Good god lol one of them looks like a cupcake with down syndrome and the other like something out of the yellow submarine movie. (And no.......that is not a good thing. The creatures in the movie were pretty goddamn creepy.)

oh and (eye roll) another mega evo for Charizard? Give me a break.

well...no one can mention things that might be fake....I'm ok with with...but moderators, answer me something....if someone with a copy of the game film it playing and show on the internet...it wouln't be "official"..but it would be real for sure! I'm allowed to post that?

Edit: it has new information: quilladin stats, so someone can calc the base stats here....something maybe new about character customization...a new pokemon name too .....can i post the link here with the videos?
I can sense your curiosity tingling. I've already asked Stellar about this. It probably won't be allowed. Meh, the game is days away anyway.

I was thinking of a theory about the X/Y exclusive Megaevos, so I compiled a very short list which disproved said theory. There is zero correlation between Mega eye color and X/Y exclusivity, interestingly enough.

Mega Charizard X: Red eyes
Mega Charizard Y: Blue eyes
Mega Mewtwo X: Blue eyes
Mega Mewtwo Y: Red eyes

Like Fuzzball said, this is the thread for Officially announced information before the 12th. Information that is NOT officially revealed (IE, from Nintendo and or then confirmed in Corocoro etc) is not to be talked about here. That sort of conjecture should be put into the Spoiler thread which can be found here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/spoilers-pokémon-xy-leaks-discussion.3489007/

DO NOT CLICK THE LINK ABOVE IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS.

Use the spoiler thread. I don't understand why this is hard to grasp. These are the exact reasons the spoiler thread exists.

So I was discussing Mega Charizard X with my roommate and... yeah.

Seriously though, I actually quite enjoy it's design. The shoulder spikes are my only complaint, but it's certainly better than some of the other over-designed monstrosities passing as Mega Evolutions.

MORE SPIKES
MORE

But seriously, I like the Sugimori art better, the "drool" flame looks great, while the game model looks like it's eating a blue scarf. BUT, that's not to say that I'm not excited about it! I believe it was mentioned that some ground moves can't be used in Sky battles? So there's that. But Aerodactyl will most likely run rampant in Sky battles, at least MCX isn't 4x weak against Rock anymore.

As it stands, I like MCY's design a TAD bit more, but I LOVE MCX's typing. Good thing I'm getting both games.

i want them both but i don't have the cash for both games @_@

anyone know if the item can be traded between games or if it's X only?

And of course I get stuck with dumb-ass mega charizard y. Figures.

My question is, though, if that is a regular mega charizard x, that what will the shiny look like?

I can't help but feel that despite the coolness of MegaCharizard X, it will actually find more problems that MegaCharizard Y, as they way they are trying to hype this form just makes it seem like a glorified Darmanitan.

Though with that said, I actually like the look of the Y form better. The sleekness of Y is way cooler to me than the color change and spikes of X.

Sadly I'm getting X.

Give Darmanitan a second STAB for ridiculous coverage, a MUCH better+exclusive defensive typing, more speed and access to Dragon Dance plus Elemental Punches and I bet it gets banned in a heartbeat...

I love both, but X looks cooler to me. I don't like that it uses the shiny color though.

Wonder how much its ability will boost contact moves.

I think the reveal of Mega Charizard X is pretty exciting beyond the simple cool factor of Charizard finally being a dragon.

We've gotten two Pokemon with two mega evolutions so far with Mewtwo and Charizard. Among those two, you can recognize a sort of pattern. The Y Mega evolutions seem to accentuate and add to a major aspect the Pokemon was renouned for. In Mewtwo's case it was its Speed and Special Attack while Charizard got a buff for its larger Special Attack. With X Mega evolutions though, we seem to get a drastic change in the Pokemon's theme, so far based on an aspect of the Pokemon that's been there, but outshown. Mewtwo and Charizards both had pretty nice physical movepools to work with, but didn't have the stats nor typing to take full advantage of them.

Basically, I think that if we get any more X & Y Mega evolutions, X will take a pretty drastic change in character while Y evolutions will add to the Pokemon's existing theme. A bit of a flimsy theory given a grand sample pool of two Pokemon, but the similarities are there.

(I really want Grass / Dragon Sceptile Mega Evo BTW :>)

I'm just referring to the that Darmanitan is a powerful physical attacker with an ability that boosts its most powerful moves. Unless the new ability boost is significantly larger, in a contest of sheer power, Darmanitan will likely win, thanks to items. Not saying it will be better or worse or anything. That was not even supposed to be a competitive analysis. It just seems to me that the features they are accentuating are those that Darmanitan is already well known for.

Darmanitan has a notoriously low BST, but CharX will have stats on par with "legendary pokemon".
Also, Darmanitan's lame speed tier+bulk forces it to run scarf, so it is not like it usually gets an item boost anyway.
Victini, Arcanine, Blaziken and more are physical fire types... It's not just Darmanitan and I don't think Charizard X is comparable to any of them, it's pretty different.

This seems reasonable and (if it is true) it makes me quite excited/ wary of the other X MegaEvos.

But because, as you rightly mention, we only have a sample size of 2, it's hard to conclude anything at this point I guess. It may be possible that other theories are correct (such as X MEvos boosting physical stats and Y MEvos boosting special stats). And it could just be a coincidence.

But I agree with you that using MEvos to change the "theme" of a pokemon is pretty interesting. There are a lot of pokemon (some already confirmed to have MEvos) that have the potential to use different sets due to their movepools, but are inhibited by their ability/ type/ base stats.

It also brings a lot of variation (potentially). If your opponent has a Charizard for example, it could be "regular", it could be the Y MEvo with a dangerous specially-based Sun set or it could be a DD/ choice band/scarf X MEvo. The same applies to Mewtwo.
Wow the hype train for Mega Charizard X is strong here.
Don't forget it's the only dragon that can't hold a Choice Scarf and that's 4x weak to SR.
Mega Charizard Y's Drought is much more valuable than anything its X counterpart has to offer.
Don't you think its a bit early to call this? For all we know, Mega Charizard X could get a monsterous attack and speed boost that compensate for the 50% damage. And we do know that Mega Charizard X is the only dragon (besides reshiram) that can smash fairies in the face with a STAB fire move.

Mega Charizard Y is obviously going to be impactful with drought, but it is not an instant drought like ninetails since as you must "use up" a turn to Mega evolve. And considering it also has SR issues getting a switch in and then using up a turn just to set up the sun obviously has its difficulties.

Origins was brought out to showcase Mega Charizard's strength, in a show that was clearly aping the game as much as possible. Mewtwo wiped the floor with Articuno, and then Charizard's Mega form wiped the floor with Mewtwo. I'm pretty sure that's as close to confirmation as we're going to get that Mega Evos are meant to sit on par with Tier 1 legendaries like Mewtwo, Ho-oh, Lugia and Rayquaza for power.

Mevolving does not use a turn to evolve.

Totally agree there. This makes choosing X & Y more significant in terms of battling. In the past version exclusives havn't bothered me much but this time round I can't make up my mind.

You can trade Mega Stones so you can get X evolutions in Y and vice versa. I pre-ordered both though.

MEvos can't use Choice items, or any items beyond their required Mega Stones for that matter. Why do people seem to be constantly forgetting that? :/

That said, the ability to hold a different item is likely the only factor saving a number of Pokémon from being completely overshadowed by their MEvos.
