Another Houndoom Option - Yes, I have damage Calcs

Yeah, that is true, I overlooked Houndoom's secondary STAB. Dark Pulse allows him to handle a lot of Pokemon that Ninetales would struggle against, especially Salamence who laughs at Energy Ball.

Houndoom's speed really does put a downer on this set though. It has the potential to rip through some of the toughest Pokemon around but there are so many Pokemon who are faster and have OHKO potential, that Houndoom will have a hard time sweeping. Infernape, Starmie, Garchomp, Gengar, Alakazam, Dugtrio, Weavile and Aerodactyl are all common Pokemon who can come out on a +6 Special Attack Houndoom and brush him aside with ease. There's also the multitude of Choice Scarfers like Hera and PZ.

Keeping your Sub up or activating your Salac Berry is the only thing that will allow a sweep.

Yeah, his Speed really brings him down, which probably means this would be best suited for a late game sweep, or when you know what you opponent has ahead of time. I think a full sweep with Houndoom is pushing it a bit since he's pretty frail. The Salac Berry option was brought to my attention by majesty, and swears by it, so there's definitely some advantages with it besides the obvious.

It's a good set, but isn't it the exact same as the first analysis moveset? The only difference is that this has HP fighting/Substitute over HP fighting/WoW. And the set does list Substitute as a valid option for the last move slot.

Thanks for the damage calcs though, that's all the convincing I need to use this set more.

Sub/NP/Dark Pulse/FB @ Salac seems to be the best option for a sweep. Fire Blast is stronger over 2 turns than Overheat (360 vs. 310) and it doesn't weaken Dark Pulse. Salac also prolongs your life span and allows you to outspeed all the nasty things that could OHKO you.

As it says in the beginning of the post, this set is pretty much made of the "Other Options". Sub and Salac are mention very briefly, not even a sentence on each one. This topic is showing the usefulness those, and the potential that it has as a real set rather than just another option.

Overheat is a good way to waste Nasty Plot. I would rather Flamethrower than Overheat. Taking Accuracy into account, Flamethrower over two turns is slightly stronger than Overheat over two turns, and you have the 10% chance to Burn each time. Flamethrower also doesn't weaken HP Fighting / Dark Pulse. I'd also use Fire Blast over Overheat. Overheat is more hit-and-run, which is the opposite of Nasty Plot.
