SPOILERS! Wonder Trades

Wonder Trade is such a good way of figuring out which pokemon are popular in the market right now. So many Charmander, Eevee, Froakie, Ferroseed, Honedge, and Fletchlings.

I've gotten quite a few decent mon with egg moves that would've taken me a while to breed on, or mons that I never would've considered breeding because I just don't have the parents, so I'm less bitter about the crap mon that I get the other 90% of the time. My faith used to die a little every time I get another Flabebe or Dunsparce or monkeys. Now I just try to convince myself that some eager kid is raising a breeding spitback that I never would've raised myself. And I release the crap I get in return and free up my boxes. I also don't blame the little kids for trading away early routes stuff. Before you get to breeding, it's actually hard to come up with decent mons to wonder trade unless you want to trade away your Kalos or Kanto starter.

I do wish that there is a more efficient system that would allow breeders to unload spitbacks more efficiently. Like a one-sided GTS. I wouldn't mind at all if I could just deposit my spitbacks with egg moves somewhere, without asking for anything in return, just to free up box space and make someone else's day.

Wow, just received a Miltank in a Dream Ball with four egg moves; Curse, Hammer Arm, Seismic Toss, and Natural Gift. Sap Sipper. Five IVs. And it's Japanese. From Wonder Trade.

Funny part? I didn't received this Miltank from a Japanese trader, but from an American trader named Ash in Illinois, USA. I'm guessing Ash just looked at this Pokemon they got and was like "well, this isn't Dialga, it sucks lol" and traded it to me for one of my five IVs Scatterbug spitbacks (that he no doubt is going to put back in the Wonder Trade).

EDIT: My bad, I forgot all Miltank was female.

I...don't think you need to mention it's female, considering Miltank is always female... But wow, that is awesome! ...Kinda wish my luck were like that... Then again, it's not like I've gotten only crap, the near 15 foot sea leviathan sitting in my PC on X would disagree with that notion a little. Among other things.

I just got a flawless Japanese 5IV Timid Protean Froakie in a Dive Ball. And a flawless 5IV Modest Gooey Goomy in a Heal Ball. Both with egg moves. Smokescreen, Round, Fling, and Smack Down on the Froakie; Curse, Iron Tail, Acid Armor, and Counter on Goomy. Granted the egg moves aren't all that special, but I reckon I'll hopefully make someone's day with the Froakie. (I already have a perfect Greninja I nicknamed Ninjor)

Wow, I got this same thing last night. Ty Blucario whoever you are.

They might bring that move tutor back in Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby, so not all hope is lost. :)
God I hope so. The move is fun as hell to use on Protector. (my Hydreigon, Gates to Infinity ref) It would also potentially give something to do for all the shards since the weather TMs will be permanent.

Been sending out Jolly Swinub with Stealth Rock and Icicle Crash, a few of which have Thick Fat. The next batch ought to be really good as the mother has 4IV's (missing Sp. Def) while the father is Goku. (my 5IV Infernape)

Well I got that 5IV Swinub...but it has Oblivious. At least it's male to speed up the breeding process. On topic... I got Oshawott! And it's female! And it has 2 IV's! And I got a Pichu...with Volt Tackle. Hell, even if I go special with Raichu I'm gonna breed this for options sake. It grows friendly amazingly fast when biking around in circles for WT fodder to hatch.

Well, this is probably better than the Miltank and some of the other Pokemon I received from Wonder Trade. I just received a female HP Ice Electrike with three egg moves; Electro Ball, Switcheroo, and Uproar. Even has the right ability and it was hatched two days ago with a trainer named "Aaron" and the Electrike is in a Quick Ball. The IVs are (I used Metakid's calc and the Battle Institute) 31/12/30/31/31/31.

