There ya go

... It all makes sense now o_o

Not to completely change the subject buttt, Is anyone else wondering how Dodrio is gonna participate in sky battles? Is it just gonna float there ._.

Dodrio and Doduo have wings, they're just small. Also, that is a good point, since that family line is meant for running and (according to Japan) Jumping really high.

Also, Gyrados and Carnivine says hi.

So........ doduo and dodrio will be randomly jumping during sky battles?
That's gonna be funny.

Huh. While unmentioned, it is possible for the wings Doduo has to have disappeared while evolving. I guess it will be fun to see how this turns out.

Dudddddeee omg Doduo doesn't have wings either! That's the whole point of everyone wondering how it learned fly xD But anyway I'm just excited to see things like Mantine and Delibird way up high in the sky. Gonna be crazyy

Calem and Serena is kind of obvious, but cute. Calem may come from the latin for hard/tough, so Serena's name may be intended to mean fairness. They're hard and soft, rough and smooth, calloused and serene :P

My first thought was that Calem came from "calm" and Serena came from "serene", i.e they are synonyms.

If you go to Serebii's character page, you can see in Trevor's picture he talks about a "coastal Kalos pokedex". We might get water routes again, and quite possibly have different types of pokedexes for different geographic locations.

Now discuss!

Edit: http://www.serebii.net/xy/characters.shtml

Edit 2: NVM, apparently we have so many pokes that we have 3 pokedexes

I never really got the love for R/S remakes. Much of the reason for the 1st/2nd gen remakes was because you couldn't receive the Pokemon in that region anywhere else. Ruby and Sapphire are also pretty universally known to be the worst of the main series games too.

I hear posts like this all the time, it's funny that Pokemon fans will take anything as a hint for a new game.

All we have during the debut of a new game is speculation so its perfectly reasonable to hear what people think will happen. If gamefreak flat out said "there will be a remake of R/S/E" that wont really be a hint will it?"

And who said that R/S/E was known to be the worst of the main series? It introduced double battles, contests, battle frontier, secret bases, and more importantly RNGing started with emerald

But on topic air battles seem interesting. Far back in the thread I mentioned the possibility of navigating in the sky and finding wild pokemon when using fly. It could actually happen

To be honest, Serena made me think of this at first

Come to think of it, we don't know just how far they're going to take moon references this generation :x

So my question is this...even though it's not a Flying type or a Levitater...is Volcarona allowed in Sky Battles?
Also if ALL Levitaters are allowed...then lol at Eelektross in the air...that shit is going to look as silly as Dodrio XD

The precedent that I had heard earlier in this discussion was that anything where the body doesn't touch the ground in it's sprite. Of course then that means goldeen could sky battle which doesn't make sense

But those Pokemon aren't flying...their floating in imaginary water...
Steelix...magnetism?
As far as we know, ONLY POKEMON PART FLYING OR HAVE LEVITATE are allowed to Sky Battle. Too bad for Beedrill and company :(

I've been wondering about a couple of things regarding Sky Battles.
1. Even though it was announced that only fliers and levitators can participate in sky battles, I wonder if Pokemon with Air Balloon could join. I would love to see Rotom-S in a sky battle. Oh wait.
2. Would Sky Plate Arceus be allowed in Sky Battles?
3.How would moves like Fly, Bounce, and Sky Drop work?

I dunno, maybe you put it in a flying container of water? :P

"Fearow flew up higher!"

Allowing Pokémon equipped with balloon would make what happen if it's popped? OHKO from fall damage?

Invincible balloons in sky battles?
Because that totally makes sense

While an item that acted like that would be interesting in sky battles I think part of why this new battle type was brought into existence was to have a battle type with a restricted pool of usable pokémon. An item that allows any Pokémon to participate would defeat that purpose. Could be that that is not Game Freak's intention at all though.

Since the rumors from Pokébeach are pretty much confirmed by now (although we should not take them as facts yet) are we at least allowed to talk about them here?

And I've wondering about this for a while. The "damage sound clip" that plays when you're hit by an attack is different depending on if you resist the attack or not. We could analyze the trailers to see if this works the same way on X and Y and if that's the case we could apply this to the Fairy attacks from the trailer. Iirc according to the rumors Fairy type was not effective against Fire type and Flabébé attacks Litleo with Fairy Wind.

EDIT: Yeah, it does! And since the difference is little I'm not sure, but I think that Litleo resisted the attack!

Y'know, Sky Battles would be pretty fun...maybe Fly will be a one-turn move since the user is already in the air...and Sky drop would possibly have it's power doubled. Both make perfect sense to me, at least. Any thoughts on how moves could possibly work?
