Cheers guys,

here is my simple question: Jirachi with Serene Grace uses trick room, will the trick room last for 10 turns?

Serene Grace has no effect on weather moves, or anything else other than secondary chances for moves such as Iron Head/Air Slash.

Absolutes like Gravity and Trick room will always last for 5 turns, no matter what.

To affirm the above posts, Serene Grace doubles moves with a secondary effect chance. Chance is something like 10% para/flinch chance.

hey
haven´t played pokemon competitvely for a while. so i wanted to know if drizzle+swift swim is still banned in x and y ou ?

No, due to rain no longer being permanent, the ban on drizzle+Swift swim was dropped. Rain is a a very competitive style this gen due to the allowance here. It's roughly similar to the reason Excadrill got dropped out of ubers even with sandrush. Kabutops+Kingdra+MScizor/AgilityAmph+Politoed cores may be uncommon but are very effective this gen.

ah cool. so i can finally make a rain team with drizzle and swift swim.
i really love the weather mechanic in the pokemon games. its not the best but a very cool play style in my opinion.
so that weather duration got nerfd has it ups and downs.

You can always just be honest when you trade mons here. Many people do not actually care whether the pokemon is hacked, only whether it is legal.
preeeeetty sure that people care wether something is legit or not.
I mean, I don't mind if people hack something, it's just that the Smogon Wi-Fi rules state that trading hacked Pokemon (including things like PokeGen) is strictly prohibited. Which is why you never see me offering legendaries. Because I KNOW they're genned. Unless you mean something else entirely,

He said that people care. He also said that other people only mind if it's legal. Others only care if it's an actual mechanical gamechange and not simply aesthetic [like an illegal ball]. It depends on your viewpoint on the subject.
Just to remind you that things like Garchomp, Excadrill, and Landorus were banned in gen 5.
Actually, Garchomp was unbanned in fifth gen. Others are still banned, though, you're right for those - take note that it's only Landorus-I and not Landorus-T that is banned.

Who do you think its better in a rain team? Jolteon or mega electrike :3
Thundurus, but if you're sticking to those two, always go with Mega Manectric. It's faster, stronger, and has better coverage.

And I have a question regarding Mega Manectric as well. If you theoretically use electroball on the turn it mega evolves, does it calc using regular Manectric's speed or the Mega's? I assume the mega, but want to make sure.

Normal, since the speed doesn't change until the turn after you mega.
(Which is why I sometimes don't mega my Amphy immedaitly unless I can get a Agility off. Of if there's a Fairy or Drsgon type in XD)
Also, Thunderbolt > Electro Ball

Really? I thought that the reason speed is funky on megas is that turn order is determined at the beginning of a turn before a poke mega evolves. I suppose the better question is; do damage calcs occur at the same time as speed calcs, or when the move is committed?

And I know tbolt is better 99% of the time, but I think I found the 1% and I'm also curious

Correction, turn order doesn't change until the following turn. If you Trace Prankster on Gardevoir then mega and use something like Taunt, you'll still have priority on Taunt despite the ability changing to Pixilate.

Speed stats would still change, so I'm inclined to believe Electro Ball on M-Manectric would use the mega's speed post-evo despite no change on turn order.

Need a Special Swepper. My team is: Galvantula, Sableye, Vaporeon, Scrafty and Ambipom. Can you help me?
There are a lot of potential special sweepers you can use, but it's hard to pin down the best one with just a list of Mons. Are there any particular Mons that you foresee your team struggling to take down?

Ohhh
Muh bad
Seriously thought Speed didn't change first turn. Derp.
Muh bad Kairyu_Gen1 ! Turns out its the Megas speed, not the other way round. Can't real@5 answer the second question though XD

Really? Garchomp was unbanned in gen5? Shows how much I remember. And yeah, it was only the Incarnate forme that was banned, thanks.

Yes, Smogon strictly prohibits trading hacked mons via the public forums, and you should always adhere to the rules of the forum if you want to use it for trading.

That being said, the reality is that a lot of people just don't care whether a mon is legit, only that it is legal. I would never trade hacked mons on the Wi-Fi forums, and I never have. But I definitely have traded with someone on the forum, and then arranged other trades through private messages, some of which involved hacked or genned mons. I was upfront about that and many people simply don't care.

Some players prefer only that the mon is legal. Genned is okay.
Some players prefer only that the mon is legal, with regards to in-battle effects. So things like shininess and poke ball combinations are irrelevant to them. (This is reasonable too since Pokemon Bank has rather lax checks for cosmetic aspects of mons. Anything that passes the bank, also passes the random wi-fi battling on the cartridge, as far as I know.)

I will say though that trading privately is always a risk. Smogon's rules for public trading are a way to protect anyone who wants nothing to do with hacked/genned pokemon.

I know this doesn't have to do with OU, but I don't know of anywhere else to put this as I don't know of any "general site questions" section. Can someone explain what the "follow" button does on this forum? As in, if I go to someone's profile page, and click follow someone, what happens? Do I get alerts every time that person posts, or is it just like a weird friends list type thing, or? Thanks.

If they post or like something it shows up in your news feed. It could be helpful following better players to easily view their posts and to learn from what they say.

I guess it could also respect if your friendly with the person.

In Gen 6 is it possible to breed a male deino with dark pulse, female deino with earth power, for a deino that learns both? Since moves can be passed down from both parents this generation... I'd like to try, but i figured asking here might save some time.

Yes, males and females can both pass egg moves in 6th gen. But for your particular situation, it doesn't matter as Dark Pulse is a TM.

I totally forgot about it being a TM, i've been doing most of my breeding on my Y version, and i've only got the second badge. Thanks for the information though!
