[OVERVIEW]
Spiritomb has an excellent typing in Dark and Ghost, giving it only one weakness to Fairy-type, while being immune and immunities to Fighting-, Psychic-, (AC) and Normal-type moves. This means Spiritomb can pivot into foes such as meaning it can switch into a lot of things, like Curse Snorlax, Mienshao, Lucario, Reuniclus, Cresselia, (AC) and Slowking. It has great Defense and Special Defense base stats of 108 each, which gives it a lot of durability. It also has a great ability in Infiltrator, meaning it can lets Spiritomb attack through Reflect, Light Screen, (AC) and Substitute. However, it has a poor Speed stat of 35 which makes it really slow and almost the entire UU meta outspeeds it. Furthermore, It has a poor HP stat of 50 but with the move Pain Split it can come in handy, giving it a good rise in HP. Unfortunately, Spiritomb has a poor Speed stat, low HP stat, and shallow its offensive movepool is poor and Foul Play is the only move that can give reliable consistent damage. It faces competition from Jellicent since that is faster, have great immunities and moreover, a reliable recovery, which Spiritomb lacks. Spiritomb faces competition as a spinblocker from Jellicent, which is faster and has reliable recovey; Spiritomb is more X and Y pls be sure to say what actually makes it better

Moves
========================
Sucker Punch gives it a great STAB priority move that can wear down fast attackers, such as OHKOing Choice Scarf Chandelure and Nasty Plot Azelf. Will-O-Wisp is mandatory, as it can burn Pokemonsbehind Substitutes thanks to Infiltrator as well, crippling it entirely. Foul Play is used to ensure further that a physically offensive Pokemon does not set up infront of it, since Spiritomb can punish it by targeting the increased Attack stat and dealing massive damage depending on the opponent's typing Foul Play lets Spiritomb discourage opposing sweepers from setting up in front of it. Taunt can be used as well to entirely stopping a set-up setup or recovery as well, notably from Reuniclus, Slowking, (AC) and Snorlax. However, Pursuit enables it Spiritomb to trap Psychic- and Ghost-types, such as Azelf, Espeon, Chandelure, Mega Beedrill, Slowking, (AC) and Reuniclus, which tries to switch out once Spiritomb has safely switched into. Also, Pain Split helps it Spiritomb recover its low HP while damaging the foe lowering the opponents HP giving it a shot at recovery while becoming a great stallbreaker when packed with Taunt.
Set Details
==========================
This set focuses on Spiritomb's offensive peers as well as providing support for the team, while bypassing screens and Substitutes thanks to Infiltrator. 252 HP EVs and 252 Atk EVs with Adamant nature are used, as it suits Spiritomb's ability to withstand hits and attack or status the foe hitting as hard as possible in return, or crippling it. Black Glasses can increase the power of Foul Play, Pursuit, (AC) and Sucker Punch dealing more damage, while Leftovers give it Spiritomb a bit of recovery, (AC) important on which the non-Pain Split sets lacks.
Usage Tips
============================
This set works best on balanced teams, and can check a lot of Pokemon including setup sweepers, such as Doublade, Mega Abomasnow, Cobalion, Reuniclus, Curse Snorlax, (AC) and Lucario, as well as fast revenge killers, such as Mienshao, and then trap them with Pursuit giving damage, giving balanced teams a great Pokemon to check these threats. It can also work as a revenge killer to ChoicedPokemonswith Sucker Punch or trap them with Pursuit. Taunt can also stop entry hazard stacking from Forretress as well as while blocking Rapid Spin.
Team Options
==========================
Steel-types, such as Forretress, Empoleon, (AC) and Doublade, are great partners to Spiritomb, as they can tank Fairy-type attacks which Spiritomb hate. (period) The , as well as the former two can provide entry hazards while the latter two can set up on the Fairies. Moreover, Spiritomb loves bulky Water-type partners, such as Suicune, Alomomola, Swampert, Empoleon, (AC) and Vaporeon, as they can beat strong types which put pressure on Spiritomb what does this mean? It seems totally vague as well as attempt to burn annoying fairies by Fairy-types with Scald. Also, Grounded Poison-types Pokemons, such as Nidoqueen, Nidoking, (AC) and Toxicroak, are great partners to Spiritomb, as they can absorb Toxic Spikes as well as checking Fairy-types. Finally, Wish support, (AC) as well as Heal Bell/Aromatherapy, such a, support from Aromatisse and Florges, is really recommended for the non-Pain Split sets, as it can help it Spiritomb get HP to provide more support for the team.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========================
Calm Mind is the main purpose of this set, as it boosts Spiritomb's already great Special Defense and Special Attack to greater levels, as well as increasing its mediocre Special Attack as well. Dark Pulse is ran over Shadow Ball so that Spiritomb can hit Normal-types, (AC) everything but Shadow Ball can also be used since because it does decent damage to Lucario and Cobalion which enjoys Dark Pulse, but gets stopped by Normal-type Pokemons, while Dark Pulse hits everything. Rest is used to let it heal Spiritomb entirely after it has boosted, therefore this Pokemon cannot be statused as well, and it ensures its longevity. Will-O-Wisp is used to cripple Pokemons from setting up which resists its attack, like Cobalion, Machamp, Mienshao, Feraligatr and Mega Aerodactyl. Sleep Talk can be used with Pressure to set up or attack while sleeping so that this Pokemon does not become a burden during sleeping while PP stalling the foe.
Set Details
========================
This set makes Spiritomb a decent setup sweeper and a potential win-con win condition, dealing with Calm Mind Reuniclus, Slowking, Cresselia, (AC) and Curse Snorlax. 252 HP EVs and 252 Def EVs with Bold nature are used to maximize Spiritomb's physical bulk, while and Infiltrator is used to hit behind Substitutes and screens while Pressure can be used to PP stall opposing setup sweepers.
Usage Tips
========================
This set is an absolute counter to bulky Calm Mind Psychic sweepers, such as Reuniclus, Slowking, (AC) and Cresselia. This set works great on stall and balanced teams giving the team a potential win-con win condition which most stall teams lack. This set does wonders, as it can render Substitutes and screens useless. Moreover, this Pokemon can set up all over defensive Pokemonswhich rely on status to beat Pokemon.
Team Options
========================
Spiritomb loves a cleric partner, especially Florges and Aromatisse, which takes care of Dark- and Fighting-types for Spiritomb as well as provides Wish and Aromatherapy support. Additionally, Spiritomb appreciates Toxic Spikes, as they make its sweeping easier by poisoning and crippling the foe; (SC) therefore Nidoqueen, Tentacruel, (AC) and Roserade are amazing partners. Poison- or Steel-types are great partners to Spiritomb as they can stop the likes of Whimsicott and Calm Mind Florges which threaten this set.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=================
Shadow Sneak could be used over Sucker Punch on the first set for a more reliable priority move, but with weaker power. Also, Psychic can be used to hit Machamp and Heracross, especially as the latter loves getting switching in to get burned, but Foul Play or the last slot in the first set other moves are too valuable to be replaced. A Custap Berry + Destiny Bond set can be used just like the first set to surprise the opponent and take them down with Spiritomb beating them with you. Also, A defensive RestTalk set can be used with Will-O-Wisp to cripple threats while having the ability to heal itself reliably. A more specially mixed offensive set could be used with Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball to hit specially while Pursuit trapping physically frail foes making it a mixed attacker.
Checks and Counters
=====================
**Powerful Fire-types**: Entei, Choice Specs Rotom-H, Darmanitan, (AC) and Mega Camerupt are immune to Will-O-Wisp, takes have enough bulk to take a hit, (AC) and can deal a huge damage with their STAB moves. (period)
**Fairy-types**: Aromatisse, Florges, Granbull, Whimsicott, (AC) and Slurpuff can hit Spiritomb super effectively with their STAB moves while resisting Spiritomb's Dark-type attacks.
**Dark-type Taunt Users**: Mandibuzz, Krookodile, (AC) and Hydreigon both resist both of Spiritomb's STAB types and can stop it from using Will-O-Wisp, healing, (AC) or setting up by using Taunt.
**Guts Users**: Machamp and Heracross enjoy being burnt and can do massive damage to Spiritomb in return.
**Bulky set-up Setup Sweepers**: The offensive set is a setup bait for the likes of Calm Mind Suicune and Calm Mind Florges, (AC) which takeslittle damage from Spiritomb's attacks and Will-O-Wisp is useless on them.
**Special Wallbreakers**: Hydreigon, Kyurem, Mega Ampharos, Mega Pidgeot, (AC) and Dragalge can do massive damage to Spiritomb due to its mediocre special bulk.![]()

