5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Hey, thanks!

One more thing. I am confused by what is meant by "hard reset". In some cases, it seems that people simply meaning turning off the DS and then turning it back on. However, in other cases, people recommend taking out the battery or holding down some combination of buttons upon start up. So, how exactly do I do a hard reset?

Taking the battery out is unnecessary now that the Dream World is dead (which was the only reason to do it before).

can you still RNG for dream world pokemon after wifi shut down in May ? or you need wifi to RNG for dream world pokemon like the legendaries and stuff

I'm trying to figure out this program (version 9.96.5) to capture Cobalion in White 2. I am using the seed: 01DB35F5701111F2 which gives me 30/31/30/31/31/31, which is my intended IV spread.

I was able to hit my seed and I expected a Quiet Cobalion, since that is what the RNG reporter tells me the starting frame will give me. The problem is that I got a Hardy one with the proper IVs instead, which is 7 PIDRNG frames later than the starting frame.

Am I missing something about starting frames? Does the NPC moving around Cobalion change the PIDRNG even though she moves in a set path? Did I screw this up in some other way?

Also, in a different issue, the Adjacent Seed tool is messed up, the IVs it says I will get are shifted two times, the HP IV I actually get is the Defense one it tells me and on down the line. For instance, the regular tool tells me I'll get 30/31/30/31/31/31 while that tool says I'll get 5/7/30/31/30/31

I do believe there are other WNPCs on that route. Spam x as soon as then game loads, then battle cobalion

I have RNG all of the legendaries on my Black 2 game (currently RNGing on White 2), and what I did was have a synchronizer in front. I hit my seed and then saved the game 2 times, sometimes 3. I just used RNG reporter for the IV seeds. Not sure if that helps? The thing is, NPCs do not move the IV frames, but rather the PID frames. When you save a few times, you advance those frames. The reason why I saved the game twice was because then I landed on a frame which didn't have a set nature, but could be synchronized to have a 50% chance :)
I did this for all the legendaries and it took me just one day to get ALL :)
Let us know how it turns out :)

EDIT: also, why would you go for a Quiet nature with 31 speed IVs? :)

Quiet was just the no effort result, I was still in the testing phase trying to figure out how natures work. I wasn't going to keep it obviously.
if you're going for a shiny, you obviously can't do what I did with just saving etc :)
Good luck! You will get it eventually though :) and like the guy before me said; just press A as quickly as possible to find out your shifted starting frame :)

It's actually a WNPC below her that causes the issues. If you hit the frame seven after the starting frame, just subtract seven from the frame you're trying to hit.

So if I wanted Naive, which is at 9 off the starting frame, 2 later than the one I got, could I just save the game twice then? Will the WNPC continue to burn RNs while I save?

Hmm... I guess I'll have to continue the game until I can find Chatot then. Does anyone know where you can see one ingame so I can look on the GTS/Will trade me one?

I'm using the current version of PPRNG to try and get a hex flawless shiny Giratina from last summer's Wonder Card Event in White 2. I've never RNG'd before, so I thought this would be a relatively easy one to start with. I've followed the PPRNG Wonder Card guide to a "T", but have had absolutely zero luck getting the one I need. Here's my process, hopefully someone can help point out where I went wrong:

1) When configuring my Timer0 through the Unova Link, I did it 10 times, and found 4 different values from 10F3 to 10F7. These I used as my max and min for my configuration.
2) In the Seed Searcher, I set the "Card Nature" to Modest, "Card Gender" to Genderless, and "Shiny" to Always. I set my Card TID to "13364", and left the Card SID at "00000", because I don't know it as of yet.
3) With this, I found Seed "8155B017495714CE", occurring on 2014/06/08 at 01:09:27, with a Timer0 of 10F7. The starting frame was 51, and the desired frame was 71.
4) I changed my DS clock to 2014/06/08 at 01:09:00, and pressed A to start the game at 27 seconds on the clock (I'm using a DS Lite). There were no buttons to hold down.
5) Once in the game (in a Pokemon center with no WNPCs, right in front of the delivery man), I saved 20 times (71-51=20), and spoke to the delivery man. I know Chatot is faster, but I don't have access to one, and I figured simply saving 20 times would advance the PID frame the right number of times, even if it were more time consuming.
6) My resulting Giratina was Modest, but had only one 31 IV, the rest were all below 10. I checked the "Adjacents" tab, but could not find the spread that I received anywhere.

Help please?

You either hit the wrong timer0, or you advanced the PIDRNG too much/didn't advance the PIDRNG enough.

Hmm, ok thanks. Is there any reason the spread I ended up with was not found in the "Adjacents" tab? I set it to show all my other timer0 values.

Oh, you didn't hit the right second. Try starting the game at 26 seconds instead (DS Lite has a one second delay).

Tried that, this time I got a Relaxed one...not quite sure what's going on. I'm not seeing any nature other than Modest in the Frames or Adjacents tab, shouldn't I only be getting Modest ones, even if their IVs aren't perfect?

You should also listen to the Chatot pitches and see if they match. It will save you some time. Get a Chatot for fuck's sake. And keep at it, unless you're doing something wrong in the process. Didn't you say you don't like RNG abuse? What happened now...

EDIT: I don't know if this really matters for Wondercard abuse but you should at least try to find your SID using Pokecheck. Either that, or with an AR.
