Yea ik but something doesn't have to stop getting bugfixed/improved after it's out of beta

The thing is that PS is an on going project that is constantly changing and evolving. Also as new pokemon come out and new generation mechanics are introduced its so much easier to remain in beta and execute these additions/changes than to release PS then require these changes to be installed.

One of the major selling points for PS in the beginning was that it wasn't like PO you didn't have to download patches and updates. It was all in the browser.

I would like to contribute to the anylisis of the metagame, i can ladder and i have all the basic(and some advanced) knowledge of it that i need to contribute.Where do i go?

Ok, I hate to sound stupid for not knowing this, but why is Showdown failing to connect to the servers for me? Or is it a scheduled site maintenance I didn't know about?

It is just down, it should be up soon. There was a lot of lagg before and was most likely going to lead towards it going down. We are not sure when it will be up exactly however

We have been having problems with the server since the restart about an hour ago, rest assured the admins and staff are working hard to fix it

Is it possible to see the current server maintenance. (If the server is down or up)
It might be useful to create a thread with details (if we have them) on why the server is down. With increased traffic during the summer months, this might be a good thing to have. For situations such as right now, communication to you guys would be nice, but truthfully we haven't been fed a lot of information ourselves! I'd just regularly check to see if the server's back up.

An admin or another member of staff will probably post something or other when the server gets back up, but a permanent thread or live broadcast of the server's condition would be beneficial

The source code is available to host a server, but modifications must be done client on the client side (not open sourced). I see some pet mods have modified clients (adding in diancie/mega latias/new moves etc.) so is there somewhere to I can easily get a copy of the PS client to try my hand at a pet mod? Or can you only get one by buying off/putting out for the high admins?

You don't need to pay anyone lol. All you have to do is go to Zarel's GitHub and all the code is there for you to tinker with to your heart's content

What's all this about pet Mod's? Mods earn their position and have the ability to edit things like the GitHub because they have proven themselves. Also, this myth about Zarel or whatever paying the staff makes me lol. It's a Pokemon website in which essentially anyone can join, Moderators do their job voluntarily and if they feel they don't want to do it anymore, they can resign. No paying is involved.
Pet mods as in modifications. Fuji Labs is an example.

The idea was brought up during Landorus' ban in Generation 5, but will PokeBall animations/indicators be added to Showdown at any point? It's mainly a legality issue, corresponding mainly to event-given Pokemon, or Dream Radar Pokemon like Sheer Force/Defiant Landorus/Thundurus respectively, and Multiscale/Regenerator Lugia/Ho-oh respectively. It was said that these were in queue to be added to Showdown, but not a priority. Is this still in queue?

Things are never really removed from the to do list. It's just a long list.

I brought up the balls recently and there was some work on in the past month or two. I have actually done all I could do on my end to assist on it.

Could there be more effort made to expand the attack animation variety? A few look the same as any others but some are just white balls flying for something like Poison Fang.

Most of the commonly used moves have unique animations. Animations for lesser used moves are probably low priority as very few people will use or care about how the animation for poison fang is.

Is custom battle basically any pokemon with any stats and any moves and level 1000?
Custom games have pretty much no restrictions whatsoever, so you can use any pokemon in any form (including cap, mega, etc), you can have whatever evs you want, with up to something like 24 moves per pokemon (whatever moves you want of course, including cap/unreleased moves). And yes, you can use pokemon up to level 1000.
