Overview
########

+Good defensive stats 86/97/107 respectivly
+good abilities especially the Storm drain ability - has an workable special attacking stat
-poor offensive presence (such as being shut down by Taunt, doesn't have alot of good attacking options)
-Mediocre defensive typing (Grass/rock)
-Shallow movepool, Especially for support, Recover is it's main appeal

Specially Defensive
########
name: Specially Defensive
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Recover
move 3: Giga Drain
move 4: Toxic / Rock Slide
ability: Storm Drain
item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
nature: Calm / Sassy

Moves
========
Stealth rock - Hazard setting, good hazard setter due to bulk, prone to taunt however
Recover - For recovery outside of leftovers
Giga drain - good STAB move for some recovery, works with storm drain
Toxic - For status infliction, useful if cradilly's STAB moves aren't very effective.
Rock slide - Physical STAB move, good for checking flying types such as Xatu, Cryogonal, and the Fire-types it wouldn't be able to check without Rock Slide. (mainly magmortar, Thyplosion) which it otherwise wouldn't be able to hit.

Set Details
========
252 HP 252 Sp def with a +sp def nature allow cradily to tank almost every special attacking in the tier, including a fire blast/eruption from Scarf Typhlosion and Special water types such as ludicolo allowing it to tank UnSTABed Ice beams
Leftovers are for passive recovery outside of recover.
Rock slide over toxic is preffered as a secondary STAB move
Usage Tips
========
•Grass STAB move allows it to threaten other common Stealth rock leading pokemon such as Seismitoad and rhydon
•Recover used as appropiately to keep cradily on modestly high HP so It can maximise it's usage throughout the battle
•if they have a flying/fire type, Don't reveal rock slide too early as it is more of a surprise attack which can catch people offguard
•If using toxic, use a calm nature with 0 Attack IVs for minimum foul play damage.
•Using sandstorm in conjunction with cradilly is a good idea as it possess the storm drain ability allowing it to sponge any water move and increasing it's high Sp def stat

Team Options
========
•Ground types, such as sandslash, to check/counter Steel types such threat cradily the most.
•a Heal bell user with good physical bulk such as Audino/Granbull, since Cradily is unable to get rid of any status outside of the unreliable rest or a lum berry
•Great on sandstorm teams, due to it's immunity to water and boosted SP def in sand

Other Options
########
•Mental herb over leftovers, Since it's low speed makes it prone to taunt and therefore will allow you to set up Stealth rock in situations where it wouldn't
•Earthquake for steel types
•Swords Dance is interesting due to dual stab moves cradilly possess, however it isn't a popular idea as torterra outclasses it as an physical attacker as cradily lacks good offensive stats, torterra also provides a similar Coverage.
•A weakness policy offensive set can be used for surprise factor, but relies on too much to set up, but can be successful if it sets up successfully

Checks & Counters
########

**Fighting types** with high attack and access to close combat such as Hariyama
**guts/Toxic boost users** This is a big threat to cradilly as it boosts their attack by 1.5x therefore hitting harder on cradilly, common abusers of this are gurrdurr and Zangoose
**Poison-types** like Vileplume, Dragalge, and Weezing, can easily stall out Cradily, or inflict it with status such as poison or burn to make the process easier. Garbodor sets up hazards easily on Cradily.
**Steel-types** such as Ferroseed and Probopass use Cradily as easy hazard fodder, whereas Klinklang and Pawniard threaten Cradily with powerful Steel STAB.
**taunt users** Cradily possess a very low speed stat which makes it vulernable to a huge chunk of taunt users, in most cases, rendering it useless.
**Substitute users** such as Uxie, Klinklang, and Bouffalant can set up with immunity before Cradily.

WIP is updated with at least 1 set completed (I will begin writing a 2nd set), any suggestions on it will be appreciated. Hopefully I can get this into QC soon, Applogies it took so long.

This defensive set gives Klinklang a free turn to set up. If you are gonna use this, I'd add a Klinklang check in TO,such as Ferroseed or Seismitoad, otherwise it be a huge threat.

Are you sure this is the best that Cradily can do? I admit I haven't used it this gen, but this set looks like it just sits there and does nothing most of the time. Defensive boosts generally are not worthwhile unless they either improve your offenses (Calm Mind, Bulk Up, Quiver Dance, Stored Power, etc.), are being passed to an offensive threat (BP) or can stack up quickly (Barrier, Cotton Guard, Amnesia, etc.). There are some exceptions (like CM + Cotton Guard Slurpuff) but this doesn't look like one of them. This set is walled by almost every Steel and Poison type in the tier, who can use Cradily as set up bait. I also don't like the fact that Stealth Rock isn't in its own slot, as otherwise I see little reason to use defensive Cradily at all. Personally I think a set of Stealth Rock, Recover, Giga Drain, and some filler move like Toxic or coverage is more effective in the long run, but let me test it out or let QC decide on a set of their own.

