Hey guys, and welcome to my second UU RMT. Today I’m bringing you guys a cool team that me and my buddy CallMeBrendannn built around Life Orb Tangrowth! If you guys do enjoy teams like this make sure to check out my youtube :] now onto the squad n stuff
Side Note: I didn’t just ladder from the rank I had during my previous RMT. Due to me playing poorly, I had actually tilted off the ladder and to around 1300, so I wasnt just that lucky guy to win 1 game with a bad team :]
A SICK SONG IS CONTAINED RIGHT HERE
The first mon that I wanted to build around was Life Orb Tangrowth, as I thought it was a cool set and in my opinion was pretty antimeta.
With Tangrowth added, Brendan and I figured a Fire/Water/Grass core was the way to go. We added Bulky AV Entei to the team, as it took Fire type attacks pretty well and could also spread status with Sacred Fire.
For a water type, there was much discussion over whether to add Slowking, Feraligatr, or Suicune here. We wanted a mon that could pivot relatively well, but we also wanted a win condition and Suicune check – Slowking fit the bill.
Afterwards, we saw we were decimated by Mega Pidgeot and were relatively vulnerable to status, so Offensive Cleric Mega Ampharos seemed to make the cut.
For the fifth slot, we wanted hazard removal and hazards in the same slot (seeing as we would want a scarfer for the sixth) so I opted for SpDef Forry while Brendan went with Mixed Defensive Donphan. Both have their merits, with Forry providing a steel type while Donphan stops volt switch.
For the last slot, we again opted for different mons. He went with Scarf Ditto (LOL DITTO) to remedy the weakness to setup sweepers. Meanwhile, I opted for ScarfShao, seeing as it outpaced pretty much every setup sweeper in the tier at +1.
With the team set in stone, I got a few practice matches under my belt. Obviously, there were quite a few weaknesses (no shit I built it). The primary two problems for the team were Specs Chandelure and Thunderbolt Nidoqueen. Entei served as our Chandelure check, while Nidoqueen could 2hko Slowking with Rocks up and two Sludge Wave rolls. Therefore, I replaced AV Entei with AV Pursuit Snorlax and SpDef Forry with Bulky Defog Crobat. (Side note: here I had two options, Nidoqueen or Crobat. Nidoqueen would give me Stealth Rocks, but no removal, with Crobat fulfilling the opposite roles. I opted for a faster mon (as I’m slow as shit) however I’m not quite sure if I made the right move.
The Squad :[|]
wee gee (Tangrowth) @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 124 HP / 252 SpA / 132 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
-Giga Drain Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Fire] Hidden Power [Ice]
- Sleep Powder
The star of the team, LO tangrowth :] Honestly this is a really fun mon to use at the moment, as it has insanely customizable coverage and does a great job of weakening or crippling switch-ins with LO Leaf Storm and Sleep Powder, respectively. Giga Drain is there for a Grass STAB that doesn’t lower Special Attack, and can also help me take on fat mons as well.Hidden Power Fire makes its way onto the set to stop Forretress, that can otherwise be semi-problematic for my team. Hidden Power Fire has been changed to Ice to take on mence more effectively, while Focus Blast has been added to improve my matchup vs Snorlax while also denting Forretress. Shoutouts to OG_Wanka for the optimized spread :] The EV spread looks a little different from the one on the analysis, mainly because I gave Tangrowth enough speed to outspeed uninvested base 65s, with the rest dumped into bulk. Overall, a really cool mon that really stands out in the current metagame :]]

department store (Snorlax) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Atk / 96 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Body Slam
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
-
Snorlax serves as the pseudo fire type on this team, resisting both Fire and Ice and being able to beat Chandelure 1v1. The spread looks wonky, but it’s EVd to avoid the 2hko from LO Alakazam’s Focus Blast most of the time while maximizing the available power by dumping the remaining EVs in Attack. Body Slam is here for obligatory STAB, Pursuit traps Chandy and Alakazam (two major threats), Earthquake donks Empoleon and the Nidos,

