Looks like it has a higher BST than Staraptor and great mixed attacking stats. It's Infernape in the air.

I'm not too good at the calculating game, so I just checked the stats of a Staraptor at level 35 with average IVs and EVs. It's possible that this just has some exceptional numbers, of course.

Err can someone confirm whether we are able to get the starter pokemon that the one we chose is strong against, via an in-game trade?

I am very excited to try that now. Looks faster than infernape, but generally weaker. I'm just hoping it has better stats than swanna

@ Rukario: At least theif can possibly steal Gardevoir's at the end, in-game.

Has been confirmed multiple times.

Flame Body?
That ability doesn't really fit on a frail sweeper.

I'm really hoping we get a second ability, or that Flame Body et al. have been changed to be 100% chance on death. I AM NOT SAYING THAT THIS IS THE CASE. Just a possible road to go down since most of the pokemon who get Flame Body, etc. aren't exactly durable, which means you never really enjoy the abilities in story mode, let alone wi-fi. Still, it beats the tar out of Keen Eye (can this ability please pierce evasion? Birds would love you so much for that.)

"Thinks he found"?

Something seems iffy about that sentence. Either, he found it, or he didn't. He should know for certain, after all it's his experience.

Talonflame: 75/85/65/75/65/130, give or take a little.

Clearly GFs philosophy for new pokemons these days is either fast and weak or slow and strong. Well, for non ubers anyway, I'm not sure this is a new balancing act or just coincidence. Talonflame might be able to power away against flying neutral/weak opponents even with those stats thanks to STAB BB, but bulky Steels can tank him and inflict him with status or something, especially under rain. Unless he gets Flare Blitz...

I think it does.

I wouldn't sell Talonflame so short already. Fire/Flying is a superb offensive combination for a play-through of the games. It's very fast, and those offenses are entirely serviceable for the job it will have. We don't even know its moves yet, so it's too soon to call it a done deal. In fact, were I not getting Fennekin, I would definitely add this to my team. Maybe on another run.

Damn thats actually a really fast bird (Possibly faster than Swellow!), that base attack is pretty underwhelming though :/, i was hoping it'd be a bit higher simply because i like talonflame a lot. Right now i'm just hoping it has a decent movepool and/or a good secondary ability like Reckless or something (I'll cry if this thing doesn't get Flare Blitz or another good physical fire move ;-;). Either way i think Talonflame will get on my ingame team pretty easily.

EDIT: Okay it gets Flare Blitz, awesome!

Mhm.

Swellow got Guts. Staraptor introduced us to Brave Bird and Close Combat. Let's not sell Talonflame short before we see what its movepool is like, the need for a Fly HM seems to encourage Nintendo to put a decent amount of effort into their early flying types for at least the story mode.

We already know that it gets both Flare Blitz and Brave Bird, being the first pokemon to get STAB on both of the best recoil attacks in the game.

Those attacking stats are awfully low. It needs something else besides Blaze (Guts?) to be able to do any meaningful damage.
Speaking of abilities... I'm intrigued by this item you get for 200 BP that lets you change abilities. It's possible new abilities have been added to old pokemon in the transition to gen 6 and we can use this to discover them. There is no Dream World equivalent for gen 6 right?

Could you provide a link to info about this? It's possible that since DW is coming to a close, that this could be the new way of accessing hidden abilities.
