Water Absorb is way less common than Flash Fire. Also more PP on Scald.
PP-wise, Lava Plume would also work. But yeah, I get what you're saying about the Water Absorb-Flash Fire thing.
Water Absorb is way less common than Flash Fire. Also more PP on Scald.
One thing you could do to beat Kyrem-B is use King's Shield instead of Sludge Bomb.Ok, so I've been reading this thread and there is no electrify lightningrod Mega Gengar. D:
So sinceits the best set of all timeits a pretty good set that can destroy alot of things:
Non-Unaware Tran: +1 252 SpA Spooky Plate Mega Gengar Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Heatran: 247-292 (63.9 - 75.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Unaware Tran: 252 SpA Spooky Plate Mega Gengar Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Unaware Heatran: 166-196 (43 - 50.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Kyogre: +1 252 SpA Spooky Plate Mega Gengar Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Kyogre: 225-265 (55.6 - 65.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Unaware Kyogre: 252 SpA Spooky Plate Mega Gengar Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Kyogre: 150-177 (37.1 - 43.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Giratina:+1 252 SpA Spooky Plate Mega Gengar Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Giratina: 458-540 (90.8 - 107.1%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
Unaware Giratina (Does this even exist?): 252 SpA Spooky Plate Mega Gengar Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Giratina: 306-360 (60.7 - 71.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Rhydon: +1 252 SpA Spooky Plate Mega Gengar Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Eviolite Rhydon in Sand: 201-237 (48.5 - 57.2%) -- 92.6% chance to 2HKO
Unaware Rhydon (because you totally dont run sand stream on it): 252 SpA Spooky Plate Mega Gengar Judgment vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Eviolite Rhydon in Sand: 135-159 (32.6 - 38.4%) -- 98.2% chance to 3HKO
Mega Tyranitar: +1 252 SpA Mega Gengar Aura Sphere vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Mega Tyranitar: 448-528 (110.8 - 130.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Unaware Mega Tyranitar: 252 SpA Mega Gengar Aura Sphere vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Mega Tyranitar: 300-356 (74.2 - 88.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
I decided might as well post it so here is the set:
Gengar-Mega @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Lightningrod
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Judgment
- Aura Sphere/Taunt
- Sludge Bomb
- Electrify
(above is importable).
The main problems with this set are the Refrigerate Kyurem-Bs, and Mewtwo-Mega-Y. The former just ruins Electrify and pretty much destroys you with his all mighty priority Fake-Out and Extreme Speed combo which does anywhere between 96.5% and 114.1%.
Fake Out: 252+ Atk Refrigerate Kyurem-B Fake Out vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Mega Gengar: 105-124 (32.4 - 38.2%) -- 97.4% chance to 3HKO
Extreme Speed: 252+ Atk Refrigerate Kyurem-B Extreme Speed vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Mega Gengar: 208-246 (64.1 - 75.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Mewtwo just straight up 1HKO's with Psycho-Boost: 252 SpA Mega Mewtwo Y Psycho Boost vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Mega Gengar: 510-600 (157.4 - 185.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO. Also Non-Aura Sphere Gengars get walled by Mega Tyranitar.
Electrify Gengar is beaten by anything faster, priority, Prankster status, Mold Breaker, neutral Unaware, opposing Lightning Rod/Motor Drive/Volt Absorb, and Shedinja. LR/MD/VA Yveltal in particular makes Electrify Gengar cry. It's good for the initial surprise, but after that it usually gets taken out.
Though I still say it's better than the horrifically predictable Normalize Gengar.
Try these imposter proof sets:I fucking hate Chansey.
You can poison Shedinja with sludge bomb and your immune to endeavor so...
30% chance, assuming they don't have a Lum + Recycle or Safeguard. Or don't just Baton Pass into Kyu-B or another hard counter. Or if you don't run into one of the variants with something like Shell Smash + Shadow Sneak.
It cannot pass to a Recycle, Smash, or Pass, since there is a chance that you will be running Taunt, like how Tyranitar can be scared of Aura Sphere, it just depends on who you have to deal with first, since they will find out then. But shed can just shadow sneak you to death if you don't get double poison or single depending on the set quick enough.
252 Atk Shedinja Shadow Sneak vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Mega Gengar: 96-114 (29.6 - 35.1%) -- 10.3% chance to 3HKO
Also like PokemonMasterDebater said you can just King Shield in Kyurem's face if you run a set with that too. Accually, you could King Shield in Shed's face and Sludge Bomb on set-ups.
Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd
Bold Nature
- Substitute
- Minimize
- Ingrain
- Baton Pass
Venusaur-Mega (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd
Calm Nature
- Acupressure
- Infestation
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
This is the core of my team. I've been having good success with this combo. I used a Shuckle before just for the lolz, but Mega Venusaur is naturally immune to Spore, Toxic and Leech Seed, which is huge, and also has huge defensive capability. The process will take a while, a good while, but assures a sure victory. Ghosts would be a huge problem, of course, especially Giratina. So be sure to have something to counter them, like:
he has none, but people don't carry it often. That team messed me up real bad.Stuff like that can definitely work, but Electrify Gengar has some serious 4MSS, so you're not going to be able to be ready for everything that reliably checks Gengar with a single set.
Huh, never expected to see someone from Pokememes outside of Pokememes.
Anyway, out of curiosity, what's your exit strategy if someone uses Perish Song after you use Ingrain?
Ingrain prevents you from switching out, and how are they not working correctly, whats the problem.
This is an (overly) elaborate anti-Imposter setup I used:
Kyurem-White @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Refrigerate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Spore
- Boomburst
- Thunderbolt
- Shell Smash
Groudon @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 252 Spd
Calm Nature
- Infestation
- Perish Song
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp / something else useful
Basically, bring in Groudon and the Imposter can't do anything. They probably will try to either Boomburst or Spore, neither of which will work, and you use that turn to trap them with Infestation. Then you Perish Song, and just like that, their Imposter is dead.
Granted, there are some problems with this, like Groudon's issues taking any non-Boomburst special hits, and the general risk-reward nature of Soundproof Perish trapping.
A similar approach could be used by giving Kyu-W Earth Power over Thunderbolt and using a Flying type instead of Groudon. I know KIP did a similar thing with a Soundproof Drifblim with Mail and a Kyu-W with Trick.
While it's not the most reliable strategy, it often works to eliminate Imposters and is really fun to use.
You can go Magic Guard on Venusaur, but you get walled by Magic Bouncers (Especially ones that have recovery). You can only have the one or the other. It's not the perfect way to defeat every strategy in BH, just a sure and sophisticated way to make people Rage Quit.Anyway, out of curiosity, what's your exit strategy if someone uses Perish Song after you use Ingrain?
Don't forget the amazing belly drum ho-oh for imposter proofiness
Ho-oh @ Sitrus Berry
Trait: Unburden
EVs: 252 hp / 252 Atk / 84 Def / 252 Spa / 252 Sdef / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Acrobatics
- Fusion Bolt
- Earthquake
Okay, so the idea behind this set is simple. Belly drum up, and get the unburden boost from eating sitrus. Since chansey still has an item, you're always going to outspeed them - even scarf set. Right now fusion bolt is used to kill the imposter, since it has perfect accuracy, but once diamond storm is implemented, I will run that, due to fusion bolt forcing me to run only 84 def in order to kill the imposter. Earthquake is there for general coverage, but it could easily be swapped out for something like play rough. If you start to run diamond storm, though, keep EQ or else Aegislash will wall you.
