What is the hardest Video Game you have ever played?

Seriously.

I'm not talking about Speed Runs or Challenges. I am asking about a normal run through of the game in particular.

One of the hardest games I have ever played is Mega Man X6. It was rushed and was so horribly made that you could get stuck in an area because you don't have a certain weapon or armor. Level Design sucked, Controls were a little clumsy and some bosses were sheer insanity.

Holy shit, Battletoads co-op. My cousin and I would spend summer after summer trying to beat that fucking hoverbike level in Battletoads & Double Dragon.

The hardest game I've ever played and enjoyed was Ninja Gaiden for XBox. The game really forced you to get better as the game progressed; you had to learn how to use combos, magic, and all of the different weapons just to stay alive. I think Ninja Gaiden is one of the few recent games I've played where the lowest enemy can still easily kill you.

And of course every Contra game.

hahaha oh yeah, Infinity Mijimon gave me nightmares.

For some reason I dont remember that being stucked in levels thing you and others mention about that game.

as did saving reploids.

I think I still enjoyed my run through it though but I wouldnt play it again, or play X7 again because saving those damn robots was annoying.

Anyway, the hardest game I played in my book, is Super Ghouls and Ghosts. That game is pure madness.. and somehow still manages to be one of my favorite games.

Also come on Jackal, use the 30 lives code.

One great example is fighting High Max too early (I.E not having the right weapons). Another example, though not impossible, is a jump in Gate's Fortress where you are X and it's acid raining. There's a jump that only the Blade and Ultimate Armor Xs can make.

That Ghosts n' Ghouls or whatever game. I think most people who have played would agree with me, that game is impossible sometimes.

AGH FUCK THAT GAME WAS SO ADDICTIVELY FRUSTRATING

i still love it, though. high max was a total (BAN ME PLEASE).

anyways, hardest game ive ever played is tales of eternia (tales of destiny II on its playstation release) on hardcore mode. its also my favourite game, which is why im attempting a solo hardcore mode game, and i think i might be able to do it!

Most games I play aren't really hard, just easy and fun(Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, etc.) So the hardest game I've probably ever played is Metroid Prime. lol.

A game that I just recently beat is Silver Surfer for the NES. It's definitely one of the hardest games ever made, as anyone who's seen The Angry Videogame Nerd rip it apart probably knows. Although I beat it on the same day that I started it (some random luck was involved), I can say with certainty that some people could play it for a year and probably not finish it.

Super Ghouls and Ghosts always comes to mind, probably because it's also a great game. That and Ninja Gaiden (XBox/PS3) are probably the two best examples of games that are difficult without being cheap, and as a result are oh so satisfying to finish.

I've played so many games over the years that there's probably a whole bunch that I just can't think of right now.

The arcade Jurassic Park game. You know, the one where you ride around in the Jeep and there would be two seats? Well, the thing is that the game didn't have a harder difficulty level for two-player mode - so if you played by yourself, you were playing a two-player mode singlehandedly.

That game was fun, but it sure did burn all your quarters. I hated how in some cases, you had to get hit, no matter what.

To be honest, I've never really gotten past the female Tyrannosaurus. I think that there was a Triceratops level after that. Feel free to spoil it for me - I'd like to know what/who the bosses were.

Nice to see another Jurassic Park fan - they rarely have those things in arcades, but they'll have five copies of the same dang 8-bit shooter that's twice as large and probably consumes twice the amount of electricity just sitting there. Arcades suck sometimes. Where's the animal-shooter game love?

Hahaha, to be honest, I played that game at my nearby Chuck-E-Cheese's.

Um....Ok, here's a runthrough of the game

Easy Tyrannosaurus, Veloicraptors in cave, those ostrich like dinosaurs on the field, Triceratops chase, those spitting dinosaurs, Pterodactyl stage, spitting dinosaurs R2, Broncosaurus level, Boss Tyranoosaurus, Velociraptors in caverns, Triceratops R2, Boulder Chase, Building where Velociraptors and other dinosaurs are, then finally 2 Tyrannosaurus Boss.

Phew...I think I died 4 times in total as my best run.

But I digress. I am forgetting which Mega Man it was (not the X Series), I think 7, I am not sure was pretty hard (especially the final boss).

X6 was really hard. One of my hardest. That, and I suck at Metal Gear Solid, so that was really hard. but I'm horrible at it anyway.

Where did you think I played it? Heh.

I hope it's more diverse then it sounds - it sounds like they're using using the same dinosaurs over and over again. The Tyrannosaurs sound fun - I love having to hit the little targets on the snout in order to injure it. I'll try next time we go to a place that has one, and force my little brother to help me out.

Another hard game - hmm, Battle Tower in Diamond and Pearl? I'm going to actually have to design and EV train a three-man team to beat it... so that I can get EV training tools. It's not so much hard as tedious, and it seems like they seem to find ways to kill you as slowly as possible.

i beat the arcade jurassic park game. took me about 20 dollars, but i did it. ninja gaiden is pretty hard but that's just because of the shitty camera. ikaruga is really hard. the only two games i have played that i honestly just couldn't beat were ketsui and mushihimesama futari.

It does have a very hard final boss, I'd agree probably one of the hardest boss in mega man games.

It took me a few times to beat it, even with full supplies of sub tanks.

Although the megaman serie does a great job at having really challenging final bosses most of the time.

R-Type II is up there, and from what I read the SNES version is even harder than the arcade. Alien Soldier for Genesis on hard mode is very tough as well.

Most ATARI games from the early eighties were very very difficult to complete. Although the fact that you couldn't save your progress was probably a factor.

It's as diverse as it gets my friend. The Tyrannosaurus is fun, but unless you have better accuracy than a CompoundEyes Butterfree, you will burn up some quarters.

Anyway, anyone play the 007 games? 007 Mode for games like Goldeneye were pretty hard.