Yeah I dont think infestation deserves a slash I would like the first set to look more like a special wall set

I used Cradily pretty effectively with Rock Slide used for fire/flying types, however if running toxic run Calm Nature.

Your formatting is a little off, you shouldnt write up anything until you have 3 QC checks, so please change Usage Tips and Other Options to bullet points. And if you need a reference for the formatting click http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/generation-6-analysis-format.3495073/ here

Cranham are you still working on this? You have yet to make any of the changes I suggested. If you are still working on this please test out Cradily in XY NU with the suggested set or a very similar one before you make the changes.

Applogies, I've had a really busy and stressful month with real life issues and I honestly forgotten about this thread in the meantime, so thanks for tagging me, Yes I will be working on this and I'll write something up within 24hrs

Overview
########

+Good defensive stats 86/97/107 respectivly
+Good move pool, access to stealth rocks and other support moves
+good abilities especially the Storm drain ability - has an workable special attacking stat
+It has a low speed stat which allows it to work in a trick room team; however this speed lets it down outside of trick room. which means it can be shut down by taunt users or KO'D by strong physical attackers.
-Mediocre defensive typing (Grass/rock)
Its movepool is actually fairly shallow, mention that it has a limited support movepool, and that Recover is its main appeal.
Cradily does not work on a Trick Room team since its poor offenses only means it would waste Trick Room turns for other much harder hiting teammates, so cancel the point about TR.
Do touch upon its poor offensive presence (such as being shut down by Taunt like you said).

Usage Tips
========
•Stealth rocks should be used on the very first turn if cradily is leading, if you're predicting a switch in or if their lead can't threaten cradily in any way
•Recover used as appropiately to keep cradily on modestly high HP so It can maximise it's usage throughout the battle
•if they have a flying/fire type, Don't reveal rock slide too early as it is more of a surprise attack which can catch people offguard
•If using toxic, use a calm nature with 0 Attack IVs for minimum foul play damage.
You don't need to mention that it should set up Stealth Rock if leading because that is somewhat obvious. You can say that its Grass STAB does allow it to threaten opposing Stealth Rock leads, such as Seismitoad and Rhydon.
You can make a mention of this Cradily's use in a Sandstorm team, helping them sponge up Water moves, as well special attacks due to the Sandstorm boost.

Team Options
========
•Ground types, such as sandslash, to check/counter Steel types such threat cradily the most.
•a Heal bell user with good physical bulk such as Audino/Granbull, since Cradily is unable to get rid of any status outside of the unreliable rest or a lum berry
•Spikes stacker especially if playing hyper offense, Qwilfish possess taunt, spikes and toxic spikes
Cradily is a horrible fit on Hyper Offense teams, remove this point. You can mention Sand teams though for the reasons above.

Stall set
########
name: Defensive
move 1: Infestation
move 2: Toxic
move 3: Recover
move 4: Stockpile/Stealth rock
ability: Suction Cups/Storm Drain
item: Leftovers
IVs: 0 attack
EVs: 252 HP 172 Def, 84 SP Def
nature: Bold
Eh, no strong opinion on this set. QC thoughts?

Other Options
########
•STAB Moves on stall Set such as Giga drain or rock slide
•Mental herb over leftovers, since alot of support moves are used
•Earthquake for steel types
Mention that Swords Dance is interesting due to Cradily's good dual STAB combination, but its offensive stats just aren't up for the job.

Checks & Counters
########

**Fighting types** with high attack and access to close combat such as Hariyama
**Zangoose** this is a big threat to Cradily due to it's ability toxic boost which boosts it's attack by 1.5x and toxicating zangoose benefits it rather than hindering, has access to close combat.
**Feraligatr** - can check with ice punch, especially after a swords dance
**Bulky Poison/Steel poison types** - Immune to toxic, Cradily can't wear these down
**taunt users** Cradily possess a very low speed stat which makes it vulernable to a huge chunk of taunt users, in most cases, rendering it useless.
**Heal bell** users, this is more of a check than a counter, they can get rid of any status cradily inflicts. A decent heal bell check is Granbull as it has access to close combat.
**Klingklang** - Gets a free turn to set up using the defensive set and hits hard with stab gear grind
I'm not sure if singling out Zangoose is noteworthy. Maybe just mention Guts or Toxic Boost users in general, since nearly all of them can easily take advantage of Toxic Cradily.
Feraligatr does not check Cradily (especially without a boost beforehand), it is Cradily that walls Gatr without Ice Punch. Remove this point.

