UU Simple Questions Thread

Since it looks like Amoongus is going to rise up to OU soon, what would be a good replacement for it?

If you're looking for a defensive pivot, forretress is a reasonable pokemon to look at as a replacement. It won't give you that dependable type coverage/support that amoongus offers, but it does have neat tricks of its own, like overcoat and volt-switch.

1.) Why hasn't Tornadus seen more field time in UU when heracross / hydreigon is so popular now?

2.) (not sure if I should ask this here) I think a core guide forum - similar to in NU - would be really useful for new players like myself... Isn't there one because UU is constantly changing or...?

Tornadus is actually underrated.

UU used to have a cores thread, but it was getting filled with crap so it was locked

There's a terrific defiant itemless acro set that is gaining popularity.

If you're specifically looking for a decent core that isn't the pink core or my volt-turn swamp/umb/bat core, you can try a fun slowbro/hippo/aroma (or blissey or roserade) core.

What will be the standing regarding Diancie and the upcoming stats? She was released on July 19 and so she'd only have a month and some weeks worth of statistics. That said will she be considered UU or still be OU until she at least has 3 months worth of weighted statistics to back her up? As I recall in the previous gen we had to wait quite a while until Keldeo rose up when it was initially released.

To my knowledge, despite not being out for a full three months, Diancie will still fall to UU next month, in addition to Togekiss, Quagsire, Smeargle, and Vaporeon.

So I take it then that the stance this gen will be different as compared to last. Alright then.
I believe so. Hydreigon fell to UU instead of RU after it was unbanned, and it had less than a month to be used in UU, so I believe usage doesn't factor in time in which something was unusable. I totally could be wrong though.

I believe its Slowbro, Heracross, and Amoonguss but don't quote me. There maybe some on the fringe like Mew that could rise.

Medicham has also been rising in usage, due to the Mega form now that the environment has become kinder and another mega has been booted.

steal a team and play it. look at the viability rankings for a decent idea of what's good. look at the usage stats for ideas of what moves mons use.

there's no shortcuts to learning a tier.

Okay I'm giving UU a shot, what are some basic pointers/threats I need to know for this tier? Never played it seriously before.

Biggest offensive threats ATM are Hydreigon and Victini, and thus every team should have an answer for them. Most used megas are Aerodactyl, Blastoise and Absol. Easiest archetypes right now are balance (offensive dudes w/ a few defensive pivots), and offense, especially with the current retest, Hawlucha (new retest after next tier shift, ask kokoloko if you have questions about the banning system).

I hope you enjoy your stay in the best XY tier.

Its #1 in unrated stats. In higher stats, Hydreigon is #1. Mega Blastoise is an amazing spinner because it can wreck almost all ghosts with dark pulse

It is fairly bulky too so it makes a fine clutch against certain attackers and can hit back reasonably hard.

Also, Blaster is one of the easist mons to slap on a team as evident in koko's NidoToise core which checks a bunch of the tier, complete hazzards management package as well as other minor stuff such as blocking Volt Switch ;o

basically, people pushed for ninjask to be unranked, but Limitless argued that it had a niche and kept it ranked. people responded by saying having a niche doesnt necessarily make it good, and it basically escalated to an overly dramatic war between Limitless (and a few others i cant think of off the top of my head), and most other people

tldr

unrank ninjask
no
*fighting ensues*

Doesn't Scope Lens Sniper Kingdra only reach +2 critical hit rate after one Focus Energy (and thus only give a 50% chance of making a critical hit, instead of what the sets all over smogon say?)?
