np: Raised by Wolves (U2) - ΩR/αS UU Team Archive by rh156

HELLOOOOOO underused community. Everyone's favorite Brasileiro in the uu forum is here to try and share some interesting teams I used in my run through the spl, which in my opinion describe (and described) the ORAS UU metagame pretty well. I think like half of these aren't usable right now due to metagame shi(f)ts, but I decided posting them regardless because they still show the evolution of the metagame, and they can be revamped anyway. The title is an incredibly awesome U2 song (which you should listen while you scroll through this) and a tribute to my SPL team, the Wifi Wolfpack, which unfortunately did badly cuz of hax + players getting unmotivated RIP. Note: you might occasionally find arbitrary Shiny pokémon in the importable; this is because I always try to make the team the most colorful possible :]! Anyways, let us proceed~

#1: orgullo mexicano jaja

Used by me vs Limitless in the first week of the SPL, this is one of the funniest teams I've ever made. Featuring the infamous Thunder Wave Reuniclus, the main idea for this team was to paralyze a huge amount of the opposing team and then go berserk mode with Machamp, and even Pidgeot, which utilizes Work Up + Refresh to break defensive cores, which I expected from Limitless (though he used a pretty offensive team). Jirachi also paralyzed stuff, but also lured Swampert (who is a dick to this team) and dark types for Reuniclus, as well as setting SR. Tentacruel was my spinner and fire check (albeit admittedly a weak one), and Scarf Krookodile rounded up the team by being a good cleaner, trapper, revenge killer, volt switch-in, etc.

#2: Dr. Ham, the Medic

I built this team ahead of my battle vs IronBullet93; I had played him some times, and I noticed he had a tendency to run bulky offensive teams with Fire-Water-Grass cores, and decided to drop an innovation in the form of LO Medicham. Basically this boy can only be countered by bulky psychic types like Cresselia, and, unfortunately for me, he used my own CM Twave Reuniclus set against me and I got swept by Stoutdog ;_; Anyways, it's a pretty standard team outside that, with Florges/Seismitoad/Crobat forming a decent core, Hydreigon revenging stuff/adding resistances, and Jirachi being an excellent sweeper. I could've used Pert > Toad, but the former gets wrecked by Scald and lacks Knock Off!

#3: <radianthero156> Barbaracle is clearly an A rank

Ah, probably my favorite team pre-shift. I was talking about how heroic dekzeh was when he defeated a guy in the WCoP using a Barbaracle in OU, and then I just felt like using it in UU as well (it was PU back then and not even ranked in the viability rankings, not sure where it is rn). Outsped Scarf Shao and EQ/X-Scis/RShell swept literally the whole tier barring bulky waters/chesnaught at +2, and it got easy setup opportunities vs fliers/fires like pidgeot, crobat, entei, etc. Infernape is a massive threat that can lure water types with Grass Knot, and threatened Chesnaught heavily, basically was a godly partner for Barb. Sharpedo (which was an SD Mega Absol originally) was an epic Chesnaught lure, and it got amazingly clutch kills sometimes (once I managed to DBond a sleeping CroCune at 100% with my Scald Burnt Sharpedo at 20% after I predicted him to Sleep Talk a Scald, like a lord). Scarf Rachi revenges, Gligar sets SR + counters Hydra/Fighters/Chandy/etc, while Celebi is a pivotal member that could wall many threats and bpass SDs.

#4: dar(UU)de sandstorm

Ah, after the lordog (Stoutland) wrecked in many high level UU battles despite its PU status, I wanted to try it myself and brought it vs badabing, though I didn't even get to use it because Jirachi did thousands of work and won the game itself. Anyways, this team's purpose was to wear down everything with Toxic Spikes, Sandstorm, Taunt Aero, SubToxic Jirachi, and then clean everything up with Stoutland, Reuniclus being a secondary (and very reliable) win condition + stallbreaker. Haze on Dragalge is arbitrary, I just put it there because otherwise I was flat out 6-0d by Roar CM Cune; DMeteor could be used, but it's a defensive Dragalge anyways (I needed it to cover Lucario/Darm).

Reuniclus @ Leftovers

#5: mega aboma with this little usage? RU KIDDING?

The team I brought vs Lowgock, and my first good team after the metagame shift. I think aim used it on one of his ladder runs too iirc. It's pretty solid I think, though Beedrill annoys it A LOT if you don't predict correctly. It's based on the amazing SD Abomasnow, which, with its great coverage and bulk, can only be checked by Fire/Steel types, which are relatively easy to exploit/remove. Empoleon is my hazard control, and pivots into many threats like Pidgeot and Hydreigon with its typing, while Cresselia pairs pretty well with it by covering most physical threats and hard counters the incredibly dangerous new drop, Salamence. Toxic Orb Heracross was just an amazing breaker and nothing could switch into it safely; it rarely died without taking at least one mon down, and had many free switch-in opportunities (bulky waters, dark types, etc). Hydreigon's typing pairs up really well with the team, and its power is much appreciated (Draco Meteor OHKOes offensive Nidoqueen, for instance), and it could use Dark Pulse to severely weaken Steel-types looking to switch-in on Draco Meteor, which was really good for Aboma. Lastly, Chandelure is the scarfer of choice to discourage the spam of moves like HJK, CC, Sacred Fire, Flare Blitz, etc, while being able to Trick stuff like last mon Crocune/Curselax.

