So I'm fairly new and having just started competitive battling in gen 6, this team is the second iteration of my first team. I've used it quite a bit and it seems to win more than it loses so I figured let's see what other people think.
The basic idea here is to ignore most hazards and weather effects and just beat through people.
Scolipede (Skud)
Offensive Baton Passer/Lead
Item: Black Sludge
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Speed Boost
EV: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
- Megahorn
- Substitute
- Baton Pass
- Protect
Unless I can tell that someone is going to lead with a specific pokemon Skud always leads the charge. Skuds main job is to use protect and substitute to set up a few speed boosts then pass them on. Later on he can redo this job or serve as death fodder. He does kill quite a few things with megahorn though.
Reuniclus (Blobette)
Setup Sweeper
Item: Life Orb
Nature: Modest
Ability: Magic Guard
EV: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpAtk
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
I don't think there are any surprises here. While Blobette never sweeps whole teams she can generally take out 2 or more mons before going down unless I do something dumb. She's also loads of fun for when I predict a damaging status effect.
Mawile (Precious)
Mega Mawile
Item: Mawilite
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Intimidate (Huge Power)
EV: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDef
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
Mega Mawile is the reason I got into this gen so the team was built around her. She is not essential to my strategy but she fits the team nicely. She does her best if she can safely get an early game baton pass or as late game clean up. She has also proved to be one of my safest switch ins to entry hazards second only to Blobette who ignores them.
Gyarados (Mad Moxie)
Set up Sweeper
Item: Expert Belt
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Moxie
EV: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Ice Fang
Moxie is kind of a mindless sweeper, she comes in, she kills stuff, she gets hit with an electric attack and dies. Dragon dance could probably go away for a different coverage move as I almost never use it. I use the expert belt because I don't want to give up the ability to change moves for the extra power of a choice item, and I don't want to lose moxie boosts just to change moves.
Gourgeist (Jacqueline)
Supersized Physical Wall
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Impish
Ability: Pickup
EV: 252 HP / 166 Def / 92 Spd
- Seed Bomb
- Leech Seed
- Shadow Sneak
- Will-O-Wisp
Serving as both my main physical tank and a wall breaker Jacqueline has won me several games that I would have lost otherwise. The choice of 92 speed EVs came from the uncharted territory thread for gourgeist suggesting that you give it that so it out speed scizor, which it has done. I also realize that pickup is not the ideal ability on it I just haven't gotten around to farming the BP to change it (had to do it once for Blobette and am not looking forward to a repeat.)
Goodra (Goopy)
Assault Vest Special Wall
Item: Assault Vest
Nature: Calm
Ability: Gooey
EV: 252 HP / 252 SpAtk / 4 Spd
- Thunderbolt
- Sludge Bomb
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
Goopy has thus far proven to be a incredible special wall. So far the only unboosted moves that OHKO him are Outrage and Play Rough which I know are physical. I'm sure there are others that I haven't seen yet. I've found that he's a fairly safe switch in to a lot of threats.
All in all I'm proud of this team but I want to get better in competitive battling so I would like to get some input into it.
