Pokémon XY General Discussion

I like the trend of more elaborate architecture. It's interesting to see how the Pokémon Centers have changed from a simple box, to a more complex-looking box, and now it has facade and roof details too.

Still a step up to the Phenac City Pokémon Center from Colosseum/XD, though. But I daresay it has passed the "concrete bunker" design of the one in Agate Village.

I don't think parting shot does damage. serebii describes it as "This move lowers the opponent's Attack and Special Attack stats, and then causes the user to retreat from battle", which makes it sound like it doesn't do damage. it would, however, still be pretty rough if combined with intimidate and a good defensive switch.

If you guys want to speculate about the effects of moves/Pokémon on competitive play, please take that discussion to one of Smogon's competitive forums.

In-game looks good. I like it

How much customization do you all think we will get? Like just different coloured pants or shorts as well? Jackets or no jackets? Cap-less?

i'm very annoyed they nerfed steel defensively so much. why would they remove ghost and dark type resistances? the nice thing about steel was how it was so inclined defensively.

2 Swords with no guard doesnt scream defensive
I wouldn't be surprised if it had good or at least solid stats though. Look at golurk and machamp both have pretty damn good amounts of bulk, but they are both pretty slow on the same token. no guard is a "come at me" type ability it would be extremely stupid to give a pokemon who could not take a hit this ability you know what I mean?

Just because previous possessors of the ability can take a hit, doesn't mean that they were given the ability because they could take a hit. GF have no pattern in what ability goes to which pokemon.

The best bet on Doublade getting good bulk is because of it's steel typing, but even that isn't much to put your hopes on. Just look at Mawile's overall bulk.

Speaking of the menu, does this mean they've finally given up on that crappy "here's a piece of 90's technology that we tried to emulate as an interface to give you guys a cute way to handle information" thing they've tried to push with GSC (PokeGear), Colosseum (P*DA), DPPt (Poketch), and BW/2 (C-Gear)? I've heard nothing about our latest PokeNav replacement pre-release. I know Ruby/Sapphire had the PokeNav too, but that one wasn't caught up on skeuomorphism. Skeuomorphism is only cool in games that are heavily atmosphere dependent, like the Fallout series.

Ummmm I never said they were. I just said it seems to be a pattern they are following so far. You can say they don't really have patterns with the things they do but I have to disagree with you they have patterns in which they choose abilities they don't just hand shit out willy nilly. Look at levitate, magic bounce, magic gaurd, and natural cure and other abilities all have reasons or patterns behind them.

Machamp and Golurk look like they have bulk. Freaking muscles and armor. Doublade... He's got a sheath?

Gamefreak made it clear that they focused primarily on balance in 6th gen. Hence Dragon (most offensivel) and steel (most defensive) types getting nerfed. I for one am ecstatic about steel losing its dark and ghost resistances. Can't wait to blast gotdamn Jirachis with my life orb shadow balls from gar. God I hate Rachi. Needed this nerf
