Hey guys, I'm pretty new here. Got a lot of advice on my first team and would appreciate it again. After doing some battling I've made some tweaks but would just like some advice if there's threats that i haven't run into completely steamrolling me.
Metagross @ Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Stealth Rock
Metagross is my lead the majority of the time. His job is to basically set up SR and be a dragon check. I've experimented with Explosion in the third spot but I've run into a few Outrage dragons that have just curb-stomped me due to my lack of other steels and fairies so I put Ice Punch on there to deal with those types. The other two moves are just coverage.
Charizard-Mega-X (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 144 HP / 252 Atk / 112 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Dragon Dance
My bulkier X-Zard is one of the main physical attackers on the team. Dragon Claw is for other Dragons and I chose Earthquake over Flare Blitz or something similar just because the opposition will almost always switch out if their team has a weakness to fire so Earthquake ends up working a bit better. Roost is for longevity and DD is to set up a sweep if I get the chance.
Gengar (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Substitute
Gengar is my spin-blocker to prevent Excadrill and the like from clearing the field of the rocks I've set up. I chose the moveset because I've had some trouble with Chansey,(Focus Blast) Mega-Slowbro(Shadow Ball) and Fairy types(Sludge Wave.) Substitute is to deal with Bisharp who has absolutely wrecked my team in the past with Sucker Punch, Iron Head, etc.
Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Reflect Type
- Recover
- Rapid Spin
Main role is to clear the field for Charizard-X who can get destroyed by switching into Stealth Rocks due to the 4x weakness. Recover and Reflect Type are to outlast Bisharp who like I said in the one above has destroyed my entire team in previous battles. I chose Scald as a strong STAB attack that can inflict a burn every once in a while.
Thundurus @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunder Wave
Serves as a check to the bulky water types that will try to switch in on Charizard. The Grass Knot is to deal with Mega-Swampert and other Grass/Ground types who have given me some problems as well. The HP Ice is for the Landorus switch in which happens pretty frequently when I put in Thundurus. The T-Wave/Prankster combination is to make sure that he's going to be attacking first.
Terrakion @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Basically a revenge killer. I set up his combination of moves to deal with as many threats as possible on another member's recommendation. The Close Combat/Stone Edge are killer with the STAB and Earthquake can do some damage as well. The HP Ice will catch Garchomp and Dragonite off guard, it won't be a OHKO but it almost always forces a switch because the next hit is going to take them out.
