UU Simple Questions Thread

Although if you're talking about irc it means Internet relay chat where a lot of smogon players use to communicate and can be accessed from mibbit.com. I just assumed you could have meant that since the thread title and all.

Also can I have your source for that's how confusion works King UU I couldn't find on bulbapedia or serebii which are my usual go to sources.

It's an educated guess, based on my understanding of propositional logic.

How much speed does Mamph need to run to outspeed min relaxed swampert and then how much for min neutral swampert?

The All-Out Attacker set assigns 124 Speed EV's which lets M-Amphy outrun neutral base 60's and that includes Swampert. Well, for Relaxed Swampert, you'd only need 60 EV's.

Is there any good Wish users that pair up with mega blastoise?

What teams does Mega-blastoise fit on the best?
Some wish passers that work well with Stoise are Florges, Aromatisse, and Umbreon. The other competent wish passers in the tier like Vape and Alom kinda make the water typing redundant, but you can use them if you want if you account for their weaknesses.

Mega Stoise is usually seen on Bulky Offense teams, but it can fit on Balance teams as well.

What are some defensive and then offensive counters to Curselax; phazers don't really count for me.

Creative answers work too!

I'm really liking Coballion to beat Curselax since it's really bulky and resists the normal or dark attack that that Curselax generally carries. Most Fighting types can beat it given a free switch however like Lucario, Machamp, Mienshao, and Infernape; I'm probably forgetting some, but you get the idea.

Most Curselax just carry normal STAB tho so you can just beat it with a ghost type like Sub CM Chandy, SD Doublade, or Taunt Jellicent. Tricking Lax a chioce item shuts it down fairly well too. Cheers

Just started using Jelli and beyond beating a Curselax, it's honestly been putting so much work in!

Thanks for the suggestions

Why was Shadow Tag banned instead of it's abusers (namely Wobb) send to the BL limbo like in last gen? Was it because everyone were just finally sick of this bs ability?

Basically Gothorita was doing the same thing as Gothitelle pre-Goth ban, which just confirmed that the ability as a whole was broken in UU rather than certain individual users.

I would ask this in the VR thread but it's such a simple question:

Why isn't Mega Diancie ranked since it is currently legal (albeit likely temporarily)? IIRC, Thundurus-T was ranked during its testing round.

I don't follow UU all that much but why is Nidoqueen ranked higher than Nidoking in the ORAS UU viability rankings?

Nidoqueen has a lot of extra bulk that allows it to check more threats (and take on Volt Switch users more easily) and Nidoking's Speed doesn't do that much more that it warrants a spot above Queen

I think it is because she has more roles than Nidoking . You can play her on Offense /Balanced/Stall team thank to her great bulk .

Nice way to put it, but just to add to that:
Nidoqueen is possibly the best offensive rocker in the tier (apart from maybe Jirachi), serves as a nice fighting check as opposed to Nidoking (king is 2hkod by scarfshao and queen is not) and Queen is also the more viable toxic spikes setter of the two, the best toxic spikes setter offensively.

Queen is a staple on Bulky Offense as it's the best offensive fighting check in the tier outside of Crobat, and commonly found on most balance teams due to its ability to both wallbreak and reliably set up stealth rocks, especially for those balance teams that prefer to use Vaporeon or Suicune over Swampert as their fire check. Being a ground type in this metagame is very valuable with Raikou and Mega Ampharos being so popular, as well. Nidoking finds a place on more hyper offensive teams as opposed to bulky offensive because of its nice speed tier, 9 points above nidoqueen, allowing it to outspeed base 80s. This gives nidoking more power as a up-front wallbreaker. Also, Nidoking hits much harder with Superpower and Sucker Punch which allows it to deal with Blissey and psychic types like Alakazam more effectively. The damage increase between the two physically is about 10%, with Nidoqueen doing 47% at min uninvested to Blissey with Superpower and uninvested Nidoking doing 57% at min.

tl;dr the reason Nidoqueen is better is because of its ability to check fighting types, wallbreak and set hazards which gives it an incredible amount of utility for most archetypes.

Thanks for the answers but how would you run an offensive set when most of its moves are special attacking. 75 spa (even with full evs) is pretty mediocre at best.

Between Sheer Force, Life Orb, and a Modest nature, Nidoqueen's attacks are actually surprisingly powerful (since you're asking for it to be compared to Nidoking, Modest Queen is actually just a tad stronger than Timid King, and has more than enough bulk to make up for the speed difference).
