Been lurking on these boards for years, decided to finally post..
I'm extremely OCD and I have to breed 6-IV Pokemon instead of 5-IV, which is making me miserable, but I know if I don't, it'll bug the crap out of me later knowing I have an imperfect Pokemon when I could have had a perfect one. I have around 12 6-IV Pokemon now, so things haven't been going that badly (I've been having insanely good luck).
Anyways, I have 4 scenarios that I'm curious about:
Couple A:
31/31/31/31/31/x Mommy-mon (Destiny Knot)
x/31/31/31/31/31 Daddy-mon
Couple B:
31/31/31/31/31/31 Mommy-mon (Destiny Knot)
31/31/31/31/31/31 Daddy-mon
Couple C:
31/31/31/31/31/x Mommy-mon (Destiny Knot)
x/31/31/31/31/31 Daddy-mon (Power Item)
Couple D:
31/31/31/31/31/31 Mommy-mon (Destiny Knot)
31/31/31/31/31/31 Daddy-mon (Power Item)
My question is, what is the difference in probabilities to breed a 6-IV Pokemon between Couple A, B, C and D? I don't need exact numbers (I'm still struggling with understanding the underlying math behind breeding) but is one better than the other? Is the presence of a Power Item affecting anything at all, and how do we know this?
I know you can only inherit 5-IV's with Destiny Knot and the last stat has to be re-rolled, but is it possible to have this happen?
Couple D (again):
31/31/31/31/31/31 Mommy-mon (Destiny Knot)
31/31/31/31/31/31 Daddy-mon (Power Item)
Game selects inherited stats as x/31/31/31/31/31
Daddy-mon is holding Power Weight, which guarantees HP is passed down, resulting in 31/31/31/31/31/31
Am I misunderstanding how the breeding mechanics works? Is the above scenario actually possible, and thus a Power Item increases your chances of getting a 6-IV Pokemon?
I'm keeping track of my own breeding, but I'm having a hard time understanding the odds because I've been having both spurts of incredible luck and long dry-spells.
Forgive my bad understanding of the game's math, but I think if I get these issues straightened out in my head I may possibly begin to grasp this.
