD Whiscash has 125/93/88/91/86/75 now... More bulk to cushion its set up.

Stunfisk is more defensive: 124/81/99/96/114/47 can stomach quite a few non-se hits and strike back fairly decently. Static can be a nuisance as well.

Vespiquen's 85/95/117/95/117/55 is actually decent bulk now.

Garbodor's 95/110/97/75/97/90, which is outclassed by the other mono poisons in specific bulk (weezing[80/105/135/100/85/75] and muk[120/120/90/80/115/65] both shred it in their respective defense) but at least Garbo is ok mixed-wise and much faster than either.

More thoughts to come tomorrow: Again, these are just really low BST pokes that could see a cool boost if they just had better stats. Probably won't have much of an impact tbh.

EDIT: Oh... Golurk gets the boost. Dat 104/139/95/70/95/70 stat spread?

I was thinking for Darmanitan-Z, that since it is in Limbo, it should have +20 to each stat, because it sucks so hard, and its stats are going to switch quickly.

You MUST be prepared to switch to Zen Mode, and have your moveset ready, and have a different EV spread for Zen Mode to work.

Or just have a completely different EV spread for Zen Mode altogether. I wonder if you can do that... probably not. Wish you could though... :/

How do you work with the extra Hp though? Since Zen activates when you're under half if you get to a point when you're under half or regular darm but over half or zen darm then what happens there? Though it would be cool to be able to use Zen D but it seems like it would either be too much trouble or too unreliable to get him for a mon which honestly doesn't has a lot over some of the boosted fire types.

The biggest difficulty I find with this tier? Playing it, XD
I'm eager to try out the boosted version of my favorite mons, but... it's lonely in there.

I was playing this metagame and I realized that sleep clause has not yet been added, making stuff like jynx and Lilliigant setting up everywhere.

several people have mentioned that shedinja is going to get 16 base HP. while that appears to make sense, it shouldn't. shedinja has 1 HP, not 1 base HP. the only reason why gamefreak put 1 base HP is because it needs a base HP. however, if it was a base HP of 1, its HP should not remain constant from lvl 20 to lvl 100. also the lowest possible legal HP of any level currently is 10, and the minimum HP a lvl 100 can ever have is (assuming base HP of 1) 112 (1+1+110). game mechanics for calculating HP is (base HP*2)+110+(ivs+EVs). hence by right shedinjas HP should remain at 1.

I have an idea: what about all the NFE and LC Pokemon? They're just left there in the dust, overshadowed by some of their upgraded evolutions. We should give those two tiers a boost too! Like, +15? +20? What do you guys think?

Most NFE get +15 by default because they already are in NU (the few exceptions are mons such as Chansey and Porygon2 who are pretty usable on the upper tiers) and eviolite is also a great item on them (NFE get a final boost of +45 Def/SpD with it), though a bigger boost would be interesting in some of them like Tangela (Seriously I've been using her in conjunction with Slowking and Heatran for a WFG core and it's an amazing physical wall)

I just realized something: While Kangaskhan's 120/110/95/55/95/105 stat spread is pretty middling, it means that he is the possessor of the strongest Fake Out in the game (Although there are several Fake Outers with greater attack, the strongest STAB user is Ambipom at 100(or 105 in Tier Boost). I suppose Mienshao/Hariyama/Hitmonlee's newfound 130 attack may change that though) Additionally, he can hit Ghosts due to Scrappy. Not amazing, but certainly a neat tidbit.

Out of curiosity, what are you running on this Rain team? It seems like Sun got the most buffs in this metagame, whereas Rain didn't get a whole lot.

I have a rain team that has had me success even in the games; it made everyone I faced in the games QUIT.

------------------------------------
Thundurus is obviously for the Rain set because of Prankster, and Floatzel will be there to get the rain boost for Swift Swim and Waterfall; however, Aqua Jet is an alternative, obviously for priority. Regice will be the Special wall with its staggering 200 base Sp. Defense, and another attacker because of its 100 base Sp. Attack. And with Rock Polish to set up on the switch-in or the first turn, Regice becomes a force to reckon with. Cloyster gets Shell Smash and Razor Shell, which can also be paired up with Thundurus for guaranteed 1-hit KO coverage with a Shell Smash and S.T.A.B. because of Rain, and Rock Blast can KO a Pokemon in one move with the critical hit also with a Shell Smash. Cofagrigus is there just to stall with its massive defenses; but its Speed cripples it a lot. Substitute is there to take a lot of damage, and to help Cofagrigus set up a Calm Mind or two on the next turn. Shadow Ball is the main S.T.A.B. for Cofagrigus, and Hidden Power Ice is there to take out a plethora of attacking types. Toxic and Hex are two substitutions for Calm Mind and Shadow Ball/Hidden Power Ice, because Hex deals twice the damage when the enemy is inflicted with a status ailment.

Yeah, umm... TierBoost has the same banlist as standard OU. So Thundurus-I is banned.

Also, since neither of these Pokemon get a boost to their stats, physically defensive Jellicent can take one boosted Rock Blast and respond with Will-O-Wisp. Empoleon (whose stats ARE boosted) can simply strike back with Grass Knot or Flash Cannon.
