Btw, that's not a Mega Crobat guys, that's the enemy, Mewtwo is the trainer's Pokémon.
EDIT: Disregard, apparently you choose Mega evolving before you make a move.

Mega evolution takes a turn. Now everyone can hush up saying ''IT'S SO OVERPOWERED!1!1!''.
The potential in rotation battles will be fun though. Btw, that's not a Mega Crobat guys, that's the enemy, Mewtwo is the trainer's Pokémon.
If the reports are correct, it doesn't take a move. You get to select an attack after you Mega Evolve. This is actually even better in cases like Mawile where you reap the benefits of Intimidate before mega-evolving.

Huh. That's a Crobat, isn't it? That would mean we are getting Mega Crobat.
No, it's Mewtwo (ミュウツー). The attacks are Psyshock/Thunderbolt/Shadow Ball.

Thanks widget

You can opt to Mega-Evolve when you choose a move. You can use the move you chose after you Mega Evolve too.

I read this to mean that it doesn't take a turn! It implies that you can MegaEvolve and use a move in one turn.
Anyone able to translate the moves? (EDIT: Thanks to Stellar)

Fire resists Fairy. Fairy takes normal damage from fire.

It is looking more and more like we'll be able to trust the Pokebeach type-matchup rumors.
This is quite a buff for Fire types. They resist Fairy attacks and Steel attacks while being able to land an effective hit on both. Both defensive responses to dragons will have a bit of trouble with Fire. I guess hereby we're sentenced to using Heatran forever...heh

That's sort of how I expected it to work/what I was hoping for. You get complete control over your trump card and can mega-evolve+attack in the same turn. Both teams only get one mega-evo, but I'm guessing you can run those megastones on more than 1 mon and choose which mega evo gives you a better match up. Assuming this is how it works, you get a lot of flexibility+surprise factor in the battle at the cost of a couple item slots.

During the Pokémon Game Show, it was shown thanks to a picture from a Twitter user, that the method of Mega Evolution is through a simple button in the attack interface when your Pokémon has the Mega Stone attached to it. In the demo, you also ride on a Skiddo in a route and seen riding a Rhyhorn. In it, you also battle Professor Sycamore, where you use Mega Evolution, and battle Shauna & the other character. Fennekin has the moves Psywave, Flame Charge, Fire Spin and Tail Whip
From Serebii.

How much more is needed to get people to trust these things, honestly....

Oh!
By the way, though there's no discussion over it, please remember to not discuss any new things unrelated to the XY Games here like the new anime or the new TCG sets

lol yeah. They've been right on the money.
We can probably take it as a fact that:

Defensively
Fairy's immune to Dragon
Fairy takes super-effective damage from Steel and Poison.
Fairy takes neutral damage from all other types

Offensively
Fairy hits Dragon, Fighting, and Dark super-effectively.
Fairy is resisted by Fire and Psychic.
Fairy hits all other types neutrally

So now that it's confirmed that we get to choose when exactly to trigger MegaEvolution (as a poster correctly suggested) it really adds another level of strategy. What I'm wondering now is whether it'll be possible to Knock-off or Trick MegaStones before transformation. Yikes. This would be a nice thing to test during the demo if possible.

So effectively instant transformation. NICE!

As for Fairy-type match up I've pretty much trusted the pokebeach rumors, it doesn't hurt to get official confirmation though. Just to be 100% he didn't mess up/forget anything.

Fennekin apparently learns Psybeam.

Sounds like there's still hope after all.
this isn't anything new
We've known the thing was using Psychic attacks since the first trailer, many thinking it was Psybeam

Pretty lame they gave it 2 fire attacks and not Glow Punch

So guys, theoretically, this happens.

''Ace trainer Michael J. sent out Mawile!''
''Mawile's intimidate lowered enemy's attack!''
(Presses mega evo button)
''Mawile mega evolved, it's now radiating with power!''
(Chooses Iron Head)
''Tyranitar fainted!''
My point is, Mawile can use intimidate, and then switch to have huge power right?

Looks like it.

Did anyone at the demo notice any new restrictions/requirements to MegaEvolve?

my question is do pokemon mega evolve BEFORE attacks are used or does it depend on speed like using an attack does?
Appears that when you select an Attack you can pick to go mega. When you do, then you chose a move. Then the actual battle happens. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

His question seems to be more in the vein of this:

Assume Pokémon A is faster than Pokémon B and has chosen to attack this turn. Pokémon B has chosen to mega-evolve and attack this turn.
Which of the following happens?
  1. Pokémon A deals damage to Pokémon B. Pokémon B mega-evolves. Pokémon B deals damage to Pokémon A.
  2. Pokémon B mega-evolves. Pokémon A deals damage to Pokémon B. Pokémon B deals damage to Pokémon A.
Unrelated:
Serebii said:
After the battle, a video runs of the game. It is also said that running is default, with you having to press the B Button to walk.
BEST NEWS YET!

And there's a potential scenario arising from 2.

2b. Pokemon B mega-evolves. Pokemon B deals damage to A. Pokemon A deals damage to B.

It's the case where MegaEvolution causes B to become faster.
So if MegaEvolution is always first, anything might happen.

And what if both players choose to MegaEvolve their Pokemon on the same turn?
It would seem fair for them both to MegaEvolve first before attacking regardless of relative speeds.
In which case MegaEvolution is probably always the first thing in a turn (scenario 2)
lol. I doubt we'll find out for sure until we get hold of the games.
