XY OU Protected Setup

I wanted to design a team around Light Screen and Reflect Because they can defend your Pokemon so well that they can usually setup without much worry.
espeon.gif

Espeon @ Light Clay
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Psychic
- Yawn
Espeon was chosen because it can use both of those moves and pull them off well. It's my lead Poke and as soon as I start I use both Light Screen and Reflect, and Yawn when I can. Light Screen and Reflect are quite obvious, Yawn is to put other Mons to sleep to make it even easier to setup, and Psychic is just so I have an attack and I use it when I have the chance to. Oh, and Light Clay increases the Duration of LS and Reflect which is also great.

azumarill.gif

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Brick Break
Azumarill was chosen as my first setup Pokemon. Sitrus Berry + Belly Drum is a great combo which sets up fast and I can go for the early sweep. Belly Drum is to max out my attack, Aqua Jet is STAB + coverage (priority is also nice), Play Rough is also STAB/coverage, and Brick Break is kind of just there (I'm open to replace it). Huge Power Doubles attack which is nice to have with this set.

scizor-mega.gif

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Roost
You can't really have a setup team without Mega-Scizor, can you? Once he mega evolves and sets up, there isn't much your opponent can usually do. Swords dance is to multiply your attack, Bullet Punch is STAB and Priority, Bug Bite is STAB and is helped by Technician, and Roost is to heal up the damage you take when setting up/sweeping.

talonflame.gif

Talonflame @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- Swords Dance
Talonflame is probably my favourite Pokemon when it is fully setup. Gale Wings gives its flying moves supreme reign over all others, which is the main reason why it was chosen. Swords Dance is to max its attack, Roost is to heal up damage, and Brave Bird + Flare Blitz are STAB and insane when setup. The Recoil is pretty annoying but Roost is always there for you. I got the EV spreads from a quick Google search and am definitely open to changing them if gives better ones.

serperior.gif

Serperior (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Leaf Storm
- Giga Drain
- Dragon Pulse
Serperior is probably one of the most underused Pokemon that I've seen recently. I chose him because of his ability, Contrary. Leaf Storm takes your SpA down by two stages but contrary causes it to go UP by two instead. After I get it to x4, I can HP fire for coverage (I really wanna replace this move), Giga Drain to heal up, and Dragon Pulse for Coverage (again, open to change). The idea here is to max SpA and sweep with your coverage (which I may be lacking).

raikou.gif

Raikou @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 32 SpD / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Raikou is a Pokemon which was suggested to me on another RMT I made and has been working pretty well so far. Assault Vest is always nice, Thunderbolt is STAB/Coverage, Volt Switch is for a quick Switch (I guess), Shadow Ball is coverage (which usually works pretty well), and HP Ice is more coverage. He usually works OK for me but I'm always open for improvement.

AND That's my team. Thanks for taking the time to read that. Hope you like it and I would appreciate it very much if you would help me improve it. I'm open to changing pretty much anything so please leave your feedback below.

Experimentally, HP Ground should be considered over HP Fire. I would at least slash it as an option.

Klefki > Espeon. Give it Light Clay + Screens, then perhaps thunder wave and Dazzling Gleam (so your not taunt bait).
A 252/252/4 set for Klefki is not unreasonable. Twave allows opposing setup mons to become crippled before they can sweep you.

Just a Note: "You can't really have a setup team without Mega-Scizor, can you?"

Zard X says hi.
Pinsir says hi.
Altaria says hi.
Sableye says hi.

Klefki @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Thunder Wave
- Foul Play/Dazzling Gleam

Just so you know, you need a spinner/defogger just in case Espeon isn't there. Try using Zapdos instead of Raikou. You could do Thunderbolt/VoltSwitch/HeatWave/Tailwind.

I dislike Talonflame's current EV spread of 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe. Its only use is to outspeed Thundurus while failing to outspeed Raikou, other base 115s, and Scarf Magnezone. The extra bulk from 120 HP EVs compared to 88 HP EVs is quite irrelevant on an offensive spread. As such, change the EV spread of your Talonflame to 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe.

Next, as the opponent sees that your team lacks a dedicated hazard remover, they will find a way to fire off SR quickly. As a rule of thumb, never run a team with Talonflame, Volcarona, or Mega Charizard-X/Y without any dedicated hazard removal. You'll be overreliant on using your magic bounce user to ward off hazards, which is easy to play around as your Espeon is easily worn down and is vulnerable to Pursuit trapping and since it's not that hard to set up SR even against teams who have magic bounce users. Therefore, I would suggest running Zapdos > Raikou. With that said, this provides defog support and a more reliable check to SD Talonflame, a Pokemon you're currently weak to (as Raikou otherwise dies from a +2 flare blitz lol). Be warned of SD Talonflame setting up though as half of your team is set-up fodder.

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 68 SpA / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt / Volt Switch
- Heat Wave
- Roost
- Defog

Lastly, you lack a Stealth Rock user. Generally, you do not want to build a team without SR, as the crucial chip damage turns certain 2HKOes to OHKOes, and certain 3HKOes to 2HKOes. Also, it helps make short work of opposing Talonflame, Volcarona, and Mega Charizard-X/Y. Finding a slot for SR is one of your highest priorities when building a team. I might think of something eventually but I'm currently too busy, so I hope someone can help you.

Good luck on the team.

Yeah I agree about Talonflames EV spread and I will probably replace Raikou in the morning. I'm gonna go sleep soon but any other help will be greatly appreciated.

I dont know who to replace, but bulky chomp could be a nice utility mon for you. It can set up rocks, and check most physical attackers, or phaze them out. It also completes Fairy/Dragon/Steel synergy for your team. For this to work, either zapdos or klefki/Espeon would need to be replaced.

you have no stealth rock or defog/spin user on this team. With talon it is pretty important to have something that can do this so i suggest switching espeon to screen latias. Latias functions like espeon by setting up screens but is much better as it has more natural bulk and gets defog so you can reliably keep hazards off without making risky espeon plays. As a stealth rocker i would suggest changing talon to bulky lando-t which also helps you against mega lop which looks like it destroys you.