sloking (Slowking) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Slack Off
To complete the pseudo Fire/Water/Grass core I put together, I decided to add Slowking as the third mon. Slowking brought a lot to the team – a second Crocune check, a Win Condition, a Water type, and a second Regenerator mon to trouble balance to a certain degree. Slowking serves as my secondary fighting type check and primary Dragon/Fire check. In addition, Slowking takes on some variants of Nidoking and Nidoqueen, removing pressure from Snorlax throughout the battle. The spread that I went with was pretty standard, with the last 8 EVs dumped into speed to beat 4 Speed Slowking. Attack IVs minimized to beat non-toxic Umbreon 1v1, with Scald and Psyshock being the attacking options. I’ve considered running Ice Beam > Psyshock to improve my matchup against Salamence (who is a massive threat to this team), but doing so gives me an automatic loss in CM wars against Cresselia (another threat). Overall, Slowking’s amazing typing and win condition options gave it the third spot on the team.

lighthouse (Ampharos) @ Ampharosite
Ability: Static
EVs: 132 HP / 252 SpA / 124 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heal Bell
- Dragon Pulse
- Focus Blast
- Volt Switch
Next, I needed a counter to Mega Pidgeot, another Fire type check, and a cleric. I knew that it would be difficult to include a Scarfer and Defogger in the last two slots, so I needed to cover as much of those roles in one Pokemon. Ultimately, I decided that Mega Ampharos fit the mold and could provide unmatched team support. Ampharos also fits the Bulky Offense build I was hoping for, as it can weather opposing hits and donk other opposing Pokemon. The spread is pretty standard, with enough Speed EVs to outrun netural base 65s such as Swampert and fire off a Dragon Pulse. Not having Thunderbolt is kinda lame, but Heal Bell is needed to keep Slowking and Snorlax healthy burn and toxic free. I’ve considered dropping Focus Blast, but it increases my already massive weakness to Specially Defensive Umbreon, as well as worsening my matchup against CurseLax.

x wing (Crobat) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 112 HP / 116 Atk / 64 Def / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost
Crobat was added to the 5th slot because I usually fall back on standard sets I needed a primary check (CB Hera shits on me otherwise) and a Defogger. Crobat also forms a nice VoltTurn core with Ampharos that can open up free opportunities for Tangrowth and Slowking. The spread looks weird af, but I decided to run 216 speed to outpace the Crobat in dodmen ‘s RMT (adjusted for people running 4 extra speed), with the right HP + Def EVs to comfortably take on Fighting Spam. Finally, I dumped the rest into attack in order to not hit like a wet paper towel. I opted for Black Sludge over Sky Plate for survivability, allowing me to Roost less and U-Turn more to pick up momentum. I would really like to have Rocks in this slot, but adding Nidoqueen over Crobat means I lose to EQ Heracross (while albeit less common, it can make it on the CB set easily) and I get worn down easily by opposing hazards (despite the Regenerator core + Rocks resist in Mienshao). Overall, Crobat offered more to the team than Nidoqueen and managed to sneak into the fifth spot.

mienshit (Mienshao) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
AKA yung wide left, I added one of my favorite Pokemon, Mienshao in the last slot. Being arguably the best scarfer in the tier, Scarf Mienshao. Mienshao outspeeds DD Mence at +1, giving me a semi reliable way to pick it off. High Jump Kick and U-Turn are used most of the time, but Knock Off and Stone Edge definently have their merits, allowing me to take on Crobat and Doublade, respectively. Mienshao fails to add key resistances (which my team had been more or less predicated on to this point) but gave me solid cleaning potential if Slowking fell short or got picked off at any point in the game. Not much more to say on this, but I’d be open to changing this mon out, as long as the suggested scarfer outsped +1 Mence :]
That’s gonna rap up this RMT, so I hope you had fun reading :] Below this, there should be a threatlist, shoutouts, and importable and proof of peak. If any of those catch your eye, make sure to check em out. Also, if you like teams such as this, check out my YouTube channel, where upload PS Lives :] Anyhow, thanks for reading, and catch you on the flip flop