quite a bit of iffy wordings that I took a guess at fixing up here--can you make sure my reasoning is corrrect King UU? It'd be good if this were fixed before it was handed over to GP tho :/

Yeah that looks fine, I told him about the potential prose issues. Looks good! Arifeen, use this as a learning experience; GP always appreciates if you can cleanup your own work so they can focus more on grammar and less on prose. Aside from that, well done on your first analysis :)Arifeen

Thank you so much. I am learning and this is helping me in my other analysis as well. Special thanks to Kreme for helping me a lot with this!Yeah that looks fine, I told him about the potential prose issues. Looks good! Arifeen, use this as a learning experience; GP always appreciates if you can cleanup your own work so they can focus more on grammar and less on prose. Aside from that, well done on your first analysis :)
Yeah--GP checkers can always fix up weak prose/writing, but it has to have meat behind it. I didn't want to be rude, but making sure that information included really needs to be nailed down by QC before GP stages. It's not always an author problem--like I said, it's quite easy to remove fluff and shorten run-on sentences--but if something lacks information it's a QC+author partnership issue. The overviews / usage tips sections here were a bit lacking in role descriptions and explanation of reasons to use Spiritomb particularly. Thankfully I was able to write in a bit on that myself, and it was thankfully correct, but depending on who's checking that might not always be the case.Yeah that looks fine, I told him about the potential prose issues. Looks good! Arifeen, use this as a learning experience; GP always appreciates if you can cleanup your own work so they can focus more on grammar and less on prose.
