Hello all! This is my first post here, and I'm very excited. I've been wanting for a while to become active on Smogon forums and whatnot, and now I'm finally kicking that off with a RMT! The team is offensively based, originally built around Rock Polish Landorus-I, but some tweaks here and there have simply created a synergistic offensive team. Let me know what you think and feel free to leave suggestions! :]
Landorus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]
So, as previously mentioned, I built this team around Landorus-I, but after realizing I needed a dedicated Stealth Rock setter, I found that Lando was better suited for this role. I adore Landorus-I right now. It forces switches out the wazoo, so setting up rocks is easy. Not to mention that life orb + Sheer Force is a dangerously powerful combination, and Lando is one of the best wallbreakers in the tier because of it. I run rocks because... Well, rocks. Earth Power for obligatory STAB. Sludge Wave for annoying fairies like Sylvan or Clef, and Hidden Power Ice to round out the coverage, hitting things that the above two moves can't touch, like Landorus forms, Gliscor, etc. This mon has most trouble with Skarmory and Rotom-W and Sp. Def Ferrothorn, as well as others niche mons like Air Ballon Heatran. But we'll get there. ;) Also, standard EV spread to outspeed base 100s like Gardevoir and Medicham.
Thundurus (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Nasty Plot
Ah, nothing like two Incarnate forms to really piss off an opponent. I love this thing. It's fantastic on offensive teams because, as we all know, offense's biggest threat is other offense. If nothing else, Thundurus can drop a T-Wave on opposing sweepers and stop them then and there. Otherwise, the goal of this set is to set up a Nasty Plot and rek things mid-game. I've thought about swapping out Nasty Plot for Taunt or maybe coverage like Focus Blast, but for now I'll stick with NP. Thundurus is the Pokemon I'm most willing to give up however, so if anyone has a good suggestion as to what I can replace him with, I'm all ears! Max speed and special attack for maximum offensive capability.
Metagross-Mega @ Metagrossite
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Hammer Arm
- Bullet Punch
This thing should have went to Ubers. But I'm glad it didn't, because it's a total powerhouse in OU. Absurd stats, solid offensive and defensive typing backed with an expansive movepool AND a sick ability to boot? Dude. Megagross is power. He's also great for hitting things that the Incarnates can't hurt much, like Mega Venusaur, AV Conk, etc. I have Bullet Punch for priority, but I've considered adding Stealth Rocks so that I can use RP Lando like I want to. Either way, this thing is a monster. Dual STAB and Hammer Arm for steel coverage (mostly just Ferrothorn) is sick too. This thing dumps on balance, and lots of offensive teams. And it kills fairies. I LOVE THIS POKEMON. Standard EV spread.
Azumarill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower
- Play Rough
Now that I've calmed down, let's talk about a Pokemon that has had my heart lately. Azumarill. This thing is fantastic. An amazing typing coupled with awesome bulk and an absurd attack stat thanks to its ability Huge Power. Assault Vest just makes it even bulkier. It's moves are standard, Superpower is to hit incoming Ferrothorn (I really hate Ferro) and dual STAB + STAB priority rounds this little water-bunny-thing out. Not to mention, Azumarill is a great switch in to Keldeo, which this team has trouble with otherwise. 16 Speed EVs to speed creep other Azumarill, the rest into attack and HP.
Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
I was hesitant at first to use Scarf-Tar. I always wanted to, but I've never found a good spot for it on a team. Well, now I have. I wanted something that could get rid of the most common defoggers in OU, the Lati twins, as well as Starmie, so that I can keep my hazards on the field so I'm always applying pressure. T-Tar does it like no other. He's able to switch in, set up sand, take a hit, and Pursuit trap. Works 60% of the time, every time. Not to mention, Sand is a valuable asset in wearing down the opponent. I run max speed so that with a scarf, I can outspeed positive-natured base 115's, and max attack for big big damage. Pursuit to trap, Stone Edge and Crunch for strong stab, and EQ to round out my coverage and hit things like Bisharp for SE damage. Also, he's a great Talonflame switch-in, which aside from the shaky Thundurus, I don't have. Synergy wise, he may not be the best. But he has a job and he does it well, so I'm content with leaving him.
Serperior @ Life Orb
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Dragon Pulse
- Giga Drain
Last but not least, the true threat. I was so skeptical to Serperior in OU. I thought the abundance of Talonflame and Heatran would make it near impossible to pilot effectively, but boy was I wrong. Serperior is a late-game monster, capable of running through teams with it's JUST good enough coverage. With an awesome 113 base speed, he's able to outspeed the majority of fast threats like Latios/Latias, Mega Diancie, Mega Gallade, Mega Metagross, and others. With a life orb, you basically just spam a 140 BP STAB move while gaining +2 special attack. He's sick. He does more than just blow teams back though - he's a relatively safe switch in to Rotom-W, something this team cannot handle well. Also, he beats Ferrothorn 1v1 most of the time, because of HP fire (I TOLD YOU I HATE FERROTHORN). I debated between Celebi, Breloom, and Serperior for this spot, but I'm very happy that I chose Serp. Max Sp. Atk and speed to outspeed pesky 110s and smack 'em with leaf storm. Moveset wise, I chose Leaf Storm because... Well duh. HP Fire for Ferrothorn and Scizor. Dragon Pulse for Latias/Latios, and Giga Drain to get some HP back in a pinch. Glare also works, but I like Giga Drain for now.
So that's the team! I've had success, but I hope to improve it if possible. Let me know what you think. Thanks for reading guys. :]
