ORAS OU A journey through time, and walls. [Mega-Charizard-X Team]

Hello and welcome to my first Rate-My-Team on Smogon, I've been wondering around these forums for quite some time and finally decided to post a RMT. This team is based around the very powerful Mega Charizard X, my 2nd favorite Mega from X&Y.

006-mega-x.png

I began with Bulky DD Mega Charizard X (Now using Jolly max speed for Lando). I loved it's power, great sweeping ability and outstanding offensive pressure on all playstyles. From past experience, Landorus-T, Terrakion, Garchomp, Dragonite, Azumarill, Lati@s, Talomflame and lately Mega Diancie give it some trouble, so checking said Pokémon was important.

Tyranitar was a main contender for it's ability to trap Lati@s and counter Bird Spam, but then HA Tyrantrum came out and I started to experiment with It. just loved how the Banded set ruined a bunch of Pokémon, including 2HKOing many defensive 'mons like Mega Slowbro, Cresselia, etc... with its extremely spammable Head Smash.

To counter Landorus-T and Bird Spam, I added the Washing Machine. I went Physically Defensive to be able to take on Lando' and Talomflame easier.

A friend of mind then recommended Celebi, to be able to check Terrakion and other Fighting types, and Azumarill. He recommended the current set since It had a chance against Bisharp with a bit of Physical Bulk. It also functioned well against Heatran and many others.

To severely injure Fairies, check Rotom-Wash and other Levitate users, and get control hazards, Choice Scarfed Excadrill was added. I never used before and I love how it helped the team.

Finally, I needed to be able to set up Rocks, and be able to stop set-up sweepers like Dragonite. SR Unaware Clefable was chosen. It's a wonderful support 'Mon with Heal Bell keeping the team status free, setting up Rocks and wrecking a bunch of things with STAB Moonblast.
| Without further ado, here's the team:

006-mega-x.gif

Volatile (Charizard) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze ~> Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch/Flare Blitz
- Earthquake/Roost

The star of the team and my 2nd favorite Mega from X&Y, It's amazing at sweeping, boasting very few hard counters. Dragon Dance allows it to set up and ruin lives. Dragon Claw and Fire Punch (Flare Blitz if no Roost since recoil really hurts) are his obligatory dual STABs allowing to break past most of the metagame. Lastly Earthquake allows Mega-Zard-X to handle Heatran, which would wall it otherwise, while Roost keeps 'Zard healthy throughout the battle and heal Flare Blitz's recoil. EVs allow Zard to maximize Speed and dish out the most damage, I chose Jolly over Adamant since to Outspeed and OHKO Landorus-T at +1.

697.gif

Tyrone (Tyrantrum) @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Dragon Claw
- Superpower
- Earthquake

Rock Head Banded Tyrantrum is one of my favorite new toys. It was added to the team because I wanted to try it out, and I just loved how it absolutely ruins defensive Pokémon, with the added plus of OHKOing Landorus-T after Rocks on the switch. Head Smash is Tyrantrum's most spamable move doing huge damage to most Pokémon that don't resist it. Dragon Claw, Superpower and Earthquake provide nice secondary coverage to break a wide range of Pokémon. The EV spread allow it to deal the most damage possible with a Adamant nature and max speed allows it to outspeed anything it can, It's also quite useful to speed tie Bisharp and the other base 70's.

479-wash.gif

Electrolux (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 240 Def / 20 SpD
Bold Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split

I chose Rotom-Wash since it's one of Landorus-T's best counters, It also brings wonderful utility to the team. Hydro Pump allows it to break Ground-types like Hippowdon and Landorus, while Volt Switch allows it to act as a Pivot and form a VoltTurn core with Celebi (below), while countering Bird Spam. Thunder Wave was chosen over Will-O-Wisp since it's ability to slow down threats allow TTrum and 'Zard to sweep easily. Rotom's ability to phaze out Ground types (Bar Mold Breaker Excadrill) also work in it's favor. EVs maximize physical Bulk and and a bit of Special bulk, I'm not running 44 Spe since Azumarill is taking care of by Celebi.

251.gif

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 224 HP / 148 Def / 28 SpA /108 Spe
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Perish Song/Earth Power
- Psychic
- Recover

Celebi is a wonderful 'mon . I chose it since it fills most of the teams lacking roles, and counters some useful Pokémon. Earth Power allows Celebi to handle Heatran, and other Steel Types. Giga Drain is it's obligatory STAB allowing it to deal with Water Types, like Rotom-Wash and many others. Psychic handles Poison Types like Mega Venusaur, which would otherwise really hurt this team, while Perish Song forces out Set-Up Sweepers. Recover inceases Celebi's survivability and help heal back the Life Orb recoil. The EVs ensure Celebi to OHKO a +0 Bisharp after Stealth Rock.

530.gif

Tungstein (Excadrill) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

The one and only Mold Breaker Excadrill. Paired with a Choice Scarf, Excadrill can decimate a plethora of Pokémon. Earthquake with Mold Breaker is by far the most spammable to break through lots of Pokémon like Lati@s, Gengar and Rotom-Wash. Iron Head makes Excadrill a great Fairy killer., while Rock Slide allow it to counter flying types, like Talonflame. Rapid Spin provides the much needed hazard support for Mega-Charizard-X and the rest of the team. EVs allow Excadrill to hit as hard and as fast as possible.