I think bulky Poisons and Steels can be separated. I know they are both immune to Toxic, but you might as well just lump Substitute Pokemon in this category, and we don't arbitrarily cram counters for vaguely similar purposes.
Poison-types, like Vileplume, Dragalge, and Weezing, can easily stall out Cradily, or inflict it with status such as poison or burn to make the process easier. Garbodor sets up hazards easily on Cradily.
Steel-types such as Ferroseed and Probopass use Cradily as easy hazard fodder, whereas Klinklang and Pawniard threaten Cradily with powerful Steel STAB.
Substitute users such as Uxie, Klinklang, and Bouffalant can set up with impunity before Cradily.

Granbull does not usually use Close Combat. In fact, most clerics bar Vileplume and Synchronize Musharna do poorly against Cradily face-to-face.

Klinklang does not need its own section.

You'll need to mention why Swords Dance is not a popular idea, such as the poor offensive stats thing, and Torterra has similiar coverage and is a much more effective attacker.

Mention relevant Rock Slide targets, such as Xatu, Cryogonal, and the Fire-types it wouldn't be able to check without Rock Slide.

Remove the "good movepool" part in Overview.

Specs Magmortar isn't a thing. Replace with special attackers like Scarf Typhlosion, or special Water-types such as Ludicolo.

QC 1/3 if u do this

Updated, I believe.

Edit: fixed massive typo

When mentioning Ludicolo, say that the EV spread lets Cradily tank unSTABed Ice Beams (which was what I meant when I seaid Cradily walls specially offensive Water-types); there is no point in saying that a specially defensive spread is better than, say a physically defensive spead, at tanking Water attacks when it takes no damage at all.

The targets for Rock Slide should be mentioned in Moves, not Set Details. You can also remove the point about Giga Drain in Set Details too, since you're supposed to explain its use in Moves.

Oops, I believe that's correct now

WIP is updated with at least 1 set completed (I will begin writing a 2nd set), any suggestions on it will be appreciated. Hopefully I can get this into QC soon, Applogies it took so long.

Mind if I suggest a few sets that I like to use? (I am literally obsessed with this mon and use different variants)

Cradily @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 248 HP / 54 SpA / 208 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stone Edge
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb / Earth Power
- Recover
This is my main set for cradily and believe me it puts in WORK. It allows it to beat out common things like sd gatr unless it has life orb ice punch and they set up as u switch in. Also beat a variety of shit that want to put it to sleep but can't IE vivillion, and can do damage to you're choice of either steel/ poison types with e power or grass/ fairy types with sludge bomb. Earth power is generally better but sludge bomb comes as a surprise against slurpuffs that want to set up a belly drum on it and lets cradily beat out tangela since it already resists the sleep powder and lech seed variants.

On the other hand earth power allows you to DESTROY things like probopass and steelix and you can live 1 hit from pawniard before swords dance and hit it with earth power. You cannot live klinklang even before it sets up and can't beat pawn after it does but you can at least hit them on the switch. Also it allows u to get around the overall irritating muk and dragalge but does not give you a chance against plume/ weezing as they still win out.

Counters to this set are easily plume, weezing, and hariyama as they can always come in on any of cradily's moves and win out the fight with cradily virtually unscathed. Most other things like sawk are just checks simply because they take way to much damage switching into the wrong move. That said it is walled but things like uxie, audino, and lickiylicky where there is nothing it can do to get past them.

Strong checks to cradily are obviously things like klinklang, sawk, armaldo, and primeape who can all 1HKO cradily but don't switch in nearly as well.

Things I would recommend as team mates for cradily is (like you said) a good heal bell user, a good steel type check such as steelix, probopass, seismatoad who can wreck most steel types, a good fighting type check such as granbull, or weezing, and something that has the easy ability to set up and get past walls like uxie and audino.

Another set I like to use is:

Cradily @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Earth Power
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Recover
Although this is fairly similar to the set above this set is meant to be on a sand team. With modest investment cradily can do far more damage off the rip and is still extremely bulky due to the sandstorm going on in the background. it has a bit more trouble handling flying bugs that like to set up quiver dances but all the same it does huge damage especially after weakness policy boost. This things coverage moves allow it to destroy a huge portion of the metagame.

Counters are the same things as listed above.

Teammates for this cradily would be a heal bell user, Baby Hippo (hippopotus), something to counter fighting types, and stoutland.