Wow. I just got a shiny Uxie off wonder trade! It's from Unova and only has perfect Sp. Attack, so it's either a horrible hack or a failed RNG attempt. Either way, it made my day! I've been wonder trading 2 boxes worth of Ferroseeds with Stealth Rock, Leech Seed, and Spikes, so it might be good karma :)

The Froakies are getting ridiculous. To the point where I am the owner of a 6IV (w/o HA) male and a flawless 5IV female Protean one, both JPN. The female isn't in a neat Pokeball nor has egg moves, but I'm not one of those anal collectors and she's just perfect for both competitive battle and breeding. The male doesn't have HA but I like to avoid using Ditto as much as possible and Water 1 has several competitively useful Pokemon to breed (Dratini, Marill, Slowpoke, Wooper, Politoed, etc) so it's one of my most used parents now.

So, I literally got the exceptional Froakies one would possible want - now stop sending them. Please. I wish there was a blacklist function where you can only pick one Pokemon to blacklist on Wonder Trade, but that might increase queue times and be abused.

My WT fodder is currently 4iv Larvesta w/ the egg move morning sun and modest nature(and until I get a shiny, that's what it's going to be; I keep the 5iv ones for other trades). Some of the things I've gotten from wonder trade:

Heatran
5iv adamant gible with egg moves
4iv Ralts with shadow sneak
Many many froakie
Charmander with 4 egg moves

But I got one that is quite possibly worse than all the rest, and at first it might confuse you.

It's a Japanese Chansey. Level 1, with the egg moves seismic toss and defense curl.

And a naughty nature.
(+attack, -special defense)
Facepalm.

(Sometimes, when I'm just starting to breed something new and I haven't got one with the correct nature to start with, I'll breed for egg moves without an everstone to see if one pops up with a good nature that I can then breed with, to essentially "skip" the nature breeding step).

Anywhoo, I'm about to dump a bunch of turtwig with superpower and seed bomb (and...yeah, some of them are random-natured).

Cool. Been breeding Timid Litleo with 3 or 4IV's. All of them so far have Unnerve. (man I wish Pyroar had better abilities...Rivalry is a gamble even in-game and Moxie is useless on a special attacker. Unnerve sucks the least out of them)

I received a Heracross with Moxie today. Might try and do something with it.

I doubt it was on purpose, I got a similar Japanese Chansey, but with a Hasty nature and two IVs. Maybe people in Japan are trying to cram as much IVs into Chansey eggs with a power item and Destiny Knot before they use Everstone?

Oh yeah, I also got a shiny Talonflame in Wonder Trade that is useless for battles, but since it has Flame Body I'm using this one over my non-shiny one lol.

Another Charmander. And Torchic. Charmander though has Crunch, Dragon Rush, and Flare Blitz, but is Timid. Torchic has Feint...and Baton Pass. And Speed Boost, not that it matters as my female Combusken has Speed Boost. Charmander will be sent back out, but I'll hang on to Torchic in case I'm crazy enough to want to breed for another Blaziken but with Baton Pass. (probably won't, I'm happy with my Blaze one with 31/31/31/x/30/31 and holding Blazikenite to grant Speed Boost when it goes Mega)

I send out more Litleo, and with one of them I receive a 5IV Klink. It's Brave, and I'm not yet certain of its speed, but I do have a Ditto with Speed and Attack so I may try something with it... Shame Klingklang is so awkward to use.

I also get a 31/31/31/31/31/0 Deino, which I sent back out, and a wild Azuril. What I get traded for that is a 6IV Anticipation Eevee. It's male and Quirky, but has Yawn, Curse, Wish, and Stored Power. I'm guessing Infinity, the OT, was aiming for either Vaporeon or Espeon but didn't have the desired nature on either parent. I'm partly dreading having to breed for a female with Anticipation, it's likely going to take awhile...

And it's not all bad, shiny flame body talonflame is prettier to look at while you're busy grinding and hatching loads of eggs!

Best Wonder Trade Pokemon I ever got: 5IV (-Attack) Modest Haunter!! Which evolved into Gengar!! 5IV anything is great, but Haunter means no need to find a trade partner to evolve it! Amazingly convenient.

