ORAS General Discussion - Mark 2 - Spoilers Inside

Just throwing it out there, but it wouldn't be hard at all to change up the available TMs and HMs a bit in ORAS. Now that TMs are reusable and can't be held/traded, some can be switched around with no penalty in regards to compatibility with X/Y

That's a good point. I completely forgot the reason the TMs didn't change was for compatibility reasons. Okay then, so I guess Flash, Rock Smash, and Dive are coming back as HMs. They could replace Flash and Rock Smash's TM with two of the missing Gen III TMs. Heck, maybe even swap out 6 others with the missing Gen III TMs (I'm sure Pikachu (and others) wouldn't mind being able to learn Iron Tail again and many Grass-types having access to Giga Drain).

So I was wrong about them changing the TM list, but that doesn't mean they're going to go overboard with it. Rock Smash and (probably) Flash are the only TMs that are guaranteed to get changed, and even then they'll probably be replaced by Water Pulse (only Gym Leader TM from Hoenn that didn't stay a TM) and Secret Power (needed for Secret Bases).
There's also Shock Wave.

Regardless, this is pretty new. If they are changing up the TM lists I really hope they don't dump anything important from XY; I don't want to be trading between games just so my Pokémon can know both Focus Blast from XY and Giga Drain from ORAS.

They'd never replace Focus Blast. If they replace anything it'll be a move not part of the original Gen III TM list.

... Focus Blast didn't even exist in any form in Gen 3.

Regardless, it was just an example - you get the idea. I don't want to have to trade Pokémon back and forth between games just for specific TM moves.

Oops, my bad. But still they'd never replace Focus Blast. Since its introduction it's been a TM move. Actually TM is the only way to teach a Pokemon Focus Blast since only one Pokemon learns it naturally, Yveltal.

But I get your point.

Mega Beedrill.

What.

Things are about to go down... *gets ready* GIVE ME YOUR BEST SHOT!

Finally Beedrill becomes relevant. It does have a decent movepool but just lacks the stats. Now with a Mega, it'll get the stats it desperately wanted!
Same with Mega Bird Jesus!
Beedrill is completely hopeless even with a Mega because its Base Stats are so bad. A BST of 495 is slightly better than Bisharp (who can at least run an item), but ts coverage comes down to Drill Run and Brick Break. It'd need new moves and/or a broken ability to justify its existence.

At least Egoraptor will be happy.

Also, now that we are officially getting the Mega lati's, it's going to be interesting to see what they look like. Will they actually give them differing designs now? Will they match the original colors? I still think that purple thing was just a beta form, I'll be shocked if that's truly how they look.

It does get Knock Off though.
What doesn't get Knock Off?

I'm seriously pissed that they're giving Megas to Mons that will be worthless even after Mega Evolving. First Audino, now Beedrill (Pidgeot is salvageable because it has an actual BST). Neither of those Pokemon are available in Hoenn as far as we know so they don't even have the excuse of being usable in the story.

The Mega Latis are probably the only Megas that, from what I've gathered, have universally hated designs. Hopefully GF knows we know they exist and changed the designs.

They'd be hard-pressed to explain how a purple Mega Lati design that they both MEvo into in XY is just a placeholder form for new, individual forms.
Besides, I kinda like how they evolve into the same thing. It's like, through mega evolution and the bonds of friendship, their body gains the second half of a whole Lati and they transcend their mystical connection to each other.
Thanks, miracles.

But the problem with that is they'll then need to prevent their Mega Stone from being transferable between games. Which, while possible, would kind of defeat the purpose of including them in XY. I mean, it could be possible that they are early beta and when ORAS was decided upon they just stopped working on them.

In addition they actually aren't the same model, surprisingly enough. Their body looks the same, but their eyes are different colors. In addition I think they also have different animations.

Very possibly. Just like with Aerodactyl, they could go with the idea that this is sort of the Eon Duo's "ancient form". A long time ago the Eon Duo were one single species, however the differences in gender for some reason caused them to split into two different species. Them Mega Evolving could be then looked upon them returning to their roots, showing that only when they're together can the Eon Duo access their true potential (which apparently doesn't give them a Speed boost despite being based on a jet plane, moreso in their Mega Evolution...).

I think they should maybe try to do something with Fell Stinger. It sounds like an interesting move and maybe if supported it could actually make Mega Beedrill a threat

And at least Beedrill is fully evolved. Besides Mawile's BST is 380 yet it became a beast thanks to the right Ability.

And once again I'm going to mention my theory of them expanding the Hoenn Pokedex to include a lot more Pokemon.

Can't wait for the reveal. Mega Beedrill I'd like to try out along with Pidgeot. Nice to see GF giving pokemon a mega who otherwise couldn't really be improved upon other than having BST's completely reworked.

Which is what they should have done in the first place instead of giving Pokemon were still able to evolve normally a Mega Evolution...

Gonna stop ya right there.
Latios/Latias are based on Aeons, spiritual entities that exist in pairs of one masculine and one feminine soul. That's why Latiosi are boys and Latias' are girls.
My fan theory is, since an Aeon is one half of a whole "state of being", the power granted through Mega Evolution gives them the physical and spiritual constitution of a complete Aeon body.

Similar to how Gardevoir and Gallade lose their green coloring and they become more white; Mega evolution provides them with a stronger strain of their best potential, and their bodies change shape and color to resemble them becoming a purer, more perfect state of themselves.

Guess that's another way of looking at it. Guess that sort of also goes along with their yin and yang theme of being one half of a whole.

So no surprises in terms of Mega Lati@s so far, I'm curious with how they look and if its the same as X/Y

Pidgeot and Beedrill are fan favorites (especially the former due to nostalgia reasons) who has been useless competitively for a very long time. These are the kind of Pokemon that deserve a Mega more than anyone else so that they can actually be useful. That being said they are going to need to give Beedrill a very good ability for it to be viable in order to make up for its poor BST. Otherwise it will just become the Mega of NU. Pidegot has very well rounded stats so a Mega with focused stat gains should make it quite strong. I'm very happy these two are getting a Mega evolution.

And does the conformation of mega Beedrill mean Mega Butterfree is about to show itself? They are the bug pair of Gen 1 and Butterfree is a VERY popular bug...
