Despite CL's best efforts of campaigning, he has lost. The winner is Hot N Cold and his Vivillion.

ojos asi (Vivillon) @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sleep Powder
- Hurricane
- Quiver Dance
- Substitute

We will be building around this Pokemon. Stage 2 will begin now. You may begin nominating Pokemon which support this Vivillion (please post the sets as well). Please explain you're reasoning once again. Also, you may discuss which nominated sets you think are worthy / unworthy instead of nominating if you wish. GO!

I would nominate Kabutops, seeing how it's 4X grass weakness is covered by Vivillon and it can also provide Rapid Spin support due to vivillon's weakness to stealth rock.It and Vivillon also have nice type synergy together, therefore creating a good offensive core.A good set would be this offensive set:
Kabutops@Life Orb
-Rapid spin
-Aqua Jet
-Rock Slide/Stone Edge
-Waterfall/Aqua Tail

Not to be overly cautious about this, but I'd rather forgo immediately addressing the necessity of hazard removal, and instead focus on offensive synergy for a bit; the final BW2 RU CCAT ending up decidedly subpar due to the fact that users were far too quick to respond to potential holes in the team with a defensive mindset, which is never fun. Hazard removal will be included, this is obvious for a team built to support Vivillion, but I'd say it would be best for us as a community to get a solid grasp for the type of build we are looking at before jumping into how exactly we will go about providing such support.

That being said, I'll offer my mediocre nom:

655.png

Delphox @ Choice Specs | Blaze
Timid | 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe | 0 Atk
Fire Blast | Psyshock | Grass Knot | Overheat / Switcheroo

Specs Delphox offers a breaker capable of supporting Vivillion rather handily. Between the two of them, there is a reasonable overlap in basic checks and counters, which this set can capitalize upon nicely; its high damage output allows it to accrue significant chip damage on Pokemon such as SpDef Rhyperior, SpDef Normal-types, and bulky Waters, as well as providing a 'mon capable of applying immediate pressure to significant Steel-types. This is also capable of decently switching into and wearing down most Fire-types, albeit in the short term, which is all Vivillion really needs under most circumstances.

This pick, needless to say, lends itself significantly to a more offensive build, potentially Spike Stacking (which both these Pokemon thrive on), and puts a larger strain on hazard removal of some nature. I feel as though this is the best course of action when utilizing a Pokemon such as Vivillion, as the strain it puts on partners to support it, albeit mostly in regards to hazard removal, makes it far too inconsistently useful to be particularly valuable to more balanced team structures, though others may well disagree. Not really worth delving too far into hypotheticals at this points really, so meh.

Now, as opposed to offering something just to spin, or something just to punch holes....

Hitmonlee (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- Stone Edge / Mach Punch

Hitmonlee is pretty much the definition of offensive Hazard Removal. Hitmonlee can force out about 85% of the tier with this set, allowing for relatively easy hazard removal. Plus, a lot of people still predict the Fake Out + Normal Gem set, so even more opportunities to clear the field can be made by hitting predicted ghosts with a huge knock off. In terms of the moveset, Reckless LO allows HJK to hit pretty much the entire tier extremely hard, with Knock off covering the all too common Psychics that would otherwise cause issue, and Stone Miss Edge to hit birds, or mach punch for priority

hi fren i just thought i should tell you that eq is stupid as fuck and p much just repeated coverage so tbh may as well jus slash machpunch instead lol. jus a lil nitpick but w.e :]

Magneton @ Eviolite
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 100 Spd / 252 SAtk / 156 HP
Modest Nature
- Magnet Rise
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

This set is pretty damn awesome. It gets rid of steel types like Durant and Steelix and Magnet Rise is a big fuck you to mons that wield ground moves like rhyperior and steelix. Still pretty damn bulky, powerful and can pivot with Volt Switch. Also doesnt give a fuck about esca >:D

Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature

- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Memento

What does notbutterfree hate? Rock types, Electric types, and Steel types? What does buggy love? memento for easy setup and gone gone gone annoying resistance types. Duggy just so happens to remove those annoying little shiky/rocky/steely buggers with ease, its also a nifty way to pick off random AV users. While this little phalic mound of fantastic may fail to remove Eelectros and Bronzong those can be accounted for later on and you know, trapping gud?

