Pokémon XY General Discussion

I definitely heard a normal effectiveness sound when Fenniken used Glow Punch. Since Litleo is part normal and fire is stated to be resistant to fairy, I'm going to guess that Glow Punch is either psychic or that GF changed the sounds when Pokemon are hit by attacks (the same sound is seen when Flygon is hit by Charizard's Fire Blast later on in the trailer.)

I'm still hoping that Glow Punch is a fairy type move since it fits the flavour.

Maybe Glow Punch is one of those "Dual-type" moves. In any case, I don't really hear the "Super-effective" sound everyone else seems to be hearing. In the least possible scenario, Fennekin used Assist off-screen.

Yo Yo Yo Girl I will let you say what you gotta say buuuuutttttt...... I would love it to be anything but fighting.
If the Fennevolutions were to be Fire/Fighting, I can easily view it looking like a Shisa or Star Fox.

Froakie can be Slippy Toad.

Chespin... could be... Peppy Hare? I'm not a supporter of F/F, but I'm ok with Fire/Psychic. Or Fire/Fairy.

Well it definitely doesn't have anything special about it to make it look like that. I mean, the most I can see it is that it's a Fighting type that pulls off as a Fairy type, which definitely doesn't really help but I feel like we're exaggerating about this whole Fire/Fighting thing anyways. That would be cool though, imagine if that would happen to the elemental punches? That'd help out a lot of fighting types but that's just me.

Here's an analysis video. But all I hear is just "normal damage" sound. Even so, if it's a Fire or Fairy move, Litleo should have resisted it (Assuming WPM's source is right).

The only reason many people are fighting about the sound of the attack is because it is more of a background sound compared to the man who is talking's voice. If "Glow Punch" is indeed Fighting, it could be Assist or a TM move. Possibly naturally learned, but how many Pokémon without hands can use Punching moves besides Wooper? Someone please find a list.

I can imagine us having to fight horde battles against Team Flare. It would make sense having the bad guys crack the shits and just throw out their whole party at once, and you being the good guy trainer you are stick to the rules and just send one out. I mean, it used to happen with Ash all the time..
Oh hell yes. I was so mad in BW when you and two other people (maybe just one other?) had to face down like nine Plasma grunts, and you just had to do a series of single battles. They added triple battles just a town or so back, they should have let you actually play one.

No matter how you slice it, this is underwater; dive's back.
Woohoo! Terrible Pokemon variety aside, diving was one of my favorite parts of the Hoenn games. The underwater music was great, you felt like you were exploring the vast unknown, and whoops I accidentally stumbled upon an ancient chamber containing the tale of the Golems.

the rainbow thing it makes
Is Psychic/Fairy confirmed? I think Psychic/Fairy is likely.

OMG Gamefreak is going to up EV yields? Is the real or a rumour?
As with most things discussed these past 7 months, it is a rumor.

I will be so mad butthurt if Fennekin ends up being Fire/Fighting. That said, I didn't think Glow Punch looked particularly fiery from the still frames, and maybe Gamefreak is just fucking with us.

Oh yeah, and if there is a new dragon type eeveelution, I get my cake and eat it too. I've been saying from the start there will be a dragon eeveelution to finish off the 'previously special' types. That would be dandy.

Although, how would that work? A Psychic type move that always does Fighting type damage? That would only be effective if it's a STAB, otherwise, for example, a Lucario using Glow Punch wouldn't even gain STAB.
you're right in that scenario Lucario would never use it

But Psychic type pokemon that it's designed for? Probably will

Something like that would be a desirable way for multi-type moves to work.
Some set-up where the move has both types and considers match ups for both those types would be too complicated.
Also, what psychic type wouldn't like a move that it has STAB on and that deals fighting damage?

I think Glow Punch is just a weaker version of Secret Sword. Besides, a "mind punch" even if it is a Fighting type move fits Fennekin if it is going to evolve into a Fire/Psychic. Don't draw conclusions from this, GF may be famous for trolling, but another Fire/Fighting would be just outright cruel.

Isn't secret sword the fighting equivalent of psyshock?
secret sword is more like psystrike because its a legendaries signature move its also more powerful
the moves (referring to glow punch and secret sword) could be similar like dark pulse and night burst where one has better distribution and one is slightly more but who really knows

New topic: My guts telling me that orotto is the base form of whatever evil tree it might become because of how small it is and its tiny bush of leaves

There is still a high chance Fennekin will be Psychic. So what if Glow punch is going to be a fighting attack? Gothitelle, Hypno, and Slowking can learn Brick Break while Alakazam and Grumpig can use Drain Punch. Plus, I'm sure Fennekin also has Psychic in its movepool. The only other fighting types who had Psychic that weren't part Psychic types were Lucario and Poliwrath. So, it has a well rounded chance not to be Fighting and Nintendo has most likely realized they've overplayed the hand of Fire/Fighting starters.

I'd say Orotto is base of a one-step evolution line. I'm a Grass type lover, and Evorotto will definitely be on my team, alongside Chevolution and Malamar. Orotto will probably have a Base Stat line up similar to either Druddigon, Piloswine, maybe even Grovyle, but whatever the stats are, they'll probably be a little beasty.

I can hear a group of GameFreak employees laughing maniacally somewhere in Japan. I'm assuming this is just them trying to troll the fans. Besides Fen is pretty much confirmed Psychic anyway (?).

If that helps you sleep at night, sure. :)

Pure grass, pure water, fire/fight confirmed.

Anyone else notice the same logo from Pokemon Colosseum/XD at the very end of the new trailer?

We do have to remember that yes sometimes fire starters have had different type attacks early on: Torchic had peck, Tepig had Smog of all things, Charmander and Metal Claw anyone?

I certainly remember. That tune brings back good memories playing colosseum/xd.

On another note, does anyone find the bike a little too small/poorly proportioned/compressed? Yes I know its always been like like that, but I felt that the first 3D pokemon game could at least make the bike look the right size. I mean the cars certainly look correctly proportioned, why not the bike?

I get this feeling that the roller blades will be similar to acrobike in rse, giving access to unique areas via wheelie.
