A big reason is the versatility mega luke has. Switch into your spdef wall and get destroyed by a physical move. Switch into your def wall and get vaporized by a special move. Switch into blissey/goodra having already seen a special move and get crushed by adaptability CC as it turns out to be mixed. The stats aren't the only reason that makes mega Luke super powerful, but its the ability to run mixed, physical, and special along with those stats and adaptability that's makes it so hard to counter :D

This is an excellent summary of some of the reasons that MegaLuke is a very strong suspect candidate.
Another is the quintessential overcentralization argument.

I have a shiny female scragy in a luxruy ball brave nature and not perfect iv but you can breed her, a 5iv spitback skarmory with stealth rock,whirlwind,brave bird and dril peck,spit back carnava

Heya! Im looking for a spare Rotom (any form). IVs doesn't matter since I plan to breed a few.
I don't have much fancy for trade, but Id greatly appreciate the help, and if you need something simple, HA poke or an item or something like that Ill gladly help you back out.
