Bronzong with heatproof

I think that everyone with a little bit of knowledge of pokemon would NEVER EVER use an Earthquake against a Bronzong 'cause everyone knows he's carrying levitate right?? Instead they go with fire atacks...if someone very bright would use heatproof on bronzong (without anyone knowing) the damage of fire attacks would be reduced to 1.33%... So Bronzong would become even harder to defeat since no one would dare to try an earthquake on him....
 
More than the fact that people dont use EQ on you, its the ability to switch in on EQs thats helped me get Bronzong in.

Swampert/Hippo for example.
 
fox fear thats been suggested before. if you switch in on a earthquake your scewed and then when they try using a fire attack they'll figure out its not levitate. theres no point of making a thread of this
 
Much of Bronzong's strength comes from its ability to switch in...removing Levitate removes that ability.

Not to mention that, after the first fire attack lands, they realize what's going on.
 
yea my bronzong is set up like that. If you switch him in at a time when they don't use a ground move they tend not to know.although I throw mine out agaisnt infernape or blaziken to psychic them.(But that was my old team)
 
Good Idea, but if this gets popular then it won't work because everyone will suspect it and they won't play into your hands.
 
Not to mention Infernape (most common fire type) still puts a huge hurt on Bronzong with boosted fire moves. The only thing this will help against would be random Fire Blasts from Garchomp and stuff (no point as EQ will bludgeon you) and SpeceMence.
AND you lose the ability to switch in on Earthquakes..
 
Just leave it. Bronzong's strongest selling point is Levitate. It allows him to switch in on EQ. Why would you switch that for something that gives you a resist to Fire, a type whose common moves will still have 120 BP against you?
 
I did this on shoddy and nobody has even tried to use EQ on it it still can switch into many things but try to predict thats not EQ.
 
I had a set like this for a short time, It worked great until they used a fire attack :( I'd just stick with levitate, tbh.
 
Why is everyone forgetting that Bronzong learns Imprison?

Earthquake
Imprison
Pick two: Rest/Hidden Power/Substitute/Calm Mind/Protect/Stealth Rock

Imprison is self-targeting, so even if your foe switches out, they'll still be locked down.

For 2v2:
Bronzong @ Leftovers "Imploder"
Heatproof
Earthquake
Imprison
Explosion
Protect

Absolutely evil.
 
Another problem is that with Levitate you're immune to Spikes, and Skarmory is rather common. One layer down and they know Bronzong's weakness.
 
Agreeing with everything here pretty much. When they hit you with the first Fire Attack, they'll realise it isn't doing as much damage as usual.

It can be effective, but like everyone said, losing the ability to switch in on Earthquake takes away one of Bronzongs greatest assets

Levitate is definately better.
 
Never ever think of that idea. I faced a kid he used garchomps earthquake and made my poke faint(magnezone)then switched into bronzong. Kid understood and earthquaked again which cost me the match. I thought he would dragon claw but anyway it is pretty useless and spikes definetely makes the opponent realize the ability. It can still work but why waste the true talent of bronzong. The desicion is yours weaken fire attacks or be immune to ground attacks?
 
Of course, Earthquake is also a lot more common than fire attacks, so that's another reason to go with Levitate: it's perfectly possible to go several battles without seeing a single fire attack, thus rendering Heatproof useless.
 
I think this idea's just as bad as the Use Sand Viel duggy because no one will check. When they find out it's fire they will use EQ move's, you're taking the risk to stop one fire move, not worth it...
 
It's very very noticible when your attack doesen't do a lot of damage super effective. You can try to pull of a facade (not the move) with this, but I'd only recomend trying it if you get a cursed baby with 31/31/31/x/31/0 with heatproof.

Bronzong with Heatproof: Can be trapped and killed by Dugtrio

Bronzong with Levitate: Owns Dugtrio!

Use Levitate.