Strangest Wonder Trade Pokemon I ever got: I don't recall the other person's name, but her profile message was "6IVShinyForYou!" True to her word, through the internet comes a 6IV shiny Tauros!! With Protect as its only move. And a Timid nature. Either she was being very generous (and slightly unlucky), or she was being a troll and a hacker. (The Tauros was not Kalos-born, so I have my suspicions....)

I've been trading away my breeding spitbacks like everyone else, and I have to say it feels a lot more satisfying to give away popular or slightly uncommon Pokes like Growlithe, Aura Sphere/Dragon Pulse Squirtle, and Bouffalant compared to the more common stuff like Froakie or easily-catchable Pokes like Scraggy and Mr. Mime. (Even though I always mark their IVs before trading, it's quite probable that the 3-4IV Pokes from the latter group will get overlooked by their recipients....)

Wonder Trade's been amazing for getting Hidden Abilities, yet I still lack Gale Wings Talonflame (despite getting a 4IV Fletchling spitback), and among all the half-dozen or so Eevees that found their way into my boxes (many of which were obviously bred for IVs) not a single one had Anticipation. A nice trip to the GTS fixed the latter problem, however. (Hint: Search using the Level 21-30 filter. I did this and the first Eevee I traded for had Anticipation.)

Huh. Usually I don't think to look on the GTS because of the ridiculous number of people asking various legendary Pokemon for even stuff that really wouldn't be worth it. Why would anyone trade Genesect for Modern pattern Vivillon? That's like one of the more common patterns. I can maybe understand the Poke Ball pattern, but...

I think my next project will be Togepi. I haven't one or a Ditto with Calm nature, and Limebat is Jolly. And wouldn't you know it, 87.5% male. And any better partners need a trip around Prism Tower to evolve before I can use them. At least I'm not trying for one with Super Luck...

The best way to use the GTS is deposit something so you can be the one making demands. Although even if you ask for something like an Eevee for your wicked bold, 4 egg move Chansey in a love ball, there's no guarantee it will have anticipation lol. But it usually works out well. I've been using the GTS to get trade evolutions for my pokedex. I did have to trade a few Rhydon holding Protectors before I got one (also holding a Protector) in return..

While I wait for the trades to go through I've been sending out Noibat and Ferroseed spitbacks as that's really all I have left in bulk. Haven't gotten anything of note back yet though, but that's probably just me being picky. WT was so useful in the early days but now it's mostly just a good way to get pokemiles..

Don't get me wrong, I have had a little success with using the GTS. I've gotten Alakazam, Slurpuff, Accelgor, and Escavalier off of there as well as Turtwig. All but Slurpuff by putting something up on the GTS and asking for something fair, like Shelmet and Karrablast for each other so they evolve. Slurpuff I traded a random Chandelure I had lying around, though I'll need to do that Secret Super Training session with the Aegislash Balloon to get another Dusk Stone...or play one of those mini-games on PGL.

Was going to be doing Togepi, but then I found I had a male in the Flying egg group with a Calm nature...a 0IV Pelliper. So I've been breeding Wingull up to the task. And now I'm unsure if I want to go Modest instead since I'll probably put Dazzling Gleam on it.

Anyway, during one batch I receive a 3IV female Adamant Japanese Dratini with Marvel Scale. Even nicer? It has Extreme Speed. And none of the IV's fall in to Sp. Atk which would go unused anyway. The rest of the stuff...not nearly so interesting.

Wow! I just got my first wonder trade shiny: a bright green Japanese Zubat, level 11. Looks like it was a wild capture from the Connecting Cave. I even sent something decent (but not super great) back in return: a level 1 5IV spitback adamant dratini with marvel scale (HA) and 3 egg moves, including dragon dance and extreme speed. Though, it was male, so it would never pass down its boss dream ball.
