5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Actually I'm using the IV method with Regice, I made sure my MAC adress was the right one (I already did that when I rng'd on Black :p). I don't hold any button and made sure the time was the right one.

My issue is that when I click on "Search" RNG Reporter crash :v (I'm using french white 2) and I can't seem to get my parameters... :v

Oh, ok. iirc, your game is supported. Are you getting an error when it crashes? You can try reinstalling the Reporter to see if that fixes it.

It tells me that RNG reporter crashed and windows is trying to find a solution for this problem. Maybe it's because I'm on a 3DS ? Or maybe there is a newer version ? I use the 9.96.5 Beta :v

It has nothing to do with your 3ds. It's RNG Reporter's problem.
Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it, maybe also restart your computer :)

Well, what do you mean by installing it/reinstalling it :o ? I never installed it since I usually just double click on it to start it :o
Seems like it's an issue with 9.96.5. Does the same thing to me. Let me try to find that link to the next alpha.

Edit: here you go http://bit.ly/18dL3gx

Note that I got that from a post by slashmolder in this thread :P. It's still alpha so there may be some bugs, but it didn't crash. Try setting the max timer0 range to 1900 as well, just in case.

Edit2: oh, and we meant try re-downloading it, but this should work...
Thanks for helping out too Elena90

I guess I need help because I feel like a total retard. How do you determine which chatot pitch it is? They sound the same to, no matter what custom cry I makes. Annoys the hell of me, especially when people say "use Chatot pitches to confirm your frame"

.-.

The custom cry is recommended to be high, making it easy to determine

By screeching into your DS mic like a banshee, using a xxx MHz beep (tons are availabe on youtube and you can just hold your DS up to the speaker or something) or perhaps you simply can't tell the difference by hearing pitch (which is pretty common) you can always just stick to counting them though.

Thanks for the help, I can hear the differences now. Yet it's not really helping me thus far on hitting the frame I'm trying to hit. (I guess I'm just one of those that can't tell the difference by hearing pitch) The moment I think I'm in the right frame, the next Chatot cry just throws me off.

I tried counting the frames, yet I'm still having massive difficulty hitting the frame I want. IDK how much this will help you guys (to help me) but the seed I'm hitting is 56E14F17AF386C7E (no problems here) and I'm trying to hit Frame 71 (the problem). Got every other frame around it but that one. Also, my starting frame changes too much, I've caught a couple of Pokemon on the route to see what my staring frame is (due to wandering NPCs) and found out it changes to frames like 56, 58, 60, 62, 68. Those are the frames I've started on. Can NPC really change the starting frame that much? .__.

I believe so, there are probably a lot of wandering npcs on the area where you're attempting to RNG. Not much else to say but keep trying, and open the menu (DS button Y) immediately each time you hit your seed. I also assume you've tried determining your SSF (Shifted starting frame) which is one chatter upon hitting the seed. So you weren't able to get a frame that you're hitting consistently, like for example on an average you get more 56 than 58s and the rest?

Yea, just kept trying again and again until I finally found that sucker. Initial frame of the seed was 42 while I just guessed the starting frame of 64 (>__>) and advanced it 7 times to get frame 71. Also by Shifted starting frame, you mean opening up the menu immediately and then use one chatter and then sweet scent to see the nature/encounter slot/gender/characteristic of the Pokemon? I haven't tried it that way, I just immediately open the menu then sweet scent. >_<

Also Thanks for helping out this noob, everyone. I just know I'm going to have massive trouble with Tornadus. .---.

Yes, during the early days of RNG'ing I was recommended to use SSF when I read several guides.
np, good luck, I just finished getting a Thundurus (2nd roamer RNG) so I know the feeling. :/

One of the RNG guides I read said to leave the soft reset box unchecked when finding DS parameters. I always soft reset my game when trying to RNG though. Should I still leave it unchecked?

You shouldn't be soft resetting. You need to hard-reset.

A few of the buttons on my DSi are 'soft', as in 'they don't always respond when I press them'. In terms of the RNG, do soft buttons count as buttons that are held down when loading a game?

Basically any button can be used when loading a game -depending on what keypresses are required for a particular seed that is. However if certain buttons don't respond then I would edit the program to ignore those buttons. It makes RNGing so much easier (for instance my L/R keys don't work so I have my profile set to ignore those keys).

Okay so I've learned that the 3DS (or at least the XL version) has a one second delay when setting the time. Thought I should pass that along.

Now my question is this: are standard wild Pokemon better for using to find parameters in Black 2, or will stationary Legendaries (like Heatran, which I'm currently using) work just as well?

Either are fine. The higher the level the better though so you can narrow down on the IV's easier. Just don't use Wondercards to find your parameters.

I'm not sure is this is even worthy of a post but I was trying to RNG a Hasty 31-31-31-31-31-31 Victini

Got this seed: 3105B0A7DDFCA37A and trying to hit Frame 72, so I did that and got my Hasty 31-31-31-31-31-31 Victini. But according to PPRNG the characteristic was suppose to be "Capable of taking hits" but I got "Mischievous", I just assume that's an error on the program. Or did I do something wrong? (yet got my desired result... <__<)

The characteristics are off sometimes. It wasn't anything you did wrong (assuming you have your id's entered correctly) :)

Hmm I was under the impression that it was 1 second for the DS and 8 seconds for the 3DS.