On a side note

You should definitely use sash over band, it'll let you get a kill AND memento, as opposed to one of the other

Xatu @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Heat Wave
- Grass Knot
- Roost

This Xatu set might look a bit weird to some of you, but i know for a fact that it was used a little in BW2 UU and wasn't too bad. Either way, Xatu's Magic Bounce ability discourages the opponent from setting up entry hazards, it can't really switch into most of them with impunity due to its typing and poor bulk, but the fact that Xatu exists on the opposing team alone is often enough to make people think twice about setting up entry hazards straight away.

However, this Xatu set plays another role for this team: weakening/luring Vivi's checks and counters. The fact that Vivi relies on Flying-type coverage means that certain common Pokemon including Rhyperior, Registeel, Bronzong, and Escavalier (the latter doesn't resist flying-type moves but is still a problem because it avoids the 2HKO from +0 Hurricane and is immune to Sleep Powder), will be obvious problems to start out. Out of these, Rhyperior will often switch into Xatu due to the fact that the support set can't really touch it, but takes quite a number from Grass Knot instead. Escavalier might be a bit more wary cause Heat Wave is definitely a thing, but people will still tend to switch it in and try and Megahorn/Knock Off Xatu, only to be greeted by a Life Orb Heat Wave. Don't even bring up Registeel, because it simply can't touch Xatu at all without something dumb like Shadow Claw: Iron Head pathetically can't even guarentee a 3HKO on 0/0 Xatu, while Heat Wave whittles down Registeel in return, essentially completely walling it. Bronzong can be annoying because of the 150 BP Gyro Ball, but if Xatu gets in on literally anything except that move it'll be able to take one Gyro Ball before going down and can 2HKO Bronzong with Heat Wave. Overall a pretty solid lure imo that can either lure in and KO or check at least 3 annoyances to Vivi, while at least discouraging people from trying to set up Stealth Rock right away.

(no h8 plz)

I really like this suggestion but the problem is that its weakness to Stealth Rock also means that it may also need Rapid Spin support to function at its fullest.

Being serious
cobalion.gif

Cobalion @ Lum Berry / Life Orb / Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Magnet Rise

Magnet Rise Cobalion is an amazing partner for Vivillion. It can easily set up on most pokemons able to stop our butterfly's sweep like Rhyperior and Escavalier and then run through the opponent's team. It really appreciates physical walls weakened by Vivillion and it's typing is also useful defensively as it can easily take any obvious rock move aimed at Vivillion.

Band lets duggy do things like actually ohkoing cobalion 2 hit Koing rhyperior etc. Sash is weak as fuck and since duggy is best used midgame via volturn in conjuntion with redundant check/counter mons, plus rocks and spikes can happen making sash duggy a limp phalus.

No suggestion here but is the Vivillon going to use Roost or Substitute? I know this is a silly question, but none of the other CCATs ever had slashes in their movesets, and more importantly, a Vivillon with Roost needs Rapid Spin support a lot less than a Substitute variant.

Vivillion will be using Substitute > Roost

Emboar @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 32 HP / 152 Atk / 4 Def / 148 SAtk / 172 Spd
Rash Nature
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot
- Superpower
- Sucker Punch

This excellent Emboar set serves as a mixed wallbreaker, and can also damage offensive teams with a very powerful Sucker Punch. Its main function for the team would likely be supporting Vivillon by defeating almost every common Steel-type, and also luring in and beating faster threats like Delphox.

Calculation Corner: (in order of place on Viability Rankings)

148+ SpA Life Orb Emboar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Escavalier: 499-593 (145 - 172.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

148+ SpA Life Orb Emboar Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 441-523 (101.6 - 120.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

152 Atk Life Orb Emboar Sucker Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Delphox: 265-315 (90.7 - 107.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes

148+ SpA Life Orb Emboar Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Cobalion: 515-608 (158.9 - 187.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

148+ SpA Life Orb Emboar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 257-304 (76 - 89.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

etc.

Vivillon really loves spikes support, all of its checks/counters such as rhyperior/lanturn/heliolisk (before boosts) ect. All have no form of recovery, and none levitate so all are affected by spikes. Vivillon can come in, force a switch to a counter, they come in and loose health to however many layers of spikes, hit them with an unboosted hurricane and slowly chip away their health. Viviloon can do this untill the opponent is too weak to stand up to a +1 stab sharp beak hurricane and then procede to sweep. It also helps against very bulky mons such as slowking to give more residual damage.

This is why froslass would a great partner for vivillon because it is the best spiker in the tier, and can also take a poke down with it.

The moveset would be something like:

Froslass @ Focus Sash
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Destiny Bond
- Ice beam
Froslass is a good choice for any offensive team but we don't know if it is going to remain in RU for long so i don't really know about this nomination.