#6: Ches Smith DRUM SOLO

Firstly, if you didn't get the pun, Chad Smith is the name of RHCP's drummer, and he's badass as fuck. Also, this team is really interesting. I remember when I used it on the OU suspect ladder after I got reqs and it still went like 4-1 lol. It looks just like a standard balanced team with a good core, but it has a nastE surprise in BD Chesnaught; I intended on running it vs Omfuga to wreck his bulky shit, only to find out he had been subbed by Jabba, lmao what a loser. Basically, the only thing balanced teams have for this crazy set is Crobat, which would be chipped away by Mega Aero's Pursuit + Stealth Rock. CM Roar Cune beats most CMers, and is really annoying with Toxic Spikes by Dragalge, which is also a massive offensive threat (Draco Plate Adaptability Draco Meteor does DAMAGE). Florges supports the team + counters Hydreigon, while Forretress is a good physical wall for the likes of Scarf Mence, Toxicroak, and offered hazard control.

#7: holE - hyper offensive loers EXTREME

Ahh, I fucking love this team, my favorite one ever made. If I were asked which of my teams best suits my style, I'd easily say this one, no doubts. Playing with this team is funnier than watching Adam using BP. Basically, the team's idea is to KILL ALL, having FOUR FKIN LIFE ORBS. It usually works like this: Aerodactyl's crazy set puts in SR while preventing the opp from using SR as well, and Fire Blasts Forretress, while using Rock Head-less Double-Edge to suicide itself against stuff like Mega Blastoise to prevent spin/defog; Honchkrow is normally the mon I send after, because oh my lord this thing DESTROYS: Brave Bird hits harder than Lazar Angelov, and Moxie makes Sucker Punch impossible for a faster threat to revenge me; Pursuit traps random stuff, and Heat Wave also beats Forretress (it hard walls mence/whimsi shits on this team with hazards, so it's really important to kill it), while doing more damage to MAggron and Doublade, which are also dicks. Whimsicott's typing is really good and enables it to counter bulky waters, dragons, fighters, and it can sacrifice itself to get a clutch Tailwind in, which makes every other member of this team EVEN more threatening. Lucario can easily get a free turn with its amazing typing, and go ham with SD, and it beats Cresselia, a massive threat for this team, with Crunch. Mence's typing is also great, resisting Fight/Ground/Fire is huge for this team, and he can also wreck a lot of stuff with its godly atk and DD. Finally, Swampert counters bulky grounds/aggron, and can also sweep easily.

#8: slurpuff!

Made this team for Bugzinator, whom I would fight in week 8, but I asked to be subbed out because I had 4 exams in that week and was afraid I wouldn't be able to play, but my nigga Tom Bus did the job anyways. I was expecting to exploit his weakness to Specs Chandelure, who is an amazing threat, and I built a team around it. Then I randomly threw a Slurpuff into it and it wrecked a lot of people ?_?. Anyways, basic team with Porygon2 countering A LOT of threats (Aero, Mence, etc), Empoleon again controlling hazards, Shaymin beating bulky waters, Mence revenging/cleaning, and Slurpuff being Slurpuff :3.

#9: the CURSE(lax) of the sheddy,,,

Planned to bring this team vs Sam because he knew I am mainly an offensive player, and using Stall would throw him off. Then, he cowardly ran away and I had to face Belgian Wonderboy or more like Johnder ;[! McMeghan. I actually did get a pretty good matchup, but unfortunately I choked on dicks vs him by sending Aromatisse to get owned by blizzard :[. Pretty straight forward team though. Shedinja is a really good mon for stall, hard walling many threats, while CurseLax is a GREAT mon (it's impossible to switch into it seriously), and the Supportive Fairy + Mence + MAggron core is really solid, with Mence ensuring Sheddy wouldn't be raped by hazards, and Aggron running an interesting move in Taunt that is pretty trollish vs annoying guys like Forretress, Bronzong, etc. Roserade gives more hazards and has many free setup opportunities, and, though it might be weird to run them with Defog, they can be used easily after I kill the opposing SR user.

shoutouts

Bloo: dude I love you. when I was new to smogon, I watched you raping everyone in the tour, and since then I think you're the best player in the world. even though wolfpack had a rough season, I have zero regrets for only having tried out for them, because I made so many good friends who rock at this game and I've learnt a lot, and you're main example of it, and I'm rooting for you to win smogon tour 19!

gr8astard: huguinhooooo I love you too :]. I feel really bad we couldn't achive better things for your team, because you've put in so much effort, and I think you're one of the most creative builders ever. I'm really looking forward to playing with you again next season (and when wolfpack was the 10th placed team, they won the spl the next season!). please dont leave us man :[

aim: ah mr. celebrity is here. thank you too, always helping me develop teams with your creativity, and you're also a lord in basically every oras tier. your 7-2 record even being haxed evidences why I thought you were the steal of the spl, though you did more than just play your tier, as you were always testing.

Calloflochie: ah my nigga cameron. it was fun wrecking you in the test games lmfao overrated and overpriced piece of shit. LOL jk, you're one of the best builders i've ever seen, i have really good memories of you in the UUPL times, and in the thread we got our first badge and laurel wrecked you haha.

Dude, this is amazing. Thank you so much, I always appreciate these kind of team dumps, because I tend to use them a lot if I can't build well. And considering this so for my favorite tier, I am super hyped. Cant wait to go in depth!

great teams! this will definitely help a lot of people whether learning the metagame or being inspired to make their own teams based off of your ideas! :) I remember being inspired to use Medicham after seeing your spl match vs ib, which inevitably meant that i was one of the only people advocating for Medicham to be ranked on the viability thread, lol. great resource, thanks for sharing!

Erm, about the Mega Snow team. How did you deal with Cress' Moonlight being reduced in effectiveness under Hail?
well indeed it might be problematic, but I rarely mega evolve abomasnow early, when I do it I usually go for the end-game sweep. also if abomasnow is forced to switch-in, it doesn't activate hail anyways because it has Soundproof (which is actually funny because it enables you to wall galvantula, exploud's boomburst and it blocks roar).
