After 31 Years...

Probably not at all. I've been to Toronto many times in my life, and never to see some tower. I imagine it's just a cool sideshow for most people.
 
Well, when looking at an international view, a lot of people go to Toronto to see the tower, among other things. Though a lot of people are disappointed by how dull the tower is. Meh.
 
I never considered Toronto a prime tourism spot, tall tower or not.

Besides, this doesnt take the tower away from it so I doubt it will have any impact. I disagree with what this dude before me is saying. Nobody ever came from overseas just to see it, I'm pretty sure, so it doesnt lose its appeal, which is pretty much solely a local one.
 
I thought the sears tower was taller?

Maybe the CN tower doesnt count as a building or something..

yeah it depends what you consider should count.

What makes the CN tower so tall is the antenna on top. You cannot actually reach that high when you visit it.
 
So now they have to remove all those "TALLEST BUILDING THE WORLD" and "THE 8TH WORLD WONDER!" from the tower right? The CN Tower was such overpriced BS =/
 
i usually went to toronto to visit the air canada center/rogers centre. toronto for me has always been about sports, i visited the tower twice and both times weren't too memorable. im actually kinda happy about this, what little tourism toronto attracted with the tower will hopefully be gone making it a less crowded city.
 
this sucks :(

having the tower practically in my backyard has always been really neat. Of course it will still be there but now its not the tallest in the world. Being a part of the "best x in the world" is always good for nationalism and pride, so fuck UAE.

also the glass floor in the tower is much cooler than you're giving it credit for.

Crowded? Really? I practically live in Toronto and I've never actually seen it as that.
Anyways, like Jackal said, a bit of pride is lost in this, but I still find the tower to be a pretty defining icon of Toronto.
 
haha, well as i said i've mostly gone for sports events, which is probably the reason for the crowds i've seen. my bad. @_@

and yeah jackal, i love the glass floor and how it screws so many people up... probably my favorite part of the tower for some reason.
 
I wouldn't expect much people to go to Toronto anyway. And those that do probably don't come for the tower. Everyone go to the Arab place now!
