E3 2013 | RETR-oh no....

Heh, funny thing about the title of this thread. I too was disappointed that Retro's game was another Donkey Kong... till it was revealed that the guy who is composing the game is fucking DAVID WISE! AKA the same guy who wrote the music for Donkey Kong Country 2 and the GBA version of Donkey Kong Country 3. DKC2 has one of my all time favorite soundtracks in a game, and combine that with the fact that I think DKCR is the best game in the series gameplay wise... and I guess I'll have to get Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze for xmas at least!

If I'm not mistaken, he's also the composer of Diddy Kong Racing's OST.

If there is a lava level with Hot Top Volcano's music, I will flip out.

:O
THAT IS AWESOME

I don't know why you only mentioned DKC2, he did most of DKC and some of DKC3 as well.

And also is a cool guy

To be perfectly frank, it's far from a GG. It's more along the lines of "I stand a chance against you now".

Edit: Not a phone any longer, so I can type out my thoughts easily.

I'm happy about this decision and that Microsoft didn't leave their next gen console for dead. I can't say I applaud Microsoft for this decision at all though; this feels analogous to scalding a child for failing a class and then having him pull it up to a C. The movement towards a more Xbox 360 2.0 ideal is one I'm happy about, but I still don't foresee me buying one in the near future. The bundled Kinect / $500 price tag / lack of first party exclusives I'm interested are all deal breakers for me personally at the moment.

Gotta give Microsoft props for listening to criticism. Also, the comment section is so obviously infested by redditors that it hurts to read:

If it's so easy for them to remove all this shit, what is to say that they won't use this to drum up sales and THEN stick it straight back in?

Like Sony taking away Linux..

Also, much like the PS4, none of this has said "WE (Microsoft) won't be doing this..But nothing stops the GAMES PUBLISHERS doing this..."

We are too big of a pussies to hold to what we announce so we change it because We're the best! ~ Microsoft

Sorry microsoft, this backtrack just shows how quickly you will change shit. You already opened that pandora's box of issues, Any trust i had, is gone. Whats to say a year from now you turn all this garbage back on?

Aldoragreel said:
Please note that not ONE Microsoft/Xbox supporter is crying about it's removal. You'd think if they wanted it so badly there would be people crying out about it being removed, right? That's the only way the policies ever truly had merit in the first place, right? Right...?

What a bunch of flip floppers. This makes me hate them more

Sorry I dont have sympathy for a multi billion dollar corporation who tried to fuck me over, and are trying to be all nicey nice to get me back. HELL no

No need to thank Microsoft for this, their only doing it to gain more sales.

Too little too late - just the idea that they wanted to that to their customers as horrible. They're so out of touch with the bulk of their fanbase and think everyone is a 13 year old kid on CoD. You shit on the gamers and specifically took an approach that you are an all-around entertainment box first and foremost.

The fact that they are changing this now, means they could on a whim, go back to it in the future. Nope, nu-uh, not gonna invest in that crap.

I wish there was a "redirect to reddit.com" button on every forum.

Oh my god the BACKPEDALING! It's so sad that this has to be news. "Oh, we're sorry. We're not going to fuck you up the ass, we promise! Please buy our console! P-Please.." I still don't thi-

These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.

Still $100 more for what still seems to be weaker hardware.

Still has a Kinect that I don't want, I have barely touched the first.

Still has a controller that really only improves an abysmal D-pad.

Still doesn't have any exclusive I really care for.

Still xbox live that is way too expensive (edit)

Still not gonna buy.

unfortunately for microsoft, a lot of the PR damage has been done. while i appreciate the reversal, it may be "too-little-too-late" for at least until they announce some good exclusives. still i'll chalk this up next to SOPA on the internet's "mission accomplished" list.

edit: oh yeah price tag is still worse

Of course they would have to take away the family sharing plan if they can't monitor what games you have downloaded... It comes down to whether you want the DRM stuff, or family sharing and it seems that most people wanted the DRM gone.

edit: Also no region lock. also they might add family share plan later in the life cycle

So they don't trust the consumer is what you are saying. So why should the consumer trust them?

lmao finally microsoft
jeezuz
though i am a little concerned that they've done a lot of damage to their rep from this - a lot of people probably aren't aware, and those that are'll still be wary that they might try to pull something this again - it's definitely in my mind. still, glad to see that they actually at least kinda listened.

So they don't trust the consumer is what you are saying. So why should the consumer trust them?

well it kinda makes sense, tbh. the point isn't to spawn 10 copies of a game from the price of one [which is why only one person could access a game at a time]

though without that sharing/family plan/whatever it didn't make much sense and you're right... at least, from what i remember.

I love how Microsoft makes huge changes to appeal to the consumers, and people berate them for changing and say "you still suck". Shit like this is why companies stick to bad decisions and ignore criticism in the first place, all you're doing by acting like this is encouraging their previous behavior.

i think that it makes sense tbh. a lot of people were fans of xbox who were very annoyed/slightly betrayed? with the changes, so they're still probably angry - a lot of them probably won't/don't want to get over it.

i'm a little mixed about this, though. cool that the successor of my first console [fatbox hnnnng] is back in the fray, but at the same time, i feel that microsoft never really does anything particularly novel; most of its ips are fpses, and i think that if they dropped, whichever newcomer that decided to take their place [assuming there was one, i guess] might be a bit more innovative with its titles. eh - maybe just me, though.

I get that people still aren't going to like them, but berating them for appealing to consumers and listening to criticism or saying that it did nothing will only serve to make them not do that in the future.

So now they're getting bashed for backpedaling? Geez at least they recognized that they were wrong and are trying to fix it, give them credit for that. If this pisses someone off so much why don't they just shut up and not buy the console?

Granted, MS could've just not enacted such policies to begin with, but at least their heads aren't so far up their asses that they can't see how bad the system initially was.

though honestly they kind of had to do it to get brownie points with a lot of people; people were very angry with the drm, and it'd be suicide [or, at least, they'd lose a lot of money - same thing, really, to a company], for them to do it.

i'm not bashing microsoft, but people shouldn't say that they're good guy greg for doing this - they're just not being stupid.

You don't fucking praise the people who just now put out the fire they started a fucking month ago just like you don't pat your dog on the head after it pisses the rug. Shit should've been fixed the day after it was unveiled.

You also don't bitch at them for putting out the fire or tell them the fire is still there. That makes them not put out fires in the future.

They shouldn't make fires in the first place.

E; and to add, I wouldn't be bitching if they weren't so adamant about NOT changing a damn thing up until now. If they had fixed this gigantic fuck up sooner, this blowback wouldn't be as bad.