036.gif

Selena (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell
- Moonlight

Lastly we have Clefable. I chose to include it as it provides great team support keeping all status free. It also is the team's SR setter. Moonblast is Clefable's obligatory fairy STAB, taking care of Dragons, Fighting, and Dark Types. Moonlight increases Clefable suvivabilty. EVs allow Clefable to survive a +2 Waterfall from Mega Gyarados, and maximize bulk.

Thanks for checking out my RMT, Feel free to leave a rate!

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake

Tyrantrum @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Dragon Claw
- Superpower
- Earthquake

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 240 Def / 20 SpD
Bold Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 224 HP / 148 Def / 28 SpA / 108 Spe
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Perish Song
- Psychic
- Recover

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell
- Moonlight
Gengar
| This is the biggest danger to my team, not much can tank a hit and It's annoying, have to sack a 'Mon to Revenge kill with Excadrill. I'm considering Bisharp for T-Trum's position, but I'm not sure since it would deepen a Fighting-Type Weakness.

Mega Metagross
| This thing is just broken, Mega Charizard X can kinda check but it's annoying to take down, Excadrill can also doma bunch with EQ.
P.S. Excuse some bad grammar at places, English is my second language.

EDIT 1: Changed the 'Zard set and slashed Perish Song on Celebi

Hi, first chance that stands out to me is: give your celebii perish song over psychic so you can stop bulky set up sweepers like clefable or mega slowbro giving up almost usless coverage. By doing that you can afford to run magic guard clefable which gives you a lot more utility. You can run standard thunder wave set by doing that. I'd chance the set to leftovers bulky, baton pass for earth power since its something that your team needs more. I think if you run max speed jolly on your charizard x you can benifit much more than a little bit of bulk. In landorus-t heavy meta outspeeding the scarfed set (and still having 93% chance to ohko after rocks) is just great. Also by giving up roost for EQ you won't get walled by heatran, one of the few zardx checks on balance. If you give your rotom-w thunder wave over pain split you can kind of lure the oppozing zardx since it loves to set up on rotoms. I found a few mons that your team autho-looses to: mega altaria, mega gardevoir, gengar and mega venusaur. I found a glue that can cover all of these. Its bulk up talonflame. Not only it counters all these threads but also burns landorus-t which walls the most of your team (the defensive set). Even tho Tyrantrum is a really cool mon it doesnt do much for your team, so i recomend you to drop it for talon.

I'll test out pretty much everything.
Perish Song on Celebi seems good, though Psychic is great for Venusaur, Also why Baton Pass? U-turn would do the same, and be a bit better...
Oh and EQ is now slashed on Charizard. Thunder Wave is also already in use on Rotom-Wash...
I'm very iffy on Talomflame, the massive SR weakness it would bring with 2 Fire/Flying Mons in not a good idea. Only thing I'd probably switch for Tyrantrum is Bisharp.
To handle the after mentioned threats I have these:
| Mega Altaria: Excadrill (Iron Head), Clefable (If Unaware)
| Mega Gardevoir: Excadrill (Iron Head)
| Gengar: Excadrill (Earthquake)
| Mega Venusaur: Celebi (with Current set & Psychic, Faster than It and 2HKOs)

EDIT: I'll use the 'Zard set.

Just my take on the changes.

its just you will have a way of switching in or these mons. now you can check them ut thy get a kill everytime they come in. but its your choice

Alright, Another thing is I used Talonflame on my last team and I'd like some diversity. Wallbreaker you recommend? Bisharp seems to drag a Fire/Fighting weakness to the team I don't like.

EDIT: Also Swapped Earth Power for Perish Song. Allows me to scare out Bisharp, though I sack pretty much sack Celebi in the process... Also Unaware Clefable does more for the team by stopping set-ups (including Altaria-M) and Heal Bell lets me be a bit more wreckless on my predictions with I prefer, since I tend to over or underpredict.

Nice team. (Flare punch = Fire punch, not to be OCD)
Tyrantrum is a boss with Rock Head, I've tried him out with good results.
Brick Break over Rock slide on Excadrill for coverage and shield breaks.
Overall good team, good luck with Char X and the gang!

Why would you run brick break on excadrill? All of the steels it would bop get bopped harder by eq, all of the ones with air balloons just need a hit before they can get hit by eq and then all of the flying types get at least neutrally hit by rock slide. I would stick with slide instead of break, but its your team and ill leave that choice up to you.

Yea ok, sorry I'm not in your favor, but I have made many kills with Brick Break on him, and its done good for me in the past. Just throwing suggestions out there.

Alright, Fixed Fire Punch. Rock Slide is better than Brick Break in my opinion, plus it's my primairy way to revenge kill/take out Talonflame and Mega-Charizard-Y. So I'll keep it, Thanks for the rate anyways!

Bump.

Added a Threat List. Considering Swapping TTrum for Bisharp. But unsure...

EDIT: Really need some opinions on this, I did a bit of testing and Bisharp is great. It also has Priority to beat some important mons. like Gengar. And Knock Off is Great not sure about the set though the Standard SD is my favorite.
