Defensive SR is by far the most "common" and "standard" set, but do not forget others such as Offensive Stealth Rock, SubToxic, Assault Vest, and Rain Dance. Below is Defensive SR.

Since Alomomola got banned from NU and Knock Off also got a huge buff this gen I find really hard to counter this pokemon, however it's still relatively easy to check with Fletchinder priority Acrobatics or a faster scarfer.
It's difficult to switch in when this pokemon is on the field because it can easily predict a switch into a ghost/psychic type and go for knock off, not only dealing a lot damage but crippling your defensive capabilities.

Defensive Granbull does a pretty good job, but needs Wish support to continually counter it. Spiritomb can also do a decent job but it needs 252 HP / 240 Def with Leftovers to guarantee it doesn't get 2HKO'd by CB EQ after Stealth Rock. (If you opt for a +Def nature though you only need 252 HP / 128 Def with Lefties)

The thing that's really annoying is would-be counters like Weezing aren't actually counters because of Mold Breaker EQ. :/

Physically defensive Vileplume also does a good job and only fears a 2hko from Ice Punch variants. Pelipper only fears Stone Edge and has reliable recovery in roost to keep himself healthy and repeatedly check it but those are shaky at best

Granbull can also tank anything Sawk has to offer due to intimidate and solid typing.

However like LightningLuxray mentioned above once it gets its lefties knocked off it has no reliable forms of recovery. One of the best things about granbull though, imo, is that it gets access to twave and can paralyze on the switch. It also gets very good coverage with Earthquake and Playrough. And then to top it all off it gets Heal Bell. The set I've been using (with wish support)

This gives enough bulk and enough attack to where it can tank hits but still allows it to hit back hard.
 
248 Health Fletchinder is a nice sawk check for offensive teams if you can keep rocks off the field, it can come in on anything but stone edge from full and revenge with an acrobatics.

CC can do up to ~90% tho so you have to keep it super healthy.
 
Montsegur I'm curious about your Granbull EV spread, do the EVs allow it to KO something in particular? I'm currently running a physically defensive Granbull with 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Atk and Impish. Hits a lefties number, and the slight attack investment guarantees the Play Rough OHKO on Sawk.

Not that I know of, I was running that much so when I hit something it would hit it decently hard with playrough and then they can only switch in so many times. I never calced anything that needed to be OHKOd, and as far as i can tell some of the biggest threats in magneton get OHKOd by EQ on the switch, regardless of how much you have in attack. Pretty much my line of thinking was they are going to be switching out multiple times into something to check/counter Granbull. So a little bit more damage will limit the amount of switchins they can have. Granbull already has decent bulk and with the intimidate it makes up for not having a +nature in defense and taking those 68 evs out of defense. Now I suppose you could go a little bit more in depth and look at a bunch of calcs, but tbh at the time i was sort of just guesstimating, but it seemed to work out pretty well for me and so I didnt fiddle around with the EVs.
 
Since stuff like Venomoth and the weather setters (Politoed, Ninetails) are NU by usage but banned from UU, when Koko retests them do we get them as well, or do we wait on official results?

Politoed and Ninetails are both NU without their respective weather setting abilities. Drought and Drizzle are probably never going to be NU because the sun and rain teams would run rampant. As far as Venomoth goes if Koko retests it and unbans it, I imagine it will have to fall by usage again back to NU. I dont think it will just straight drop, and i dont see it falling all the way to NU again either.

When Koko retests anything, it's only considered part of UU, ie it doesn't drop down and isn't usable in RU/NU. Basically just confirming that. To be honest though, I'm unfortunately unsure about your point that Venomoth won't drop to NU again. Venomoth is an amazing pokemon and definintely should never be in NU, or RU either. But the playerbase, for whatever reason, doesn't use it -- every single generation -- so it just ends up getting banned instead.
 
Maybe Spiritomb. Too lazy to do calcs, but it seems like it would do the best. Immune to Return, Quick Attack, Close Combat, neutral to Knock Off. Sounds good.

Defensive spiritomb is a good stop if Zangoose isnt carrying Swords Dance, if it is tomb is going to take a heavy hit from Zangoose.

1. I couldn't find a good source that told me the tier changes for NU, is there hub or a place that tells you what has changed? Or just the main forum thread?

2. Why have Magneton and Fletchinder risen to RU? I understand it's based off of usage, however neither Magneton or Fletchinder seemed at a high enough usage to rise to RU.
