I don't know if this has been suggested before (I don't really want to go through 35 pages!) but has anyone ever used a Shuca Berry Natural Gift Talonflame simply for Heatran?

Talonflame @ Shuca Berry
Gale Wings
Adamant Nature
252 Atk / Enough speed to outrun Heatran / Rest in HP
-Swords Dance
-Brave Bird
-Roost
-Natural Gift

I mean I haven't tested it, but I've always liked the idea of Natural Gift... (Wacan Berry Scizor for Gyara anyone :P)

Maybe it's terrible, but maybe it's good? I will probably hate myself if it becomes a thing though, as I hate Talonflame on a good day!

It's been done, mostly Liechi Berry to hit Rotom-W though as it was(/is) basically on every team and would often be the main TFlame switch.

Also since you most likely wont use BB before taking out the TFlame check with a +2 Natural Gift, running Acrobatics becomes an option on this set.

Natural Gift Talon has been a set that's been around for quite a while, it's a fun set, and I like it.

Salac is probably better than Shuca, though, seeing as it kills TTar and Heatran after chip damage (+2 252 Atk Salac Berry Talonflame Natural Gift (100 BP Fighting) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 302-356 (78.4 - 92.4%)) and if it's offensive Tran it OHKOs after rocks.

The set's essentially pick your poison between Liechi for Rotom-W and Rhyperior, Shuca for the 100% OHKO on Tran, and Salac for TTar and Tran after chip damage.

I think the fact that he didnt have a Bird Check may have played a part in this. I mean even Heatran wasnt really a check since it was a scarfer.

Sounds interesting but gets walled by skarmory.

ScarfTran runs a Rock move just for Talonflame and Zard Y, so it's definitely a check.

How effective is Stallbreaker Talonflame in ORAS, considering Sableye is the premier Stall Mega, and he blocks WoW, and can even boost on Talonflame if it's CM?
0 Atk Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Sableye: 67-81 (22 - 26.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

Obviously one new check/counter doesn't immediately make a set unviable, but considering the Stallbreaker has trouble with the current face of Stall, I'm curious.

I've seen some stallbreaker T-Flames recently, and they damage my team more than offensive T-Flames (my team is based on sticky web and I use Shuckle as my setter).

Are there are any good crossup/mixing builds for Talon? The first thing that comes to mind sounds sketchy but fun. Both of it's attack stats are kindof crap, but getting Brave Bird and a special fire STAB to go under physical walls sounds pretty annoying.

Talonflame @ LifeOrb
Gale Wings
Brave Nature
252Atk/130SAtk/126SDef
-Brave Bird
-Heat Wave
-Roost
-Taunt

Alexfowl returns?

Yeah no, it's far too weak on the Special side and you're lowering your speed (important to not get out-prioritized by stuff like Bisharp) just to make it hit slightly harder. If it had Hurricane it might have been somewhat viable to run mixed, but even then does it even let it get past any of its checks or counters?

No. Kindoffunny- but no.

It's just a curio, if crossup potential exists- it's worth asking around about and running calcs on imo, so I just thought to ask about practicality in actual play.
I'm going to assume when you say "crossup" you mean "mixed".

There isn't really anything notable you hit except for Ferrothorn (which you do KO) if you don't like Iron Barbs, but even then it's not worth it when you can just run Roost on a SD set and not gimp your Speed.

Also 2 of your EVs are wrong, as 130 and 126 aren't divisible by 4.

What is the difference in damage output between sharp beak and choice band? I run TFlame on the same team as cSpecs Raikou and I generally don't like having 2 choice users on the same team.

Choice Band gives a 1.5x boost to all attacking moves while Sharp Beak gives a 1.2x (I believe that's what it is) boost to solely Flying moves. Sharp Beak sets like to run SD, which can be easy to pull off with Talonflame as it's one of the easiest pokes in the OU metagame to force a switch with.
